So many things to love in this mv. First singer Linying-lovely, soothing, quiet voice. Shabir, I can't believe I hear him for the first time. What a soulful voice, just stirs you in the deep. The next animation where one steps off the boat and ran on the track, leaps over a hurdle, did a ballet turn, with a baby running to his dad... That whole sequence was beautiful. The transitions were smooth, and it gives a sense of so much space, reflecting how big the creator's mind is. All in, AMAZING production. As a middle aged, I can feel that surge of talent from younger Singaporeans in this proudction. Everything from filming, singing, song writing, animation.. Talent with so much heart. And multiple depiction of spatial vastness reflects the aspirations these youngsters have. I am so so so proud of you guys... *tears in my eyes*
IMO - the song acknowledges our challenges, but is both hopeful and quietly confident. It recognizes our past and celebrates our present (through animation). It doesn't pretend to be cool or be something it's not, and it's genuine and heartfelt. It finally sounds like what an NDP song should be. (It's also easy and nice to sing, and the video is wonderfully creative and AMAZINGLY done.) This is easily the best NDP song of the past 10 years, and almost definitely even further back than that. It's the first song I've listened to on repeat and that I've actually wanted to sing since the late 2000's.
Greetings from Indonesia, I first time listen this song on the Kiss FM Online Radio Singapore. This song is full of means and spirit in the COVID-19 pandemic. Happy Singapore Independence Day
Into my twilight years but I am very heartened to see, hear and feel the rhythm of the youth in this NDP composition. It shows maturity in understanding that the past was not easy, but the future has a template for success that the youth know how to unlock. The traditional economic success no longer works but the more existential issues of relationships and sense of love for our families, friends and fellow Singaporeans are the cornerstones of rebranding our nation for the next century.
As an aspiring animator I am so impressed at how the animation involved went from just Lineart to coloured animation to a refined paint animatic and then it become more amazing 🤩 I like how so many artists come to put this music video to life I’m hoping to be come one of them someday
Have to give kudos to the person in the organising committee who allowed the artists the chance to do the project their way.... usually so much red tape in government projects!
A Singapore’s PR from Indonesia. Served my NS in 3SIR year 2000 and manage to experienced amber alert standby in Singapore after 911 tragedy, and spent my secondary ACS Barker and Primary there In Singapore as well , converting to fully pledge Singapore Citizen soon 👌
Anyone noticed that 1) We were actually seeing the little girl's dream, before she wakes up at 2:29 2) The animation slips back in an in animation once the girl 'meets' Linying outside her dream at the bus stop. It nicely goes with the lyric, "...we did it before, and we'll do it again..." How brilliant is that!
Almost 50yo, heard many NDP songs. Many in the past 10-15years were cringeworthy and forgettable, except the one done by Ramli sarip, and this one. This is warm, and importantly showcase the next gen’s hopes and perspectives. Hope to hear more heartfelt reminders of our belonging to this island in the years ahead. Congrats to the team who did this. And please do it again in the years ahead. Happy advance National Day to fellow Singaporeans.

