I don't know why, but this version has a more bittersweet feeling as compared to the original one. And yet its hypnotic and beautifully done at the same time
This version transcended through time and matured with the myriad experiences and phases in life... at the end of a long journey, it is the freedom and ability to do the simpler things in life with friends and family in a tumultous world that makes us feel really appreciative of Singapore... our home! Well done Kit!❤
"HOME" is my favorite NDP song. Many of us grew up with this song, and at every point in life, it holds a different meaning and evokes unique emotions. The 25th-anniversary remake version of the song is remarkably introspective and intimate, especially when paired with the beautiful video. It makes you reflect on what truly matters in life, and that is... home. I love that this version meets me where I am now in life. So much feeeeelssssss.
Perhaps it is the timing that makes it so apt. A quieter version, more introspective, even subdued. Coming at a time when things are not quite right in our country. Our government is trying very hard, but everybody has their flaws and people will still want to sharpen their knives. In our time of trouble, this year when we sing "Home", let us contemplate what it means to be Singaporean and collectively, be a better version of ourselves.
Thanks to Dick Lee, that distant ‘cousin’ that you can’t stand some times, but you’ll miss when he’s not around - Dick thank you for writing this wonderful song, it’s so you, so Singaporean, I totally love it. Thanks to Kit Chan for lending her wonderful voice and style, and for this ‘improved’ version of a beloved song which I thought could never be bettered - thank you for weaving in so much more warmth and love! And most of all, thank you my fellow Singaporeans, you are home to me!
I grew up with this song too, as a Johorean, without knowing this is a Singapore’s NDP song. As I’m entering into my mid 30’s, this version of Home fit my current stage of life better. Beautifully crafted, without fancy features, just pure emotion.
Usually a remake doesnt sound as good as the original. But this version was written well. Not oily, without too many ‘singing tactics’, just raw emotion.
The "feels", especially the visuals. The every day that seems mundane and dull, with the passing of time and distance, takes on a different color, a tint that reminds us of a simpler time, where we feel comfortable, safe and at ease.
I was living in Australia when I first heard this song... Even though I was thousands of miles away, a part of me will always be home... When this song was played, cried my eyes out and my colleagues thought something bad happened but all I felt was home sickness... 😢
This production and revisit is beautiful. The most loved song of Singapore has just up the ante and set an even higher bar. Kudos to Kit and all the production crew. It's.. simply... lovely. Home.
The pauses add so much depth to the song. It gives me time to think and really feel the lyrics. As someone who grew up listening to this every National Day, I feel that this song encapsulates all the emotions of growing up. So much feels. Thank you, Kit Chan!!!
Wow the feels.....i was living overseas for quite a long time but this song kind of contributed to my return to Sg. Its been 25 years since! And although there had been ups and downs still love Sg dearly and this version sung by an older Kit captured it all. 💖
Many of us grew up with this song and has grown up with it too... Love the new version which is so beautifully intimate and close to life. Thank you.. it's wonderfully produced. It will always and forever be my favorite NDP song
25 years ago, we interviewed Kit when she was making the music video of the original 'Home'. I still vividly remember it was in a old house with a inner patio, and there was a swing in the middle of it. Still seems like yesterday, but we were all in our 20s then, how time flies.
Sitting in house 25 year before and after , the difference of time and stories keep me remember how much it may have changed along the way but to me it's HOME,
Many foreigners with citizenship and sucking up all the benefits are quite ready to quit Singapore when crisis hits. Just ask PAP to reveal the number of foreigners who gave up their PR and citizenship from 2020 to 2022.
A timely remake of an ironic song that is remains dear to many Singaporeans. Thank you Kit, Dick and Sydney for the original and the reminder of Home for all Singaporeans throughout the world. I miss Home.
Thank you, Kit Chan, for such a heartfelt remake. I was in P5 in ‘98 and had the privilege to attend the NDP rehearsal that year with the P5 cohort. As with so many others, I’ve grown up with this song and I love how the message you sought to convey with this rendition truly came through ❤
Like this new version, it's a more grown up version. Kinda reflects where I am in life now. The original represented the younger me. Singapore is and always will be home, no matter what.
An emotional and heartfelt rendition. I have also grown up, just as this song has grown up. Singapore isn't rosy to me like it used to be, but this song is still meaningful to me.
I saw this through a straits time article, and I couldn’t believe this got remake. This is much more bittersweet than the original home, and it even hits a bit harder, I’m glad to see this remake early on, hopefully it gets played in NDP this year.
Our family favorite. It captures the nostalgic moments for us, having a meal with family, at the hawker centre, time with friends and just the little things that makes us Singaporean especially when we are living thousands of miles away. Thank you for presenting this and it is certainly refreshing but at the time does not take away the originality of the song. Singapore is truly and surely HOME for us! 😃😃😃
After listening twice there is something about this remake of HOME that brings back memories from the 1st Kit Chan sang and the many times she sang plus making a remake of it... Well done Kit Chan in doing this remake of HOME...i will keep it and listen over and over agin. nce again well done
Listening to this new version reflects on my childhood memories with my family in such a peaceful and nostalgic way. It has so much feels. Singapore will always be my home.
this hits hard when ur are overseas for a long time. Sometimes, the sense of community is all you need to make it through the day in a foreign land. My all time fav song. Love the announcement when the SQ crews announces when u land in Changi Airport. " to all Singaporeans.. Welcome Home"
This remake brings home to heart & mind those days growing up watching SG grow from strength to strength. Those old enough to witness the turbulences tt SG hv overcome to get up & stand taller than she ever was. Thanks, Kit for bringing back poignant but beautiful moments ❤
I HAVE ALWAYS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT OUR LEADERS ARE AMONG THE BEST IN THE WORLD - THEY ARE ALL SO BRILLIANT AND INDUSTRIOUS! I MUST TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR STEADFASTNESS ❤. WITH THEM AT THE HELM, I AM FILLED WITH HOPE FOR MY MOTHERLAND, SINGAPORE.❤❤❤
❤ it’s hard to watch this. It captures the essence of what I miss being away from Home. I feel as if I am part of the video and hanging out with everyone there, comfort and nostalgia and pride :) thank you!
Beautiful and heartfelt remake. Love this introspective take and the deep sentiments towards our home. Very thoughtful blend of both our individual and collective journeys since the late 90s, alongside Kit and Singapore. Look at how far we have all come..and will continue to move ❤️
Listening to this when it first came out when I was in primary school and listening to it now when I'm 34 years old. It really hits different. Thankful for being a Singaporean. ❤❤
"Home" is hands down my fav NDP song. it evokes different feelings and memories, depending on when and where I listen to it. I can't decide which version I like better since they're both very relatable and speak to me in different ways. that said, this version certainly reflects better where I am in life now. thank you for making this version :)
Wow! My go-to song whenever I miss home.. A song even my kids are familiar with. The music video shows some familiar locations in Singapore..A more mature version, we have been through life’s journey, of tears and laughter,25 years on..
Love this emotive version. This is a landmark song that has stood the test of time... I love both versions of it for different reasons. Thanks, Kit for this present to the nation. ❤
I don't know why, but this version has a more bittersweet feeling as compared to the original one. And yet its hypnotic and beautifully done at the same time

