Hi Richard, just discovered your channel yesterday and loving all of your content! Been steadily learning/practicing horsemanship the last few years and it's a dream to live like this someday. Thanks for the inspiration, looking forward to more videos! - Ben
Bo, he is a smartie pants, pretending to drink so he doesn't have to cross the river. haha! We had horses growing up and they are a lot smarter than some give them credit for. My horse was always slower and hesitant in new environments, she had to be sure things were ok before moving forward. Sometimes that meant standing still until she scouted the area with all her senses, once she thought it was ok, she would move along. It was a slow process at times but when I was riding trails or back roads I was in no rush to get any where fast. :) :) Thanks for sharing. :)
Man this channel is becoming must see tv. You’ve got all the other camping/ bushcraft/ outdoors channel beat by a mile. Keep up the good work home fry, you’ll be a household name soon!
What a dandy camping trip! Yes, that gorgeous blue water is begging to be fished. The folks at work have just about got me talked into a Fly Fishing kit; I think that I'm just going to have to do it. THANKS MUCHO for this post!
@@OverOnTheWildSide Yeah, the whole process just looks like a hoot, whether You land one, or not. We had a Fly Casting Seminar at work, and the guys showed me how to do the "10-2" overhead. I LOVE working lures & being proactive when I fish, so I believe that Fly Fishing and I will go together well...!
@@OverOnTheWildSide I haven't watched part 2 yet but I have a feeling you've done more than enough. Like I always say, it's your own thing in your own time.
Looks like a great adventure brother! When I had my mustang I had dreams of doing endurance riding but owning a horse without land as a college student is only practical for the wealthy. I am happy to live vicariously through you though, thanks for the video!
Did you hear that there’s a gal winning the endurance races with a mustang? I think I read about it a couple years ago. Sounds like you had a good plan, besides the broke college student part.
Yes they go after flies a lot, one of these times I really need to bring my fly pole. What a rush it’d be to catch one of those monsters with that pole.
I was going to take my steel horse up in the mountains again tonight for an over night after work, but I was running late today getting stuff together and thought I forgot to turn off the oven but it was off haha, but hey I’m home I got to watch your video, I’ll head out tomorrow, cool man, I need some animals to pack up instead of me being the pack mule haha, that’s funny you walk faster then the horse
Haha! I know that feeling, I’m glad it worked out. Goats or a llama are what I’d use for packing if I didn’t have horses. I’m pretty sure you pack light like I do so one or two goats would be plenty.
Imagine you went camping with the family and you went to gather some fire wood and seen this man in the bush 😅 you’d think you seen a ghost or you’ve time traveled lol
It's good to do some walking and leading. I stopped wearing boots riding and used tapaderos too. I heard that was the reason the military saddles were uncomfortable. I rode in North Bend,WA. You looked good out there. Miles under their feet and wet and saddle pads!!
Can you go over your gear & how you packed it while still being able to ride? It’s how I have to roll as I don’t have any pack stock. Thanks!! Love what you do!
I was hoping to post another video with a lot more info. I may not get to it for a while. Do you follow me on Facebook? If you message me there I can send you a video showing how I did it.

Do you get many ticks out there. If not send me a quart fruit jar with a return address. I'll gladly fill it up for you. Just turn them loose. It's that simple. In a year or 2 you'll be enjoying them like us 😅🤣😂
In the river crossing scene you get an idea of what it’s like riding Bo. He’s a great horse but he has his ways.
😂
I’ve only been around a few horses but they all seem to have their own “special” personality at times. It’s borderline funny.
For sure! They’re all characters.
Bo sure is beautiful, looks pretty safe too ....
@@tracyiler8650 yeah he’s a reliable guy.

Fly fishing is amazing! Although I’ve never caught one, the casting etc is just a wonderful thing to do.

You’re gonna hate this but I hardly get any ticks! By July I rarely find them on my dogs. Hopefully it stays this way, no jars needed haha!
It is a video I can't tell that well but it looks like your saddles a little bit too far forward
It may look that way because my padding constantly slips back.
It would be funnier if you carried him in your back when it got hard