Although I’m from Hong Kong. When I listened to it for the first time,I was deeply attracted by this lively theme song. And I hope Singapore will be better and better once the pandemic ends.
I am so proud to be a Singaporean.. we have so many young talented music persons who come forth to write such beautiful and heartwarming song for our national.. love this song!!
This production is simply so creative and entertaining.. did anyone notice the cute otters taking the bus too? 🥰🤣. A deep appreciation to all creators and collaborators towards this effort. I’m very proud of our talents here.. Singapore got future!
I'm from south korea. When I travel to Singapore, I was unfamiliar with Singapore, but I feel that I want to travel to Singapore again after two trips to Singapore. I hope the day will come when covid19 becomes stable and we can travel. And I subscribe to the NDP song channel and listen to it every day.
I feel that this song is the Home of this era; it is so pleasant and heartwarming to hear! Thank you to the composers of this song for giving us such a memorable NDP song!
This heart warming and encouraging song is the best gift to Singaporeans. Together we will pull though and overcome this crisis as a nation. “Though the road ahead is daunting, but I know we’re gonna be alright….we did it before and we will do it again…”
We Singapore had been through thick and thin since 1965. We will continue through many centuries here in Earth :) ❤️ Whatever happens, remember how Mr Lee and many other pioneers ministers build Singapore from scratch and nothing to Now. We had did it before and we will do it again. 💪🏻
I am a foreigner, but I truly feel at home here in Singapore. The country has been so welcoming to me, its my second home. Such an apt song for these trying times and it really captures the Singapore spirit. Keep moving forward Singapore. We did it before and we will do it again. Here's to the road ahead
I find this song pleasant and heartwarming. Finally something good after years of gimmicky music and songs. Looking forward to seeing this sung during NDP. 😊
Really like this NDP song very much! I think many Singaporeans would be able to relate to the song, young or old. Refreshingly different, meaningful, heartwarming & yet uniquely Singapore without being gimmicky and cheesy like most of the past NDP songs! Probably the best NDP song so far by! With these lyrics, melody and voice, this will definitely an "ageless" song. Another version of "Home" still standing tall!!!... Well done team Singapore!!!!!!!
Anyone noticed the song started from morning (upbeat music) till evening and when Shabir voice came out for the evening segment it became very soft and soothing like a lullaby to enter into the night.
Actually it started from around mid-day, then sunset when we reach the CBD scene, and night time during Shye's second line, then sunrise, the kid wakes up, then Shabir's voice, and the birds start singing and they prepare to open the shops....midday....and then zoom right to sunset again. lol
When I first heard this song, I was thinking to myself who does this lovely female voice belong to and then I recognised Sezairi's voice, I was dead on impressed. This is probably the best NDP song in years after Home. Thank you for making me feel all nostalgic and bringing back the memories. Good job NDP peeps.
the 'kids' absolutely crushed it....as a Gen Xer, I would say this is the BEST NDP song in decades...the beautiful arrangement, the heartfelt lyrics, the animation and oh that bridge that made me teary...when an NDP song doesnt sound like an NDP and yet moves us, thats how NDP songs should be....well done NDP committee for taking a chance with linying and the rest...on repeat on my TH-cam...
Kudos to the production team for doing the unprecedented, filming within COVID-19 restrictions and making good use of graphics to illustrate the beauty of our island and the people. The song is also very soothing and warm. Indeed, we did it before, and we will do it again! Stay strong SINGAPORE ❤
Whoever composed this song , you nailed it , and hit it home big time ! Not forgetting the lyrics which were so relatable and inspiring . I’m sure most of us were kinda soul-lifted when it hit the verse ‘ we did it before , and we will do it again ‘ . That verse blend in sooo amazingly well with the lyrics , especially when Sabir sung it on a lower octave , I basically goosebumps , every time ! Gotta be One of the best NdP song , Unrivaled !
0:46 The hook is really good... really gives us goosebumps and evokes the frog in our throat. Especially with the rousing drum beats, like someone beginning to run 💕
This is by far the most original and meaningful lyrics for NDP. There is also a 4 different languages cover version which is a good show case of Singapore multi cultural society.
"It's always darkest just before the dawn. We did it before, and we'll do it again" Against the backdrop of this pandemic, this song truly give rise to the hope that we cherish, and something that we will work hard towards, as one people.
This is one of the best NDP song that touched our hearts and we have to value every grains of sands that what make Singapore where we are today. Therefore we have to work harder to prepare us road ahead of us…
Really impressive how they used the environments and animations. Love how they are so creative in overcoming the challenges to make this video. Can cry sia.
Finally a great NDP song similar to those we had in the 80s, this is after many cringe worthy ones we had a couple of years ago. Beautiful rhythm with meaningful lyrics that will inspire our nation to take on whatever challenges that we will face ahead, especially in these uncertain COVID times… The Road Ahead… brilliant! 👏👏👏👏👏
After so mamy years, they finally managed to invoke the feeling of nostalgia i once had. Brings me back to my primary school days where we sat in assembly hall while singing NDP Songs. Well done! They finally made something really good after 2012. 😭 i really love this one
Finally. Very long don't have this type of NDP song already. Thanks for this NDP song for giving us a renewed inspiration. This song really got that energy that would encourage everyone to not think about going back to pre-covid times, but to keep advancing forward and bring about a better tomorrow.
This is the best and nostalgic NDP Theme Song ever. From the time stamp of this video clip (3:15 - 3:30), it also showed another stretch of residence at Teck Whye Lane, which continues to bring me back my wonderful childhood memories too. I'm really loving it so much. 😊😇
This is IMHO the best NDP song since the last decade, probably since Kit Chan's Home NDP Song . And i won't be ashamed to say that this song is gonna be on my playlist , a first for a NDP song. Keep up the great job for the whole team who created, animated and produced this touching song.
After Kit Chan's Home, there was a dry spell. Finally a nation's song worthy to be sung. Kudos to the whole team for putting this together. The melody is catchy, lyrics awesome. The singers' voice a delight to the ears. Inspirational.
I rarely post comments but I have to share how touched I am by this awesome work! Best song ever since 2005! Melody, lyrics, animation, everything is just wonderful! Thank you to all who made this! 👍👍👍😍😍😍
I love the animation transition from one to another (guy running to cooking to biochemist). Very nice. Simple, catchy and very relatable to typical Singapore life. One of the best. It is part of my playlist now😊
Idk why hearing this song makes me emotional...probably because this year is my last year in primary school...gonna miss my friends and classmates... the last year for national day together to sing this...😢
Agreed, this is so good... Don’t worry, you’ll never lose your Primary school friends! You’ll find amazing friends in Sec school, too! (I would know, I graduated from Primary school last year ^^) Also, hello fellow Stay and Engene XD
This kind of hits the same spots that home did. It's a bit sad and melancholy yet uplifting and hopeful? It embodies sort of a quiet determination to keep going
To the creators, vocalists, cast, designers, directors, producers and everyone involved, you melted the hearts of everyone on this red dot.. maybe even JB and Batam.
If there's one thing that will bring this nation stronger together, it'll be this song! Heard it almost a hundred times and it still gives me tears of inspiration every time... For our family, our friends, our island.
Wah.. this hits home. Love the use of younger singers and the mix of our 4 races (assuming lady in green is Eurasian). The visuals triggers glimpes of our daily life & grind, envisioning brighter days for our future, along with the cartoonish flashbacks of nostalgic memories.. Very well done!!!❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations Evan, LinYing, shye.mp3, sezairi, Shabir and to all involved in the production of this song and video. Clearly the best song to come out in 2 decades, aptly reflecting our past, the present and giving hope and inspiration to our future.
I find that NDP themes that don't mention Singapore by name are the ones that sound a lot better than the rest hahaha Anyway I'll join the bandwagon to say this is one of the best NDP songs from the past decade; the MV and arrangement were both amazingly made. Great job!!
This song really touched my heart. The idea and lyrics and the animation is relatable. The part that touched me the most is 1:31 to 1:41. When our forefathers were in the boat going thru the river. And they see Singapore developed from where they came from. And the nervous look on them at the start to being proud. Exactly how I feel. Well done guys! Seriously kudos!
Oh, what a brilliant creation - the lyrics, the music, the video graphics are so uplifting. Proud of the singers, composers, the graphic creators and everyone else associated with this creation. Thank you - proud to be Singaporean.
I am Malaysian , but i think that this song is really nice , i am driving a schoolbus in Singapore and heard my bus children singing this song .

