3:48 mentions "Captain McIntyre of the Olympic" A Project Britannica employee named John McIntyre compiled the February 1988 Mesh Report. A descendant, or the same person locked in time as Will McGowen was?
At 5:22 it appears that, for a split second, a black figure is coming down the hallway towards the camera of the guy who got killed in the elevator on Olympic. The figure could be the worker who was trapped in the double bottom, but I believe we are too early in the series to have any concrete evidence of that because he only first appeared in this episode. But at least we have a more concrete understanding of how the mesh spread, as most of the larger ships that were in the previous catalog video were there at the Mauritania's rediscovery taking on Olympic’s passengers as it towed it back to England. Edit: After watching the Interrogation episode for the hundredth time, around 9:48, it appears that someone is on the Titanic's bridge just outside of the wheelhouse.
Theory: The Mesh isn't some sort of virus that are on these ships by accident. It's something that engineers created. A new type of steel that can self form to create larger vessels. But they can't control it. Which is the reason for that crew member becoming entombed in the hull of the Mauritania at 2:20 Because the crew was messing with the Mesh's power that they thought they could handle... The engineers didn't realize that human flesh fed the Mesh, so when it sailed it consumed everyone on board leaving it devoid of life. When the Olympic and those other ships found it, the Mesh jumped from ship to ship leaving a bit of itself on them like an infection. It was then when Project Britannica came along after Olympic was retired that explorers found where the Mesh was lying dormant and began to feed it.
That sounds likely. The Mesh looks like something they would use to reinforce ships. That went wrong. And if they didn't want to admit the Mesh was part of the ships. They wouldn't have anyone go find the shipbuilders body that got sealed in. Or someone just didn't tell them. A superviser. And once they found out, it was far too late and the Mesh had got a taste for people.
Some observations: Apparently R.M.S. Campania was lost in 1904. Could potentially be a major detail. In any case, no Campania as an aircraft carrier in the First World War in this universe. A shipyard worker from South Shields (same location where the Olympic is docked in the Introduction tape) is entombed alive in Mauretania's hull. (This is probably inspired by a real-life urban legend of the same thing happening to a shipyard worker on the S.S. Great Eastern. This, of course, is an urban legend with no historical proof.) The music that plays when showing the abandoned Mauretania being found by the Olympic sounds like the hymn "Autumn", which some claim was the last song played by the Titanic's band. (Others claim it was the waltz "Songe d'Automne" while others say it was "Nearer, My God, To Thee".) S.S. Prometheus and R.M.S. Empress of Britain were also present at the scene of Mauretania's discovery. These same ships last appeared in the "Interrogation" installment, having been infected by the Mesh, likely from their association with the Mauretania incident.
"Autumn" NEVER pops up in historical sources. It is only a result of idiots shortening "Songe d'Automne" as "Autumn" or translating it to "Song of Autumn"
@@gunnarthefeisty Good to know, I never said I thought the hymn "Autumn" was actually the Titanic band's last song, only that some claim it is. We really have no way of knowing for sure what their last song was.

