Such a wonderful life. So nice to know that there were such good men in the world. Responsible, heard working, creative, a good husband and a good father. Just lovely.
One of my very favorite actors Richard Widmark! You knew it was a good movie if he was in it. Thank you Jerry and R.I.P Mr . Widmark. We will never see your likes again!
What an actor, what a man! If only we all could live our lives as Mr. Widmark did, what a beautiful world we would have. Thanks Jerry. A fitting and wonderful job you did with this. I think he would be proud of your work.
He not only took care of his wife in her later years, he took care of his brother. He was injured during the war and Richard made sure he was cared for and his medical care was taken care of. He was such a good person. I always like him.
Mr. Skinner, many thanks for the superb manner in narrating about these Hollywood stars. Richard Widmark was always one of my favorites and you did an outstanding job. All the best!!
What a beautiful story of such a wonderful, loving, loyal, kind man, husband, father and great acyor! This isthe best story about Richard Widmark ever!!
How can anyone give this a thumbs down? Thumbs down for what? Such a wonderful man. Thanks for the tribute! I love his movies and obviously he was an exemplary human too!
I absolutely LOVE anything he starred on as he was one Hell of an actor! I understand he also had a very strong personal character. He openly received Sidney Portier (WAAAY before segregation was popular!) at his home and even took him under his wing. One of my all-time favorites! R.I.P. Richard Whitmark!
Richard was a wonderful man. And actor. He was so good at acting that I, and many others, thought he was really the mean SOB that he played in movies. He was so good. Thank you Jerry for this great story of his life. He was so special and good.
As a child in the 1950’s, going to a movie once a week on Friday night, I was always pleased to see Richard Widmark in a western. He seemed to have a presence. He exerted a gentle energy that I felt, but that I’ve never been able to ‘peg’. A while back I purchased a DVD called (I think) ‘Night in the City’ . I was almost shocked to see that he could truly act! This must have been part of what I sensed as a child.
My kind of "MAN!!!!"They don't come any better then this!!!!Honest, hard working,Commited to ones family and friends!!!Thank you Richard your "Example" which will never be forgotten!!!! From a loyal fan since the Fifties!!! June 2 , 2019.
Thanks for so many great memories Jerry. I loved Richard Widmark from the first time I saw him in 'The Street with No Name'. I was 6 at the time and never forgot his great performance then, and his many since. He had a unique and unforgettable face ideally suited to tough guy roles, I felt. All your work is much appreciated Jerry.
Jerry your voice & your insatiable desire to dig DEEP leaving no Stones UNTURNED in order to deliver the VERY BEST BIOGRAPHIES! I salute you for bringing Richard Widmark's life story to all of us, what a GREAT MAN he was! Thanks ever so much❤️
I was so happy that an actor that I admired so much, was a great man, husband, father and son too. Thank you for a great job ,that brought us a wonderful story about him.
Thanks for this wonderful video. I saw Night and the City as a kid and it stayed in the back of my mind for years. When I saw it again as a grownup, I realized that it was Widmark's performance that made the movie indelible. He always seemed more a working actor than a movie star and he left behind a master class in film acting, from his defining bad-guy roles to self-effacing character work. A couple of other terrific Widmark performances that are worth seeking out: Skip McCoy in Pickup on South Street (from Samuel Fuller) and a beautiful late-career character study as the sheriff in "A Gathering of Old Men".
This was a very talented man, always thought of him as an icon, his acting was top notch too bad he did not win an award. RIP Richard Widmark, he is a one of a kind of an actor.....
Love Richard Widmark .. talented, handsome....and a faithful husband.( now I know there was a good reason why I was in love with him )..what a man....( where can I find one just like him )... thank you for the beautiful video, with so many interesting details and information....he will forever be my favorite actor...an epitome of a gentleman.......greetings and again thank you .....from Seattle, Washington........
What a perfectly done and lovingly done bio. Perfect in every way ! Richard Widmark's story is fascinating and it is no surprise that he is a man of integrity ... I have always thought he was ... ya can just tell in a person ... even if they are playing a lout or a thug ... he was a good man.
Jerry, your videos are absolutely wonderful and could be used as teaching materials they are of such high quality. God Bless You for your efforts and live long and prosper.
He was a great actor I always liked him . You know he always came across as a cynical sort of character on the screen , even when he was playing nice guy roles . Mr Skinner......I really enjoy your documentaries. Each one is very well made, and I hope you're able to make many more. Thank you very much from and old Marine.
I met Richard Widmark at RAF airfield Blackbush England in 1954 or 55. He was there on location filming “A Prize of Gold”. I was only 10 at the time but loved movies and recognized him right away. He was gracious and friendly. A real classy person who gave Hollywood a good name.
just superb jerry! i just loved richard widmark, and remember him making an appearance on the old i love lucy show. thank you for this! what a marvelous gentle soul he was.
From my earliest years Richard Widmark was my favorite actor. He always seemed calm but still in charge. He was never flustered even under tough circumstances and his westerns were among the best ever made.
Thank you Jerry, that was so moving I was a life long fan and always admired his character and basic decency. Just wish someone would publish a similar book of his life and work.
Thank you for such a great bio on him. Mister Widmark was never given the credit that he deserved. He was a great actor he could pull you in you forgot you were watching the movie if you were watching him. There were a lot of great actors in his time and that was probably part of it. And unfortunately he was also type cast at the beginning of his work and forced to do a lot of contract movies. But most of them were really good even if they were just contract movies. He was a gentleman and I think he exuded the fact that he wasn't a cheat he wasn't a drinker he was honest.
Thank you Jerry, that was lovely to watch. What a nice man Richard Widmark was, and one of a kind in Hollywood to stay with his wife for 55 years. What a special Human Being.
This was such a well-done piece on Mr. Widmark. I enjoyed every minute of it. I never knew much about him, but always enjoyed seeing him onscreen. Thank you.
Jerry, There is so much I did not know about Richard Widmark! What a wonderful actor and person he was! We are losing them all now and I am very sad about that, there will never be stars like these again. Thank you so much for all your videos Jerry, they are excellent.. Anne
All these years I've wondered if Richard was anything like the villains he played. So pleased to find out he was a kind and gentleman. Really appreciate your work Jerry. So far all of your videos along with your narration, with fantastic collection of photos and life information is extremely entertaining. I'll keep on watching!

