Great video, Luey, thanks for sharing! Are the sealed rubber cups necessary on the Lotus? How do the LED bulbs cool down? Did you put some vents in the cups? On a previous LED headlight conversion I did on a motorbike, the sealed rubber cups made the LED bulb overheat and fail since the LED fans were recirculating the hot air in the cup. Since it was a motorcycle and the lights are very exposed to dust and dirt, the only way I could use the sealed cup was to use a passive cooling LED bulb (with a copper/stainless steel cooling braid that could stick out of the rubber cup to cool the bulb). I am hoping that on my Elise Cup 250, I can get away with not using perfectly sealed cups.
Thanks I think it is necessary to have the cups since its not fully sealed behind the headlight, the wheel arch liner only partially prevent water and debris from entering. I don't think overheating is an issue for the bulbs I bought since apparently they run quite cool, they have a fan built into the back of the unit. It is a good point about recirculating hot air but so far I haven't had any issues at all. It might entirely depend on what bulbs you buy
I've heard they pass MOT in the UK most of the time, since my car is new it doesn't need a WOF for 3 years so we'll see...I don't see how its a problem though as long as the beam pattern and level is ok
Great vid, thanks Luey. Have you got a link to the page about 90 degree change for S3s? I’ve fitted 9100 lights but it feels like the beam is pretty low.
to you have to turn the bulps on both headlights in the same direction, or is the other conterclockwise? - Where have you found the information to this?
@m11ny the listing for mine is gone unfortunately. They were 85mm wide but I think 83mm might be better. For depth just get the ones with the round half sphere shape that should be fine
Thank you for the video, just mad the upgrade. Used Ultinon bulbs + and deeper rubber bushings. Only secured the rubber bushings with zipties
Nice, I'm really happy with the upgrade, working well
Looks much better than OEM

This has answered a question I've had for a while - whether LED bulbs are OK with LTSA for WOF purposes...

Yep check this comment and a few before this one forums.thelotusforums.com/topic/99314-led-headlights/?do=findComment&comment=966068
Ah, got it. Thanks again for making this vid 👍
thank you very much

Hello Luey`s -
What sizes were the dust caps?
Ahh apologies the listing expired, they were 85mm diameter but I think 83/84 would fit better. They were slightly loose. I'll update the description.
Hi Luey how are they holding up after 2 years? & estimate on frequency of use?
Holding up perfectly, I don't use them that often because I don't drive at night much with my Exige but they seem to be just as good as new still
@@LueysGaragethank you Luey, what is the length of the aftermarket cups required for the LEDs? & did you find they were too long/ short at all?

Hello ! Great video. Could you tell me what led you used for the license plate ? 36 mm ?Thanks
Thanks, you're spot on they were 36mm
@@LueysGarage thanks you.
Great video. When you turned the led lamp part did you turn it through 90 degrees so it’s pattern is right for the reflectors?
Yes sorry if that wasn't clear in the video, I did turn it about 90 degrees :)
Thanks mate! Enjoy your epic Exige!
Ohhhhh the lights do have fans on them. Can you hear them spin, or?
Nope they are very quiet, but I can't hear much when I'm driving the car anyway hahaha
Just wondering if your used HB3/HB4 bulbs correct ?
Yep that's correct, follow the link in the description for the ones I purchased
Lights look great! Are they legal on NZ roads?
They should be, I don't see why not. May depend on your WOF person, I'll only find out in 3 years time
Have you link for the caps by any chance? Cheers
Its all in the description :)
If you don't want it ,I WILL TAKE IT OFF YOUR HANDS FOR FREE.
