All this blows me away (I just discovered this channel last night). Really wanna make this and the table-saw fence. Confidence is low though. I'm blown away though, Mr Heisz. You have a great eye, and charming style.
I watch a lot of these types of videos. You can always tell if the builder is Canadian by the use of Robertson head screws. I am from B.C. but I live in Tacoma Washington. I can't get the screws here so I have to remember to visit a hardware store when I visit my family. Thanks for the videos, it's easy to see why you have so many subscribers.
I really like how you point out your mistakes and how to fix them. Some guys go out of their way to make themselves look perfect or the task look easy.
Thank you for going into some detail about motor selection in the build article. That is something that I haven't seen covered in most shop tool builds
I have an old 9 inch band saw that junked the rubber tires off of it. I've been thinking about building something similar to this with that. it's a delta with a belt drive so it has a decent blade speed and if it isn't correct for a sander, it'd be easy to adjust the speed with a different pulley. I love watching all the things you build, I just dont have the time and worry I wouldn't get a suitable finished product like you so I figure if I can start with wheels and frame and go from there, I'll be sitting myself up for a better likelihood for success.
That's a really nice small sander, the nicest homemade one I've seen. I have a 1/4 HP motor from a dishwasher, I want to make a sander like this from it. Thanks
WOW... This is the first time I am watching one of your videos. Holy Cow, you are amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. You are a wood working genus. You have a new subscriber.
Had to buy the plans. Desperately need one of these in the workshop. Locking the portable belt sander in the bench vise is only so useful. Thanks John!
For the bad screw holes, you can mix up some wood glue and saw dust and fill them back in... those holes are basically filled with homemade MDF at that point, but better than nothing. :-)
Great video John as usual! I love how you aren’t afraid to show your little mistakes. I’d love hear hear the audio outtake from when you discovered the reversed piece! Scrap Bin maybe?😉 I bought the plans. Keep up the good work!👍😃
Hi there! I've planned too long ago to build my own sander. This is a really nice one. I should start sooner than later after seeing how nice they can come out. Well done! I hope the motivation kicks in right now. Regards, Etna.
Great build John! I’m ordering the plans now. Any chance your knocking around the idea of a 4x80 edge sander? There’s only a few out there and none of them are great! I’m sure you could come up with something much better.
I havent checked this motor out but do you think an old motor from a washing machine would work for a home made belt sander? The plans are great , much rather build than go buy a new machine. Thanks.
Hey John, great build, as usual ! Isn't a good idea to add a little plywood triangle on the upper table, against the vertical metal plate, to act as a square and avoiding the plate bending in when you push too hard on it ?

Do you think, a motor with 2800 rpm would work for this awesome machine or is it too fast?
Do you have plans for one without the four holes?
@@floriansoddemann Have a look at the build article, he explains it there ... I wondered about the motor speed as well.
@@ricos1497 can you not just *not* drill these holes?
What I like the most of it is not noise at all when in use and it is light and sturdy belt sander.
There's nothing better on Sunday morning than a hot cup of coffee and a new video from John!
This has to be the 10th belt sander you've made(at least that on youtube). I like seeing the improvements you've made over the years! Looks great!
Don't you know you got a warm pedagogical voice that adds up to the wonder of artpieces you are sharing? Can't be thankful enough. Thank you master!

I love the build and the techniques.
I also like the irony that for some of the build you could have done with a belt sander!

Making your own woodworking tools is a whole other level of woodworking.
Kudos.
I made this from the plans this past summer, nice compact design, works great.
I really like the plans that I got and really appreciate the cut list diagram for planning the amt of ply to get! Thanks John
Thank you for going into some detail about motor selection in the build article. That is something that I haven't seen covered in most shop tool builds
Nice build and narration. Thanks
I really like that the drive wheel is also the disk sander. I've never seen that before!
John you sir are a pure genius.
You are a Genius! Fabulous work!
Some of the absolute best tool designs and builds on TH-cam!
Wow, this is well made.
Fantastic design!!
Good job 🇫🇮

Really cool build.

