I grew up watching old westerns and Jack Elam was always a favourite. His comedic sense and the style he brought made the "Support Your Local ..." my all time favourite roles to watch him in. Swifty Morgan will never be forgotten. Thank you for this video about an interesting man who made so many people scowl and then laugh.

So, he was blind in the left eye at 12, and had a lazy right eye. His mother died when he was three.
And still helped out the Navy, was likable, had not one but *two* happy marriages and a productive life.
A lot of people could learn something from Mr. Elam's example. Myself included :)

      No doubt
He clearly had his head screwed on straight.
By this excellent account from Jerry, we learn that not only was Jack a real legend as a character actor, but a great human being who was devoted to his wives, only parting them in death, and being a good friend to that kid with the advanced aging disease.
      RIP

Does anyone remember the movie about the famous oil well fire fighter, red Adair from 50/60era ??? Didn't John Wayne play Adair ? I haven't seen or heard of that in any reference in any bios? Am I wrong? It's so clear I'm not sure I have right memory!! It was a great tribute to the courageous jobs they did back then.....we need their help with this crazy fire season?.. maybe they'll have ideas to save Land, homes and lives!!!

Mr. Elam was one of the most colorful and versatile character actors to ever grace the silver screen. Mr. Skinner once more has put together a frank, honest, thorough and always respectful video of a beloved movie icon. A fine job sir!

I always loved watching Jack Elam in any film he made. Even though he never studied acting or went to any kind of acting school he was a natural. And his looks and bad eye helped his image for some reason! He was a great actor and when he started doing comedy I loved his movies more. Rest in peace Jack. You certainly deserve it.

The last made for T.V. movie I saw him in was "The Sacketts" where he played Ira Bigalow. That movie starred Sam Elliott, Tom Selleck , Ben Johnson and Glen Ford. Jack Elam was always a great addition to any movie he was in, may he R.I.P.
