The 'Our' in the prayer Our Father puts us in an entirely new relationship with God. I belong to God, and he belongs to me, not as possession but a gift of each of us to the other. This prayer teaches us to include everyone and NOT exclude some. We have this new kind of love to free us from individualism.
In this prayer we see God's care for his entire creation, extend to the full breath of love for all his people, especially for those who do not yet know him, so that Christ *may gather into one, the children of God John 11.52*.
God, please make our hearts like yours , including all, because your ❤️ love excludes no one. 🙏 🙏 🙏

"Our" expresses a totally new relationship with God. When we pray to the Father, we adore and glorify him with the Son and the Holy Spirit. In Christ, we are "His" people, and He is "our" God and for eternity. To pray the "Our Father" is to pray with all people and for all people that they may know the one true God and be gathered into unity. Lord, God make my heart like yours. 🙏

    Day 356 - "Our" Father
"Our" Father does not express possession, but it means that we belong to the Father. And because of that we belong to each other as Christians...
The baptized cannot pray to "our" Father without bringing before him *all those* for whom he gave his beloved Son.

Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
    Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
    of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
    throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
    for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
    and in my family. Amen.
In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

“There is no danger if our prayer is without words or reflection because the good success of prayer depends neither on words nor on study. It depends upon simple raising of our minds to God, and the more simple and stripped of feeling it is, the surer it is.” St. Jane Frances de Chantal. Amen and God Bless🙏📿🙏🎄

  • @JohnHenrysaysHi
    @JohnHenrysaysHi ปีที่แล้ว +6

2:03 We may feel like we're giving too much attention to one person of the Trinity to the neglect of the others, but when we pray to Our Father, we ask, we personally address the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Personally address because He's the First Person of the Trinity, and in doing that we're not dividing the Trinity.
We're not dividing the Godhead because the Father is its source and origin. We're also confessing the Son is eternally begotten by the Father, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father.
    We're not confusing the Persons.
We're not mixing them all up in the sense that when we're talking to the Father, we're also talking to the Son and the Holy Spirit because we have a personal relationship with a personal, tri-personal God.
When we pray to the Father, we adore and glorify him together with the Son and the Holy Spirit.
So they're not confused in the sense of, they're not just kind of all part of the mix.
But when we pray to the Father, we adore and glorify Him, together with the Son and the Holy Spirit.
So there's this great way in which whenever we're talking to the Lord God, we're talking to the Trinity, but also personally, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
2789 When we pray to "our" Father, we personally address the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. By doing so we do not divide the Godhead, since the Father is its "source and origin," but rather confess that the Son is eternally begotten by him and the Holy Spirit proceeds from him. We are not confusing the persons, for we confess that our communion is with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, in their one Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity is consubstantial and indivisible. When we pray to the Father, we adore and glorify him together with the Son and the Holy Spirit.
7:54 "Our" Father refers to God. The adjective, as used by us, does not express possession, but an entirely new relationship with God.
8:45 we have become "his" people and he is henceforth "our" God. This new relationship is the purely gratuitous gift of belonging to each other: we are to respond to "grace and truth" given us in Jesus Christ with love and faithfulness.
10:12 Finally, if we pray the Our Father sincerely, we leave individualism behind, because the love that we receive frees us from it. The "our" at the beginning of the Lord's Prayer, like the "us" of the last four petitions, excludes no one. If we are to say it truthfully, our divisions and oppositions have to be overcome.
10:59 The baptized cannot pray to "our" Father without bringing before him all those for whom he gave his beloved Son. God's love has no bounds, neither should our prayer. Praying "our" Father opens to us the dimensions of his love revealed in Christ: praying with and for all who do not yet know him, so that Christ may "gather into one the children of God." God's care for all men and for the whole of creation has inspired all the great practitioners of prayer; it should extend our prayer to the full breadth of love whenever we dare to say "our" Father.
Merry Christmas, everyone! Hope you all have a light-filled peaceful Christmas Eve. Prayed for you in my Rosary and will be praying for you at Mass tomorrow. Thank you so much for your prayers, Father Mike and everyone here. They help so much and mean so much! God bless you and yours!

The word "Our" is a personal/possessive pronoun. There lies the confusion. A lot of people go around saying they have there own personal Jesus. No one or thing in all the universe can possess God and if they do it's only for a short period of time. Even in the verse from Jeremiah the prophet, "They shall be My people, and I will be their God," even though it sound like possession of God it is not, לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ (lê·lō·hîm)
