Thank you for helping to reduce the protein overcooking epidemic in America. Only trust a good thermometer. Pressing on a steak, waiting for juices to run clear, wiggling a chicken leg, etc. are hocus pocus (that's an industry term).
Keyword, outdoors! It’s amazing how much my griddle temperature fluctuates depending on the temperature outside, an infrared thermometer is a must. Thanks for all the wonderful tips Johnny!
That's the same one I bought for my first griddle this year! Happy you always mention an infrared thermometer otherwise i would have been burning everything right away. The best advice.
1:27 that’s me every time I try to film me cooking 😂 $30 is a great price for a dual thermometer. I just bought the infrared thermometer from harbor freight yesterday for around $25 and already had the probe thermometer. If I had known that one you have was $30 I would’ve bought it first. I’ve seen other TH-camrs using it as well.
Cool dual tool. I have soooo many accessories and tools. I just love gadgets. Love the smash burger trick. Learned that from CJ on the Blackstone channel last year. Works great. Happy Father’s Day.
LOL! I purchased the previously recommended laser thermometer. It arrived today and I’m now seeing this. I already had a probe, so I didn’t bother considering the 2-in-1s on Amazon. Cheers.
lol well I'm glad you got an infrared. I already had a probe too when I first got my griddle. Then during our move to the new house I lost it witch prompted me to go looking. Well I appreciate you purchasing the other infrared gun thermometer. Cheers!
Johnny, that is the same infrared thermometer that I bought. It worked fine for 2 griddling, but then pooped out. I was going to cook breakfast for my wife, daughter, and her family, but when I pushed the on button, all I got was Err. I called the company yesterday, and they are supposedly going to send me a new thermometer with no questions asked. All I had to do was take a picture of the readout, provide all my shipping info, and text all that to them. I didn’t have to come up with my receipt, which of course I threw away. I will let you know how this plays out.
oh dang that's no good. I hope they don't have problems I will have to take the video dow if it does. I dont want to be out here promoting bad products. Well at least they are sending you one no questions asked. I haven't had issues yet so we'll see. Please do let me know how the next one goes because like I said I will take this down if there are more issues. Thanks Greg.
@@JohnnyBrunet I will get back to you as soon something happens. I will say that they got back to me about 20 seconds after I sent the picture and address information. They said they got everything.
Howdy Johnny, have to agree the two in one infrared thermometer is the way to go. Did you know the perfect internal temperature for a baked potato is 208 - 212 degrees? I didn't until I started using an internal temperature probe. Have A Day! ;~)
I just ordered one through the link Johnny. Thanks for suggesting it again. I now have 1 I use on the grill, 1 I use in the house and 1 I'll use on the griddle. I need a bigger house. More gadgets!!! Great video Johnny, thanks.
@@JohnnyBrunetReceived the ThermPro today. I just measured the front of my house which faces west. 122 degrees. My wife's car was 154. Not too bad in Arizona today 🥵
@@mikedefalco7791 wow that is crazy! I just started watching another guy who does griddle videos and he comments on mine some times. Its called Ramblers back yard. I think he is in Arizona as well and has some mist things on his back porch. I'd never seen anything like that before.
@@JohnnyBrunet we have a mist system and an evaporative cooler on our patio. It's like an outside air-conditioner. I'll check him out but you'll always be #1 in my book!
Hi Johnny, help a guy out. If you take a paper towel and wipe a griddle, is what comes off of it looking brown normal? I never feel like my griddle is clean.
Ya depending on how much oil is on there it can come off brown or black. If you want it perfectly clean just turn it up and lett everyting burn off. It's just left over oil or fat from other cooks. So it's almost like burning off a coat of oil during the seasoning process but you're just burning off what has built off. Should only take like 15 min.
I usually don't prob it before the flip. With steaks I go about 5 minutes then flip and see where I'm at temperature wise. That being said the temp of your griddle and thickness of your steak all play a factor. If it's a thinner steak 5 minutes may be too long. But I think 5 minutes, flip, then take your first temp is a good place to start.
I find I get more consistent temperatures by pulling my Blackstone inside my living room to cook because it’s not affected by the weather. JK Do not do this! Cool video!!! 🍔
