    My wife ordered one for my Birthday and it came in a few days before the dreaded one year older day. I found your review watched it and set up my Sun Oven thanks to your in depth demonstration. Can't wait to use it. Probably after the vinegar cleaning. I subscribed to your channel as I am one to prepare for any type of emergency or disaster.

    Bought mine a year ago. Every time it is sunny outside I break it out and cook all or part of the evening meal with it. Bought the cover last winter so I can keep it looking nice. Excellent Video!! Cook On!

    When camping with a dutch oven, you could sear/brown the meat first on a campfire, then put that in the solar oven with the veggies to finish cooking...

      From my experience, food doesn't ever burn in the sun oven. If you leave it wayyyyy too long, it may dry out, but normally, the vessels used to cook in hold the moisture, so it takes quite a lot of time before that would ever happen. The 'Prepper" here indicated that he put the meat up on the lids to keep it out of the juices, not so that it wouldn't burn. Interesting idea.

    I worked harder getting that dang plastic off the reflectors than any cooking I later did. I take my Global sun Oven camping with the family and have fresh cinnamon rolls ready by the time the family starts getting up. I have an oven in my trailer but only use it at night.

    Glad you made this vid. I still smell plastic fumes though even after cleaning with vinegar, airing it out & even leaving baking soda in afterwards. I was wondering if you had a lingering smell & if so if there’s a way to keep it from affecting the food if there’s really no getting rid of it..

    the product sounds like a great one. I like the product. my friend at the beach used it to cook with using aluminum foil and shared crock pot food that was real good. if you got a lot of time to wait for the sun and to cook with. this is a great product

      @@dpostuk I did make my own a year ago. Works great and can get up to 300F plus. It's pretty heavy so I made a cart for it.
      Still I wouldn't mind a solar oven if they would only give me a free one. :)

  • @francisa751

    The vinegar is once to disinfect the oven from the manufacturer, or each time you use it ? Thanks.

  • @angiekrajewski6419
    @angiekrajewski6419 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    One question..it means that you have to around the oven to change it every 15 minutes....to focus on the sun....or are the panels doing the stuff to catch the sun rays ...the best way ...by being some like a parabolic cut....would it help to put an extra plastic transparent door on top to keep more heat inside?....

  • @Christian_Prepper
    @Christian_Prepper 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Questions are:8:50 What was the temperature outdoors?What time of year was it?How often did you have to move the oven over those hours?

    • @larryjacobs9761
      @larryjacobs9761 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about his but I have cooked at 350 to 375 in the snow in the winter.

    • @Christian_Prepper
      @Christian_Prepper 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool. Thanks for the feedback. So were you able to accomplish that without ever having to move the oven or did you make an effort to readjust it to keep track of the sun over time?
      Because it stands to reason that when the oven is positioned properly it can reach optimum temperatures, but in order to maintain the optimum temperature I would have to tweak it position periodically. Which I'm fine with. I'd just like to hear it from someone else so I know what to anticipate. Thanks

    • @larryjacobs9761

    It's November 2019 and I'm just now watching this video. Wondering though I wanna cook a 15 pound turkey and I noticed you put those rings underneath the meat is that to prevent it from burning? And do you have to put those lids underneath the meat every time?

    • @AndreaM77
      @AndreaM77 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kids are to lift the meat so it can cook evenly, bottom too.

  • @jonathanrogers9961
    @jonathanrogers9961 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would think with the dutch oven it would retain and more evenly distribute, or rather be less sensitive to variations in temperature.
