Another paint brush tip...to clean your brushes quicker, soak them in a bucket with warm to hot water with a little fabric softener. Learned that from a painter. This also works with rollers. They rinse clean quicker and they don't dry stiff.
Well I love the hacks and the refresh on old things I knew but God Bless you with that paint brush hack I dont have running water in my craft space so this is a game changer 😀 I am so happy now ! Lol its the little things in life that bring the greatest joy!
Pine blotches easily when staining. I recommend applying some Minwax Wood Conditioner prior to staining. It will help the stain color soak in more uniformly and result in fewer dark spots. I also suggest finishing the wood project and sealing it as soon as you bring the wood home from the store. If you bring the wood home and let it sit a few days, it can warp if your home environment temp/moisture is different from the store's environment.
I have a fleece sweater/poncho I wear in the winter. What I’ve been dying to do is make a version of it in cotton, similar shape but lighter weight so I can wear it in the spring/fall. I would also hope to add a few embellishments, special stitches, in order to make it prettier because right now it’s very plain. I’ve never made anything other than a flat panel in my own design so this would be quite a different challenge. Take care and stay safe!
Oh my goodness! I love the paintbrush with conditioner hack!! I have been painting stuff for years and never heard this. I have trouble throwing out the cheap paintbrushes too so I usually clean all of them but every once in awhile I leave it sit. I'm a total cheap skate even when I can afford not to be. I love some of my $1 brushes. However, I'm soo glad to know especially cuz I have some higher quality ones too!
Folk Art is probably the best bang for you buck when it comes to acrylic paint. It's also a brand I see a lot of professionals I watch use. The little bit of water trick is good for acrylic paints that dry out by accident (or time honestly). I've also heard that mat finishes are easy to gloss up. Foam brushes suck so much. Spray paint isn't the lazy mans way out. It's a lot of work and you have to know what you're doing to get that looking good. Spray painting into a cap and then using a brush can help if you don't have the right color in anything but spray paint. It's a pain to get out of brushes though.
I would also suggest raising the grain in the wood before applying the finish. After sanding use a DAMP cloth then let it dry. If you feel it again you notice the RAISED GRAIN. Sand it again then wipe back. This stops the wood being so rough after applying the finish 🥰🥰 Great tips thanks so much x
These videos are great I'm still in the middle of this one I'm just gonna ask questions as I think of them lol sorry Multi surface paint I understand being thicker and all that jazz, but what about a high quality acrylic paint like a golden or liquitex or a Windsor Newton?

It’s great to hear you explain everything so clearly. Love this video. I’m a beginner crafter so this is very helpful. Thank you 😉
You're always welcome!🙂
Wrap the used brush in a plastic bag so it doesn't dry out as fast....if you take a lunch break or run to the store, this is helpful.
Glad it was helpful!😊
Thanks for the detailed explanation 👍😀🙂
No problem!👍

Great idea with the paint brush cleaner, I have used paint brush cleaner next to the mineral spirits at your local hardware, works spectacular.
Sounds great!