Hypnotic indeed. Especially listening to it, late night alone. Just a different vibe, almost like a different song.
Maybe when one matured and experienced more in life they become more emotional. They know more about life
Maybe it signals the beginning of the end of Singapore as PAP drags the whole country under.
@@tangt4860 Singapore will be fine with or without the PAP. It was already thriving before 1959.
this hits harder when you're working overseas, longing for the familiarity and comfortness
That’s why I returned after all those years, Singapore is so convenient for me
agree ... missing everyone at home
Agreed! Listening to this while living and working in Australia, and boy is it hitting hard. ❤️

Wonderful masterpiece by the team and amazing job as producer, Carrie!

So true. Let's put the hate aside... it's time to pull things together rather than tear things apart due to emotions and agendas.
The unofficial second national anthem, beautifully sung once again by one of our national culture treasures. ❤
“Home” by KitChan is the only NDP song that gives me goosebumps whenever it was played.
i’m not crying, you’re crying
Thanks to Dick Lee, that distant ‘cousin’ that you can’t stand some times, but you’ll miss when he’s not around - Dick thank you for writing this wonderful song, it’s so you, so Singaporean, I totally love it.

What does oily mean here? Pretentious? Overdone?
For me, this rendition carries 25 years of life's ups and downs in it. As I listen, it touches a very deep part of my heart.
No flash, no gimmicks, just pure vocal prowess. Kudos!
I feel that when listening to the old version during NDP. Make me cry and proud of being a Singaporean..
The "feels", especially the visuals. The every day that seems mundane and dull, with the passing of time and distance, takes on a different color, a tint that reminds us of a simpler time, where we feel comfortable, safe and at ease.
The GOAT of all National Day songs!
It’s a song that I will play in my device when I am flying back from a trip to Singapore. My Home.
I was living in Australia when I first heard this song... Even though I was thousands of miles away, a part of me will always be home...
When this song was played, cried my eyes out and my colleagues thought something bad happened but all I felt was home sickness... 😢
I love home.
my favorite NDP song. I am not Singaporean but lived and worked at Singapore for 8 years, almost my 2nd hometown~