Imagine the Mesh is a vengefull soul that first consumed the souls on Mauretania and then expanded to the other ships, changing their history, and judging by the last image, the mesh can manifestate through dead bodies? small theory- could the worker sealed into the hull BE the mesh? If it spread on the mauretania, then surely thats why it was found adrift. The anger and torment of the worker sealed alive in a floating tomb turned him into a monster.
This has been very interesting. This basically confirms that the reason why the liners in project britannica’s possession are those specific liners is because they were the ships that responded to finding the abandoned Mauretania. I also think it’s worth noting most of PB’s liners are “related” so to speak to famous liners in our time. Olympic to Titanic, which also appears to have survived, Mauretania to Lusitania, and Empress of Britain to Empress of Ireland. SS Prometheus appears to be fictional, so I have nothing to say about her yet. We also have SS Waratah, which in our timeline disappears without a trace. Aquitania’s survival still stumps me but we have basically no info on her yet so I won’t speculate. Clearly, the mesh infestation began on Mauretania and spread to the ships that came to her aid when she was found adrift. That, however, still doesn’t explain why ships other than Olympic, Prometheus and Empress of Britain are infected. I’m sure we’ll get more info later but my best guess now is they simply didn’t know those three were infected immediately so they were exposed to some other liners. Now onto the big question everyone is asking. What is the mesh? Well as I said we know it began on Mauretania and can pretty easily jump to other ships, which is why Project Britannica quarantines the ones in their possession. It doesn’t seem to be able to jump to land though, all of these ships still exist and are just docked. Employees seem more or less free to just board them (depending on the level of infestation of course) and while it has clearly demonstrated the ability to kill, I believe that is still a relatively uncommon occurrence. After all, why let employees onboard at all if the mesh would just immediately kill them? It also demonstrates the ability to perfectly preserve things it comes into contact with. All of these ships should have been rusted out hulks decades ago, but here they are looking better than ever. While I can’t say for sure what the mesh is it clearly has something to do with the kid that got sealed into Mauretania during her construction. I doubt the mesh is directly controlled by his soul alone, as the mesh aboard Mauritania has consumed an entire voyages worth of passengers. So it’s probably some sort of concentrated human essence, all these people who disappeared, their bodies are nowhere to be found. Assuming the mesh is supernatural, which I think is a pretty safe bet, if these people just died where did their souls go? They had no bodies to control so maybe they converged into the mesh, taking control of Mauretania. There is still one thing I absolutely cannot figure out though, and that is Lusitania. We have no idea how she got infected, as Mauretania was almost immediately “disposed of” I doubt the two ships were ever close enough to infect Lusi directly; maybe I’m wrong, but I just doubt the two ships met in the time between Mauretania getting “scrapped” and Lusitania sinking. Other things. Britannic sank in what looks to have been a horrific disaster, interestingly in her civilian colors. We have so little info on her right now though so I wont speculate. RMS Campania was lost in 1904, and we know nothing about this incident. Again, I won’t speculate. Lastly, Cunard appears to be history by the time episode one is recorded. I think they even mention talking to White Star at one point, so it seems they were either bought out by a much more successful white star after the merger, or Cunard went bankrupt before the merger happened in our timeline. Either way QM2 and all those are likely non-existent. I spent way to long writing all this haha spooky ships go brrrrrrrrrr
when i started watching this series, it did make me think of 1899, but when i watched baz's video where he mentioned it i was kinda shocked cause id never heard of it before or after i found it on netflix and assumed it was a super-niche even in the ocean liner community, so the unexpected amounts of acknowledgement of it kinda took me aback
Wait a minute. In this tape it labels that the Mauretania was broken up for scrap in Scotland. Yet in the interrogation, Mauretania is listed as part of Project Britannica’s collection. Anyone else find that odd?
It seems like in this universe cunard is the one struggling rather than white star but cunard is struggling even more in this universe the Olympic class were their original design
So basically the Lusitania and Mauretania are laid down, launched and enter service slightly earlier than they do in our timeline because Cunard wanted them done quicker due to the sinking of the Campania. Correct?
Very tragic that it was likely one man, one simple worker in a fleet of others, to be entombed alive in a gargantuan vessel of plating, and never be heard from again. I'm also likely gonna agree with one comment, that the Mesh first started as a new kind of steel birthed from tragedy or maybe the entombed worker, with the latter having spread across the entirety of the vessel. Maybe the Mesh is what the entombed man has become, a deformed mesh with the hull being his skin, the pipes now his veins, boilers, engines, his heart. The ships themselves? They're now his feeding ground, and ones he can toy with, manipulating whichever ones he can come across and deform to his will. It would make perfect sense that The Mesh was a singular or cluster of workers having died during construction of the vessels, whether from accidents or being sealed in, deform and mesh into a being that can turn any ship into a vessel of its own to control. To take revenge or simply out of their control, its a plausible theory. (EDIT:) I also feel like the theory I proposed works in favor with the Lusitania, as likely, people died constructing the ship and then fitting her out afterwards. I would assume that the more The Mesh spreads to a ship, the worse its habitation level goes down. Likely the reason why Mauretania wasn't seen for months was due to the fact as said a while earlier, the Mesh from the sunken Lusitania transferred over to her sister after the latter passed over the wreck. As a result, The Meshes combined took hold faster and consumed all occupants aboard much faster than a ship infected with a single mesh aboard.
Ok, here, small theory. My theory is that Max IS the Mesh. His soul refusing to leave the ships, and continue to haunt them. At the end, the black figure in the hallway could be him, the Mesh. Also, perhaps it's only me but, the strange figure looks a bit like Slenderman 😅. Tell me what you think about it.
I'm sorry, but I'm not very knowledgeable on ships (Locomotives are my forté, but this series has intrigued me). Can someone please tell me the name of the ships from left to right at 3:45 ? I am terribly confused 😅

