"Actually we discussed this feature for the past 6 months with the other managers and now we only have one week left to implement it, sorry this is the first you're hearing of it. What is it? Oh just a simple two ways sync between our CRM and another." Only slightly exaggerated. Our sprints are two weeks not one.

When the dev refused the VP fumed about how the guy was a "lazy fucker"... It is "Objective KeyResults" and - as you figured it out by now - it is a management BS with a captital B and S. It is about talking a lot while not doing anything useful.
It's missing the part when they want to get points for everything, asking people to give the points but pushing for the lowest possible so they can include as many tasks as possible... And then when something is not completed within the deadline, they take a passive-aggressive attitude with BS like "You guys gave the points and we were within our capacity".

The other side of that is us, the engineers, padding up projects with 12 times the necessary time, otherwise how can we spend time on the LambdaTheUltimate or writing papers for PoPL.
I know an engineering manager who behaved more like this than our actual product manager 😆 (Like the passive-aggressive insistence on cameras in every meeting, the time he'd spend on Notion productivity templates and emojis everywhere, his excitement for OKRs, pushing his personal design ideas even if they went against user feedback, "Can we jump on a quick call?", creating a toxic environment when stressed out, etc)
