Just a note man, Tracey Ullman did come out on CD from Stiff. Yes, it was a UK edition, but here in Soviet Canuckistan, that's what we often got when the US let us down. Great episode though. Keep them coming.
The Benatar mix is also on the DCC AMERICAN GLADIATORS CD mastered by Steve Hoffman. Also it’s probably been mentioned but Irene Cara had a West German target release, John Parr had an 80s pressing for his s/t pressed in West Germany but for the USA (very rare), and I have a Rockwell CD but I believe it’s an import (definitely not a USA pressing). I have the first pressing of Men Without Hats and it’s from Japan and crazy rare on CD.

Yeah, ordered it on your say so and then the man on the Parlogram channel placed it at No.1 in his greatest sounding Beatlles records video a few days later. Mine was in the post at that stage😉👍
Really interesting video! Re: THE CURE... of course the songs on side b of the cassette "Standing On A Beach" originated on their 7-inch and 12-inch singles, and yes, they all did eventually surface digitally on the "Join The Dots" 4-CD compilation. But a much better example is the cassette they put out in 1984 called "Concert & Curiosity". The LP release was simply called "Concert" - this has been issued on CD, and it's a wonderful live document. BUT THE CASSETTE is stunning... the b-side is a batch of live tracks from across their career, some real rare stuff. It includes a song called "Forever" (alternate title: "All I Have To Do Is Kill Her") which was kicking-around in their early live shows for years but they just never got around to recording a good studio version. They ALSO had a special cassette release (to promote their then-current "Wish" album) called "Lost Wishes". Kind of outcasts from the "Wish" album. To this day, it STILL has never had a digital release. They really seemed to dig cassettes....!! Love yr channel!
That 45 version of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" is on a French compilation. And "Nightline" by the Pointer Sisters has been reissued in the UK - a two disc set of "Break Out", one featuring the 1983 version of the record, and one with the 1984 version, both discs with 12" remix versions and 7"single remixes. And the Bette Midler and Joan Rivers are on CD. I have them both.
That was GREAT. Discovered variants on some pop albums I like and was unaware were altered, saw another human being that keeps Pac Man Fever (such a HAPPY time capsule of an album) plus Skull Share and Beatles with more doodoo... thats a jam packed vid!
The Rupert Holmes album "Partners in Crime" (1979) contains "Pina Colada Song (Escape)." His next lp was "Adventure" (1980), [20:28] which contain three singles releases that missed Billboard's Top 40 -- "Morning Man" (#68), "Blackjack" (#103) and "I Don't Need You" (#56).. Holmes has several talents, as multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer/arranger, scoring Broadway musicals, and as a novelist.
I'm assuming, then, that you know the fun fact that "Escape" was the first song to reach #1 in two different decades. I just find it ridiculous that someone apparently asked for that song by title and someone else got the wrong album with the track list clearly on it (even a hype sticker) and taped a note saying "it might be on here".
@@RobertFithen Some people simply fail to read. Maybe that's why the original owner got rid of the thing. Course, Partners and Adventure overlapped in the retail stores at the time.

Weirdest of all, Ohio Players did QUAD 4 channel MIXES only on their 8tracks - never on vinyl

I much prefer the 3 dimensional sound of a good LP on a decent turntable and cartridge than the flat sound of 16 bit CD! Yeah, CDs are clean and loud, but the sound doesn't draw you in like LPs do! Saying that, I do still buy CDs occasionally! All this is just my opinion, my way! Some others may think differently, and that's cool! Nothing wrong with personal opinions!

Have you ever done a video on misprints and bloopers on albums? I'm sure you probably have and I probably just haven't seen that video yet? I was thinking of this the other day. It's on the super popular (hardly known about) Journey album Dream After Dream. I can't remember if it was 1980 or 1981 they did this release for a Japanese movie. But on the cassette tapes, all were imports back then, they had a song titled The Rafe. But then on the half speed master LP it was titled The Rape. Looking up rafe, which we couldn't really do as easily back then, shows to be a Scandinavian origin word meaning council of the wolf. That kind of sounds like it could be used by the Japanese in the movie. Of course I don't have to explain the other meaning of the other word. I always wondered which one was the correct spelling. I'm guessing it was the second word, rape, since that's the way it's spelled when it finally came out on import CDs somewhere in the '90s. And if I remember right, they actually even changed it on the cassette tape that I also got (another copy) a little laterin the '80s. I can't remember for sure but I've got it spelled both ways I believe on cassettes. Like I said, you've probably already done a video on topics like this. But just in case, I thought I'd mention it as an idea... I'm still enjoying going through a lot of your past videos. Some of them really crack me up too 👍 Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
@@RobertFithen As a kid in the early 80s I collected "Everything" from records to cassettes. I've seen some different mixes of songs that were on tape that was different from the vinyl, and vise versa. I definately liked the 5:14 version of Hungy Like The Wolf (a.k.a The Night Version, that was also included on Duran Duran EP vinyl titled "Carnival"). I believe "Hold Back The Rain" also had different mixes too from the U.K. and U.S. releases. I liked cassette versions of albums that had extra tracks that weren't on the original vinyl. For example A Flock Of Seagulls "Listen" cassette had 4 extra tracks that can be found on A Flock Of Seagulls 12 inch single B sides from the Listen album.
I have the Rockwell on 7”. I’m not familiar with more than half of these. I wasn’t hip to 80’s pop. Is it true there is an X rated version of this video.
Now that you mention it, I guess it is kind of pointless to show a bunch of albums at the beginning of a video saying "here's the kind of bands I'm NOT talking about". That's probably while it ended up being half hour long.
I have the Cher Heart of stone skull cover on CD European though so theirs that . And I can confirm you can't beat Cher, well maybe not mention Cher does ABBA. I think I'm going mad is on the misleadingly named rarities although if like me you love generic 80's 12" mixes. That's covered. Update I Apparently lied it's not on rarities.
I gave up vinyl on the day CDs were invented. I gave away more than you have. Once you play one even once it's never the same. Vinyl was better than AM radio, but that's not saying much.
@@RobertFithen Well, I don't. Just consider it a figure of speech. It's alright if you have them, but I gave them up. Yes, I noticed that everything was "remastered" for CDs, and many times not in a good way. But the physical properties of the vinyl are such that it is destroyed by the very act of playing it. Good turntables used to cost thousands. We had to set our turntable up in a different room completely and run it to the amps in our living room because of the volume and vibration. I could go on and on. I'm not disrespecting you for having them, I just will NEVER have vinyl, see vinyl, or desire vinyl in any way.

Shopping A to Z probably would have caught on if it had been items found in a mall and not grocery store
Great point. How did they miss that?
nice
😀😀😁😁👌👌🎶Brilliant!
I have the Rockwell on 7”. I’m not familiar with more than half of these. I wasn’t hip to 80’s pop. Is it true there is an X rated version of this video.
I do that quick barrage of obscure ones at the beginning, but I thought the rest were fairly well-known. Yes, but it's only available in Europe.
@@RobertFithen I didn’t know any of the first barrage of records.
I'm curious, how do you know how much I have?
🤤🤤🤤
Deja vu
All over again
@@RobertFithen I never complain about doing it again, but why? :)
Lol this is awesome

You need to hire someone to help you with your wardrobe.