Given that we just heard part of a tape last episode about how to handle boarding her, I don't buy that for a second! It sounds to me like Project Britannica is holding onto her, and simply telling everyone else she was scrapped.
@@RMS_GiganticThis, or the Mesh has some ability to re-manifest scrapped ships through paranormal means. Maybe there’s some connection with time travel like the Lusitania survivor in the previous episode.

Theory time. : mauratania is still haunted but much more, more monsters are forming (mesh) then make more mesh. The ships that are safe might be next.
What was that 5:20

Wait a minute. In this tape it labels that the Mauretania was broken up for scrap in Scotland. Yet in the interrogation, Mauretania is listed as part of Project Britannica’s collection. Anyone else find that odd?
Yeah I'm kinda confused on that.
I hope you find a way to use "Nightwish - Sleeping Sun" when talking about Britannic again
Wait, were the ships in Set 1 all the ships involved with the Mauretania recovery? Interesting
Correct?
What the hell happened to the Campania?
Something spooky I’m sure lol
Aquitnaia Archives here we come 🗣️🔥💯
The analog horror series that keeps on cookin 🔥
What version of the Cunard March is that?
Nice narration by Liam Sharp well done Jack
we need a the poseidon adventure 1972 film (Analog Horror)
Whoever did this video did a PRETTY good job at recreating the authentic look, sound and feel of a documentary recorded from an off-air VHS-tape!...
(EDIT:)
I also feel like the theory I proposed works in favor with the Lusitania, as likely, people died constructing the ship and then fitting her out afterwards.
Even if nothing's set in stone yet, some of the theories are really starting to come together after this one
Tell me what you think about it.
as a ship geek, happy ah brought it to more people while learning SOME actual history as well!
What's the first song called?
May i ask what the last picture was?
In my theory its mauretanias double bottom and behind the black box is the reamains of the worker
Mike brady from oceanliner designed is prob proud of you. becoming popular and stuff i love this series
I'm not crying, you are!
I know im late to this but WHAT HAPPENED TO CAMPANIA I NEED ANSWERS
Okay so my game theory is that the mesh started growing off of Max’s dead body

I'm sorry, but I'm not very knowledgeable on ships (Locomotives are my forté, but this series has intrigued me). Can someone please tell me the name of the ships from left to right at 3:45 ? I am terribly confused 😅
Left: RMS Mauritania
Middle:: RMS Olympic
Right: RMS empress of Britain

Mauretania gets the spotlight! :D
So......could the mesh be a vengeful soul physically manifested?!?
would mauritsnia and olympic have made much of a difference in WWII had scrapping been delayed or something
The guy who got trapped in the double bottom of the Mauritania is the mesh!
Coming across this video after bingeing a bunch of nautical study vids is very jarring lol
Man maybe we could get film theory to start theorizing on this stuff. this is seriously so cool
THAT'S why the Mesh likes engineering spaces!
What if it is like that popular theory that titanic and olympic were swapped but with Mauritania and Lusitania
2:23 Um guys Could it be that this 17 year old kid was the reason for all the change of events that lead up to project Britannica?
is there a community discord for the channel?

Her crew was dead and the engines potentially rendered inoperable by the Mesh

5:20 the mesh...
so Mauritania is scrapped, I won't lie, somewhat anti-climactic
Given that we just heard part of a tape last episode about how to handle boarding her, I don't buy that for a second! It sounds to me like Project Britannica is holding onto her, and simply telling everyone else she was scrapped.
@@RMS_GiganticThis, or the Mesh has some ability to re-manifest scrapped ships through paranormal means. Maybe there’s some connection with time travel like the Lusitania survivor in the previous episode.