I checked out the swing you were talking about 😊
많이 좋아한 노래입니다. 리메이크도 너무 좋네요!
still gives me goosebumps~
Sitting in house 25 year before and after , the difference of time and stories keep me remember how much it may have changed along the way but to me it's HOME,
My Favorite song always, makes me feel homesick if I'm hearing this from overseas.
AS ALWAYS - SINGAPORE, MY MOTHERLAND; NOW AND FOREVERMORE ❤
Many foreigners with citizenship and sucking up all the benefits are quite ready to quit Singapore when crisis hits. Just ask PAP to reveal the number of foreigners who gave up their PR and citizenship from 2020 to 2022.
the only person, as far as i am concerned, who can really sing this song... we will still be humming this tune 25 years from now. 🥰
Everytime i listen to this song, i always cry. Grateful for this Home, our Singapore ❤
This version hits the home run..
Very sentimental and truly emotional.
Listening from Australia. Singapore 🇸🇬 ❤
Not me ugly crying from my hotel room in Manila. Thank you Kit for this masterpiece. ❤

The vocalising after 3:30 is hauntingly beautiful..
A timely remake of an ironic song that is remains dear to many Singaporeans. Thank you Kit, Dick and Sydney for the original and the reminder of Home for all Singaporeans throughout the world. I miss Home.
Dear Kit! All the yrs your voice is remarkable. A born in Singapore fan.

Cinematic style captivating with nostalgic moments with the evergreen voice of hers!
Ahhh... Kaya toast breakfast set.. Uniquely Singapore.. my home truly.

Truly a Singaporean Reunion ❤❤❤🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬
This song brings tears to my eyes…. Always. Our 2nd national anthem.
I will forever be grateful we are an independent nation forging our own path ❤
This version has a sense of comfort, a comfort you feel when you’re at home…
Any version of this song sung by Kit Chan is gold. Love it!
After listening twice there is something about this remake of HOME that brings back memories from the 1st Kit Chan sang and the many times she sang plus making a remake of it...
Well done Kit Chan in doing this remake of HOME...i will keep it and listen over and over agin.

so so beautiful. thank you for remaking history ❤
This song hits home whenever we finish our road march.
Listening to this new version reflects on my childhood memories with my family in such a peaceful and nostalgic way. It has so much feels. Singapore will always be my home.
Goosebumps every time I hear this song... Love this version! Well done and thank you Kit Chan for this song!
So long as it's Kit Chan and Home, it works.
Grew up listening to this song. This MV brings it to a whole new level. This is so well produced! So much feels. Literally 陪着我们一起长大,心境不一样了,但❤一直都在。
Watching this as a Singaporean adult in my mid twenties really hits different (while overseas for studies too)
this hits hard when ur are overseas for a long time. Sometimes, the sense of community is all you need to make it through the day in a foreign land. My all time fav song. Love the announcement when the SQ crews announces when u land in Changi Airport. " to all Singaporeans.. Welcome Home"

Legendary 💯

I'M A MENSAN - THE WORLD'S MY STAGE. BUT I CHOOSE SINGAPORE TO BE MY SWEETEST HOME. SO, WHO CAN SAY SINGAPORE IS TOO SMALL FOR A GENIUS?? 6:25
brb crying rn
Thank you Kit Chan for this gift to us. Truly this version is sentimental and intimate to most of us.
Listening to this when it first came out when I was in primary school and listening to it now when I'm 34 years old. It really hits different. Thankful for being a Singaporean. ❤❤
Thanks again after more than two decades! ;-)
Like food simmered in a slow cooker, beautiful songs grow with flavour imbued as it goes through the passage of time, norishing both heart and soul.
Nice remake, we can use this version for a more sentimental video. For singing at NDP, original tempo will remain be my favourite.
Goosebumps. It's not those gala big songs that bumps you up; light as breeze, but pierces right into the heart..
Home is my most favorite NDP song
Celebrating 25 years of my childhood beloved song 'Home', now it's the quietest home! 🏠
"Home" is hands down my fav NDP song. it evokes different feelings and memories, depending on when and where I listen to it.
I can't decide which version I like better since they're both very relatable and speak to me in different ways. that said, this version certainly reflects better where I am in life now. thank you for making this version :)
after so many years, home is still the best ndp songs
This is Home. ❤
I feel this song was meaningful when it was shoot many many years ago when life were much simpler back then.
So Beautiful ❤❤❤Singapore our home 🏡
Wish they added some Asian Koel aka the WuWoo! bird in the background
Wow! My go-to song whenever I miss home.. A song even my kids are familiar with. The music video shows some familiar locations in Singapore..A more mature version, we have been through life’s journey, of tears and laughter,25 years on..
Thank you Kit Chan
Love this new version so much! ❤❤❤
Love this emotive version. This is a landmark song that has stood the test of time... I love both versions of it for different reasons. Thanks, Kit for this present to the nation. ❤
Reflectively beautiful and still so iconic. Thank you for the heartfelt rendition.
This is nice too
At age 67 this is still my favourite National Day song
I cried
This version should be just called goosebumps and memoirs galore 😊
❤❤❤ our home Singapore. Also ❤ Kit Chan 👍
Kudos to Dick Lee for writing the song.
greetings from Aruba miss SG
Beautiful
Strong memories of when we all line around the Padang in 2015, singing home
