Not sure if you’ve solved your problem but get the valve cover gaskets replaced next time you change out the spark plugs. I have an 08 is250 and I spent all of 2021 dealing with a “engine oil level low” message on the dash. It would come on a month after changing the oil out and the smell was apparent something was leaking and burning. Eventually did the valve cover gaskets and car has been fine since. Oil level is consistent and no light on dash. It was an intermittent light too where it comes on the shuts off. Dealt with it but these cars deserve to be fixed up and taken care of they are special and slowly becoming more sought after and seen less on the road.
I have a 2010, (AWD) which I purchased in 2019 (before COVID). I'm the second owner and it had 102K miles Lexus (my local dealership) has all the records before my ownership. I have replaced a speed sensor (makes check engine light go on) and unfortunately, I've had to replace the exhaust system. Where the two Cats meet tends to rust out, a flaw they didn't recall but later fixed. I now have, almost 4 yrs later, 108K miles. I replaced rear brakes (normal maintenance) but still need new rear rotors. Again, general maintenance. My former car was a Volvo which still had its original exhaust system after 19 years and 163k miles. The engine was fine, but the new sunroof replacement still leaked b/c the tracks were rusted and I couldn't find a replacement track system. Also I would have had to replace the rear window in order to install the new track system. Too much $$ to put into a car that barely had a $4k BB value. To correct "Car From Now On," the Lexus IS250 has 204 hp not 250 hp. IS250 means a 2.5L engine and the IS350,.....yup you guessed it, has a 3.5L engine with 311 hp. I have an '08 with 162,000km and it broke down on the side of the highway because the AC compressor failed. Thought I bought a reliable car, but clearly not. Everything is run off one belt so if something fails, it kills the whole car.
This is down to poor maintenance rather than the car not being reliable. If the AC is re-gassed and re-oiled every couple of years and if belt and pulleys are changed when necessary, you won't ever face such an issue. Also, what do you mean everything is run off one belt? Do you expect the car to have a different belt for AC, water pump, and alternator? Car is reliable as long as it is maintained properly. Poor maintenance will kill even the most reliable of vehicles.
@@antonc3405 I'm 18, got it as my first car and I made sure that the car was maintained well, regardless of anything else. Don't get me wrong, I love this car so much but it's really got it's problems too. It's just infinite money pit, even with it being a Toyota/Lexus. I know that on some Toyota cars, the AC compressor doesn't run on the same engine belt so even if it were to fail, AC wouldn't work, it wouldn't kill the whole car.
@@Deadmoney6 I have had the same car for two years now and haven't had any such issues. However, the first things I did when I bought it was to change all fluids (oil, atf, brake fluid, coolant, differential oil), change spark plugs, as well as belt, pulleys, and tensioner. I wouldn't say it's a money pit, however, keep in mind that it is a luxury vehicle and maintaining it will cost more than a regular Toyota. I also drive mine on crappy roads with lots of potholes and have only changed the front anti roll bar bushings so far, nothing else on the suspension, and this is with 18'' wheels. If you maintain the car and use OEM parts, it will last you a long time, though some OEM parts can be expensive.
@@antonc3405 my 2004 Infiniti G35 has a separate belt for the AC compressor. It's a better way to engineer the accessory belts since AC compressors of all manufacturers have been known to just seize up.
We used to keep "short belts" in the trunk in case an AC compressor went bad. If they did, we would just bypass the AC compressor with the shorter belt and just keep driving on.

I pulled up the service records and the one owner before me serviced the vehicle religiously at the Lexus dealer for the entire lifespan of the car.
If they did, we would just bypass the AC compressor with the shorter belt and just keep driving on.
you sound like gollum
This car is horrible on gas. It's not fuel efficient at all. No idea how you made that one of the benefits of this vehicle
Why not explain? What’s your MPG
What? I’m averaging 25-27mpg w/245k on the clock.
Appreciate the IS250 but hate how delusional owners of toyota products act like toyotas (or Lexus') are the only cars that can be reliable. Owned plenty of cars that are older and for more than a year without a check engine light coming on lol 😂
My 2001 Nissan Sentra has 250k and was abused heavily by previous owner. It just won’t quit.
Yeah I own a 2011 VW golf 2.5. Had it for 6 almost 7 years. 163k miles and 330miles to a tank. Everyone said it would've completely broken down by now, even I thought it would! It's still going strong and daily driven with regular maintenance I do myself.
True….my Lexus IS250 has 245k miles on it, but my Tahoe has closer to 260k with no issues.
Half of double is 50%
The 2is years were from 06-2013, and the 2is IS 250 had 204 bhp, not 250. Also you should test drive an IS 350. It’ll make you want to trade in your 250 for one.
I thought it was from 2005
