  • In this review video, Mr. Cast Iron demonstrates how to use one of the top rated digital infrared thermometers today. For more on the Erickhill infrared thermometer, check it out on Amazon at: amzn.to/3Oz9OxI.
    Can you use an infrared thermometer for cooking?
    Yes, you can, and the Erickhill Infrared thermometer is best used in a cooking environment, but there are other areas where it could be used. For example, use it to register the surface temperature to protect your children on playground equipment. Also, food and serving pans can be checked if you own a restaurant buffet or operate a catering business.

    After the heatwave we've been through, I'd use this to check the temp of the lawn furniture. Some metal lawn chairs will sear your butt like a 12-oz porterhouse, complete with grill marks. 😃

      Yeah, I didn't think about lawn furniture, but that is something else it could be used on! I’ll take the porterhouse, though, lol!!

      Yes, I usually start at the high side and then turn the heat down lower because cast iron retains heat. You’ll have to experiment with it, but I know you’ll get it figured out!! Let me know how it goes ok!!??

  • @Kakkoii_ne

    Is the temp reading only surface or can it also tell you the inside temperature?

    • @MrCastIron
      @MrCastIron  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is only surface. It does not read internal temperature.

  • @marktoldgardengnome4110
    @marktoldgardengnome4110 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think this tool would be handy if cooking with CI on a pit or bbq grill, as
    there is no real good way to monitor the heat of the coals/fire so you'd
    need to know the pan/pot temp to control you pit temp. I don't trust the
    thermometer on my grill, and it's not a cheap unit. If I fire up all 4 burners
    on low it hits max 650 degrees in no time. So we use a 4 probe Ink Bird
    to monitor not only ambient temp, but internal temps for long cooks, or
    our Thermo Pro instant read.
    The "About this product" on Amazon, the very last sentence reads,
    "Temperature readings from these IR thermometers are inanimate objects, the measured temperature for humans or animals will not be correct." The reason for bringing this up
    is the negative reviews were mostly about incorrect human temps. It's not it's purpose.
    Other than that, nice unit Mike. TYFS

    • @MrCastIron
      @MrCastIron  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I’m with you on not trusting my grills thermometer. I don’t know why they are so inaccurate, but mine sure is. I meant to mention this is not intended for human use, but I failed to do so. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, my friend!
