- Cleaned up this old S14 SR20DET valve cover for my 180sx build, and illustrated how you can do it too. [Short Video]
Benco B17 [1 qt]: $25 -- Reusable, barely used any for this project
Trisodium Phosphate: $4 -- Mixed with water to neutralize B17
KBS Diamond Clear Coat Aerosol: $18 -- Used one can
Rustoleum 2X Ultimate High Gloss White: $4 -- Used one can

Benco B17 is reusable and will strip powder coating and paints faster than any other chemical out there that you can buy without a commercial license. Do your research. Find out what PPE you need before handling.
KBS Coatings is miracle paint. You can apply it with a brush, a roller, out of an HVLP gun, or use their select aerosol cans. It's self leveling and dries as hard as a rock. It doesn't yellow. It's impervious to all the chemicals found in your engine bay. Even brake fluid doesn't blister it.

The white covers look so good! I may end up doing white on my S14 SR valve covers too
KBS is some seriously tough sh*t for sure man
I certainly think so. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video also where did you find oil filter cap?
That paint and diamond coat hold up over the years?
Is the link for 5-gallons of BENCO?
No sir. The link is for the 1-quart size.
I see it now. The stock photo was throwing me off but I see it's the quart in size.
Cool! Good luck on your project.
Thanks. How much of it did you use for this? Wanting to strip down some old control arms.
I used about a cup of it for this valve cover. However, it had some really thin spray paint on it as far as I could tell. I guess for you it all depends on if the control arms are front or back/upper or lower [bigger or smaller], and what the current coating is. My suggestion would be to buy the quart size and put the control arms in a plastic bin, then brush B17 onto them. See how that works. I've heard of guys wrapping their parts in cloths or old t-shirts and soaking with B17. From what I have researched and from personal experience, B17 works best when setup in a dipping station. Typically you buy enough to submerge the part completely inside for about 15-20 minutes, then take them out and neutralize the B17 in another dipping station with water and Trisodium Phosphate (TSP).