I love your videos they make more sense when you do it like this
Very cool build John!
I am definitely building one of these
The switch cover there is pretty clever
Nice design !!
A clever two-in-one design!
You're an inspiration. Thank you for every construction
Looks like another great woodworking machine. Great video John.

You are a powerful wizard!

You are the Champion 👍👍👍
An editing tour de force!
Another great build John. Thanks for sharing
Eres un fenómeno, gracias por tus proyectos........
I was planning to buy a machine like this. Thanks to you, I might be able to build it myself. Thanks for the instructive video!
Hi see fpood
Very nice indeed! Thanks for the video.
Had to buy the plans. Desperately need one of these in the workshop. Locking the portable belt sander in the bench vise is only so useful. Thanks John!
Thank you!
Another great project and video. Thanks
Brilliant piece of kit that, John. Looking forward to checking out some of your other stuff. Cheers, mate !
Good one John!
Thank you thank you
Pretty cool John ima build one from your plans. Very clever design!
Nice looking build John!
excellent
Excellent setup...
Enjoyed it, John! These mini sanders are mega useful!
Simply amazing John! Thank you for sharing.
Very cool John. I built the first version of this (poorly) several years ago. I can't wait to (poorly) make this one too!
-poor because of my skills
Well done sir! I like the idea/ ability to “true” the wheels. 👍
Thanks another nice build , and thanks for the video
amazing project
Great work as always John.
Toujours parfait.
Wanted to make it then I saw one for $60 and bough it !! was fun to watch thu
For the bad screw holes, you can mix up some wood glue and saw dust and fill them back in... those holes are basically filled with homemade MDF at that point, but better than nothing. :-)
fantastic video fantastic belt sander (but i liked your older belt sander also)
Great video John as usual! I love how you aren’t afraid to show your little mistakes. I’d love hear hear the audio outtake from when you discovered the reversed piece! Scrap Bin maybe?😉 I bought the plans. Keep up the good work!👍😃
probably not family safe 😃
eccezionale , very beautiful, Antonino from italy
Super...... زبردست
Best woodworker on the internet.
Beside Matthias 😉
Way better than mathias!
@@EYALAVRAHAMI Back in the day, Norm Abram was the best.
Very nice John thanks. I have one problem, I need one of these to make one of these haha !!!!
Jolie réalisation bravo salut Jeannot 😉🛠
Fantastic!
great video editing...of zipping thru, but not eliminating that longer task of pin nailing glue ups
Looks very handy, I think the hardest part would be finding a motor to use.

very nice
Awesome tool, as usual.
But why do you only use glue-on sanding discs?
Velcro would be so much handier to change and align.
One of these days I will get the chance to build one of your plans.
John,
Amazing what you make out of wood.
Bill
You are amazing!!!
Nice! You couldn't have done it much better yourself!
I LOVE it .... and I JUST threw out our 3 year old washing machine with a perfectly good motor ...... GRRRRRRR !! LOL !!
How much dust can be collected at the bottom given the disc has no guard around it?
That's SANDsational.
..great build.
Great build and video. Silly question, but where did you get the motor?
Great build John! I’m ordering the plans now. Any chance your knocking around the idea of a 4x80 edge sander? There’s only a few out there and none of them are great! I’m sure you could come up with something much better.
John, where did you source the bearings from, for the top pulley?
Incrível. Parabéns.
I havent checked this motor out but do you think an old motor from a washing machine would work for a home made belt sander? The plans are great , much rather build than go buy a new machine. Thanks.
Perfect 👏👏👏
Outstanding!
Thanks!
Or outsanding?
Awesome John, thanks a lot! You are my idol!
все ваши приспособления просто супер. пытаюсь их повторить. жаль размеров нет
I would use blue Loctite on the pulley setscrew.
John. Could you tell me what the power of the motor is please? Would a drill do the job?
Hey John, great build, as usual !