Well said 👍
Thank you. It's due to the efforts of pioneers like yourself that the foundation is built.
As an aspiring animator I am so impressed at how the animation involved went from just Lineart to coloured animation to a refined paint animatic and then it become more amazing 🤩 I like how so many artists come to put this music video to life I’m hoping to be come one of them someday
I know right? Never came across such a huge success in NDP songs.
Have to give kudos to the person in the organising committee who allowed the artists the chance to do the project their way.... usually so much red tape in government projects!
You can and you will one day. I hope to see your name on the credits on a song all singaporeans sing at National Day in the future. Add oil!
Reminds me of original "One People One Nation One Singapore" MTV in 1990.
All the best! Hope you can achieve what you desire too.
Finally a song after so many years I can relate to and it’s heartwarming and I can just see everyone singing along to it . Well done to the composer!
mrs franco?
Anyone noticed that 1) We were actually seeing the little girl's dream, before she wakes up at 2:29
2) The animation slips back in an in animation once the girl 'meets' Linying outside her dream at the bus stop. It nicely goes with the lyric, "...we did it before, and we'll do it again..."
How brilliant is that!
Woah yeah! Its amazing how much effort they had put into this song, storyline and animation!
Linying is my idol 😂
Ah. Nice! No wonder so many people aren't wearing masks. I would be surprised if we were suddenly allowed to.

A voice that makes you melt from its warmth!
I would say the last decade was pretty cringe except for the 1-2 songs at the start of the 2010s

Although I’m from Hong Kong. When I listened to it for the first time,I was deeply attracted by this lively theme song. And I hope Singapore will be better and better once the pandemic ends.

This heart warming and encouraging song is the best gift to Singaporeans. Together we will pull though and overcome this crisis as a nation.
“Though the road ahead is daunting, but I know we’re gonna be alright….we did it before and we will do it again…”
“We did it before and we will do it again”. This phrase really resonated with me. Majulah Singapura!
We Singapore had been through thick and thin since 1965. We will continue through many centuries here in Earth :) ❤️ Whatever happens, remember how Mr Lee and many other pioneers ministers build Singapore from scratch and nothing to Now.
We had did it before and we will do it again. 💪🏻
Exactly the lyrics I am looking for. Very apt with the times now
I am a foreigner, but I truly feel at home here in Singapore.
Totally agree genuine songs are always better than gimmicky poppy songs esp for NDP
Yeah agreed

Really like this NDP song very much! I think many Singaporeans would be able to relate to the song, young or old. Refreshingly different, meaningful, heartwarming & yet uniquely Singapore without being gimmicky and cheesy like most of the past NDP songs! Probably the best NDP song so far by! But of course, the MV is well produced and contributed to the song!
I'm honestly jealous of Singapore. Fr, all the best, Singapore! From your neighbor, 🇵🇭.

I’m a singaporean but have been living in china for the past 3 years, so i never got attend the National Day parades of the last 2 years (I left in 2018 right after National Day) and I don’t know how the celebration will go/has gone with covid, but honestly this is one of the best ndp songs ever in my humble opinion
With these lyrics, melody and voice, this will definitely an "ageless" song. Another version of "Home" still standing tall!!!... Well done team Singapore!!!!!!!
This song is is warm without strong accent. Like Steve Perry said in the making of We Are the World: "like a conversation"
Anyone noticed the song started from morning (upbeat music) till evening and when Shabir voice came out for the evening segment it became very soft and soothing like a lullaby to enter into the night.
Yep noticed that too. The little things in this vid makes it so damn complete
Gotta be One of the best NdP song ,

This is by far the most original and meaningful lyrics for NDP. There is also a 4 different languages cover version which is a good show case of Singapore multi cultural society.
