Thanks so much for this! I was at Andasibe last October for a month, teaching English at the schools. It's amazing to see the high street again :) I recognise some of the children you pass from my classes!
I'd been trekking around parts of the island as part of a group of 17 people...but for the final week I went on my own to Andasibe to find and hear the call of the indri indri lemurs. I enjoyed spending time in Andasibe village - it gave me an understanding of Malagasy life. I wish I could get involved in some animal education and sterlisation programmes for some of the dogs and cats.
Ahh wonderful, I did that too! In fact, we could hear the lemurs crying from our beds at night! Did you make it to the semi-tame reserve up near Mikalo Hotel? It was amazing to have the lemurs climbing on your shoulders / head etc! There's a video of the Andasibe children singing goodbye to us on our last day on my channel - have a look if you want :)
Yes, I was volunteering with The Dodwell Trust, and staying in the accommodation attached to the Association Misinjo building. What were you in Andasibe for?
My pleasure... I'm pleased to bring back memories for you. It must have been really rewarding teaching English. Were you doing it through any particular organisation? Where were you accommodated whilst you were there?
