You should try it out. It has one of the smoothest combat system and even if you only cycle between a few moves, it’s still cool as hell. Also Vergin makes the game super easy so better spend 10$ on him
I was so hyped when I saw this trailer it was amazing, and it was even better to finally experience it...It's a 10/10 for me, and I'm waiting to feel something similar when they show DMC 6.

That's a lot less hype than I expected. This game is the coolest experience that digital entertainment can provide (minus V), so when I clicked on this video I just expected people to go apeshit over it
I think this is because it was revealed in an xbox fan base. I might be wrong but maybe if this were shown for playstation this would have had LastofUs2 levels of hype.
It didn't have to do with the reveal being in the xbox comference. The real reason for the lack of hype was the change of artstyle compared with other entries, it even resembles more dmc: devil may cry than DMC4. People at the time would even question if that was nero on the trailer and many didn't cared about him since DMC4, and some others believed it was a new reboot after the failure with dmc. And lastly, people just wanted dante and wanted dante gameplay. None of it really stopped the game from being a success on launch tho
I remember waking up one morning on a holiday. I grabbed my phone and opened TH-cam and I saw the trailer for DMC5. My initial reaction was confused to why Nero had a haircut but everything became clear when I saw his arm got ripped away and Dante riding Cavalier at the end
I remember I was raiding on WoW during that E3 conference, and someone in the raid had watched it all. I asked, expecting nothing from them, "Did they announce a new Devil May Cry?" and the guy replied "yeah". I shit you not (I was raid leader) I INSTANTLY created a DBM break, muted discord and clicked onto TH-cam so quick. Crazy
I remember my friend was disappointed because he thought this was a DmC sequel. He thought that Nero was Donte until the title reveal at the end lol. But I knew it was our bro. Still dumb that the Microsoft reveal cutted off Dante at the end. I had to wait for the trailer to show up again just to see that lol.
5 years later and a few thousand hours actually playing the game and still this trailer still gets me excited all over again. Fuck i love this series I don't give a damn THIS is the best action series of all time and nobody, NOBODY! comes close.
Its baffling how little fanfare there was, i onow xbox gamers tend to be more casual but DMC5 genuinely had the best reveal out of any game that ive ever seen. We all thougjt the series was dead after the shitty reboot and the way this trailer teases fans with the opening was just immaculate, then Devil Trigger plays as the hype consumes you. It was such a cathartic reveal and the game totally lived uo to the hype, something not many games can do anymore

Y el juego logró lo que no pudo hacer el 4, que te interese Nero y que no solo sea un imbecil enojado, realmente este juego con su nuevo gameplay y el desarrollo que le dan a Nero, hace que Dante sea el complemento y contentar a todos. Hasta V no se siente como relleno, el como Nero ayuda a su padre(en su mitad humana separada) y al final este se lo agradece antes de su batalla con Dante y que decir de como cierra la rivalidad de los hermanos, y dandole la profundidad que Vergil por si solo no tenia, solo siendo el tio guay, haciendolo mas humano... por mucho fanservice que sea, fue la mejor decisión que pudieron tomar los escritores. Lo que si no me gustó es que no hicieran lo mismo que en el 4 con la Special Edition, ya que en ese podias jugar tambien con Trish y Lady, cosa que aqui no nos lo dieron :(

is it just me he didn't like this game? seriously it's so inconsistent with previous chapters, too full of silly moments and the characters are reduced to specks of themselves, what is the end of the characterization they had built? the moments that want to be "epic" instead are ridiculous and lacking consistency with the previous chapters, a practical example is (spoiler) (the death of Dante's mother because in the official and canonical manga dmc3 is represented very brutal and bloody with ravenous demons who tear apart a woman in front of their child, brutal but perfect to understand ľ Dante's hatred of demons, instead in dmc5 it was represented in a completely different way with her running away in search of Vergil after hiding Dante in a closet and she dies not because a demon attacks her but because due to the flames the wooden floor collapses under her feet, goes completely contrary to what they have always said, and this is just one of the many inconsistencies in the game, and then only I have noticed that Itsuno is visibly tense and embarrassed during the announcement, he seems almost forced to stand there making this announcement, in my opinion he didn't want the dmc series to take that turn from dark, gothic and mysterious to punk and messed up and in my opinion he wanted to end it all with a third chapter set completely in hell with a Dante determined to end it once and for all by killing the last two infernal lords, for with a final sacrifice to destroy them entire infernal dimension by giving his life to save millions of human lives and give peace to humans and especially to himself, sorry but I think I'm right.
tl;dr With your manga knowledge you should be able to tell that all the events in 5 are natural continuations of the story. So what if the visuals and audio are less gory and explicit? That’s not the only thing important to a narrative. And this series has always been goofy. Spoilers ahead Nero’s story is done much better in this game. As a contrast to Vergil who was blinded to his original wish to protect himself since the Sparda mansion incident, Nero wants power in order to protect those close to him. Nero spent most of 4 being a pawn in people’s schemes as the few he cared about got hurt in the process. In the first chapter of 5 this continues as he’s forced to abandon Dante, Lady and Trish to Urizen because he’s not strong enough. All of that pushes him up the Qliphoth, growing more powerful so that he can ultimately succeed in finally stopping the potential deaths of both his mentor and uncle Dante and the father he never knew in Vergil. We see a very logical continuation of Dante‘s personality as he grows much more tired of the world around him. He’s lost many people close to him and thought he killed his brother. You see through 5 how much he tunnel visions when it comes to Urizen and Vergil, pushing people away because they’ll just get hurt in the long run. Even Redgrave, where he grew up in is in ruins because of the Qliphoth. He sees no other path than to kill his brother to put a stop to him for good. During their last fight Dante even admits that he’s basically forgotten all the good memories they had and only remembers their fights. Vergil’s journey as V in the manga helps him develop the human side he’s repressed. He learns that it’s okay to call on people for help and while he still holds a grudge for Dante there’s a part of him that still enjoys being around his little brother. We see him multiple times in the game open up to Trish who resembles his mother and Nero, his son in ways he never would have if he wasn’t forced to be V. At the end of the game Vergil is surprisingly okay with just having a fight with his son to settle his and Dante’s score because he’s learned how to be human again even if he still harbors pride in himself.
So, your complaints are: 1. DMC 5 showed Eva running from house and dying off screen, instead of being reaped by demons on the eyes of her son (yes, dying off screen, what do you mean by floor cracking underneath, I hear that for the first time). 2. *You* think OG setting is better and saying Itsuno thinks the same. I don't get your wave of thoughts, buddy.

Your only plausible argument for the inconsistencies in DMC5 was Eva’s death, which we never even properly saw in DMC5, and who cares? What matters is that she died at the fault of Mundus and Demons, sure you could say Dante would hate demons more if she died the way she did in the manga, but Dante would hate demons regardless, that’s what matters. I mean, his mother died in his own home, a few seconds after she helped him, he didn’t even say goodbye! That’s already enough for the audience to believe in Dante’s anguish.