A thorough and great job as usual Jerry. Richard was a great actor and I loved seeing him on the screen and in television. It’s a shame all of these legends and their work are not shown and more widely distributed on the air. I was lucky to have grown up in the golden era of Hollywood. All we get today is trashy low quality, foul mouthed reality programming.

great documentary/biography. Richard Widmark was a great character actor, ... but an even better human being and husband/father. glad to see how you emphasized that fact.
Jerry thank you so much for this short biog of Richard Widmark, an actor I have always respected and enjoyed watching. I liked him a lot in an unusual film for him: Night and the City a British made film in which he played a hustler and club tout whose plans to control wrestling in London lead him into a dilemma that finishes him off. He is absolutely brilliant in it. Not a western but a film noir which I think is his best performance, even better than his debut. Keep these biogs coming Jerry!!!
I enjoyed this so much! Richard Widmark was one of my favorites growing up. He could play the hero or the heavy. I think, "The Last Wagon," was my favorite of his movies. It probably wasn't his best work - but that doesn't matter to a boy watching a black-and-white television when the story and the characters draw him in. Yeah, I like Westerns too.
A touching and sincere tribute, part of a wonderful series... Understated and all the more powerful for it. With Richard Widmark being a deserving subject. Think Film Noir, think Widmark.

Hi, Jerry. Richard Widmark was truly a wonderful man. I am quite familiar with Western flicks, especially the Italian ones like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (Il Bouno, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo in Italian). Your voice is truly inspiring. I wish you a splendid day, Jerry. My birthday is on April 19, which is next week.
Thank you, Mr. Widmark, for the many films from The Last Wagon onwards, you and Mr. Gregory Peck were and still are my favorite actors, I watch your movies over and over, and I know there are millions out there of the same opinions. May you rest in peace with your family you will never be forgotten. God bless Clive & Pamela Mainwaring.

Thank you Byron and i wish you a very happy birthday on the 19th. Jerry
