Little did I, having studied post modernism as one of my sub subjects, know that post modernism had such implications, moreover in context of our Eastern culture & traditions. Postmodern thought challenges the notion of absolute, objective truths, positing that all knowledge is situated within specific cultural, historical, and linguistic frameworks. This resonates with the philosophical concept of relativity, wherein truth and meaning are understood as being influenced by the perspectives and contexts in which they are embedded.
On the other hand, the notion of absurdity draws from existentialist and absurdist thought, particularly as articulated by thinkers such as Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre. Absurdity means inherent lack of inherent meaning or purpose in the universe, leading to a sense of disorientation and perplexity. Postmodernism, with its rejection of overarching narratives and metanarratives, often confronts the absurdity of existence and the plurality of conflicting interpretations. By synthesizing relativity and absurdity, we can capture the essence of postmodernism as a worldview with fragmented nature of reality while acknowledging the inherent sense of disorientation and perplexity that arises from the absence of overarching meaning or truth. This synthesis encapsulates the postmodern inclination to question and deconstruct established systems of knowledge and meaning, while embracing the diversity of perspectives and the absence of universal certainties. In this light, the characterization of postmodernism as a synthesis of relativity and absurdity offers a thought-provoking perspective.
