@HealthyFarmLiving In Durban the moringa tree is called 'drumstick tree ' and that is because of the pods ! Recipe : Pea dhall with drumsticks 1 cup of yellow split peas 1 onion 1 medium tomato 2 green chillies 1 sprig of curry leaf ( if available) 2 cloves garlic I dry red Chilli 🌶 2-3 Tbs oil 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/4 tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste 3- 5 drumsticks (young ,green - seeds not mature - not stringy when cut into pieces ) METHOD: In a large pot .Wash the split peas several times till the water runs clear. Add 3 litres of water to peas and bring to the boil. Add in the chopped tomato, 1/2 sliced onion ,two slit green chilies, turmeric, and curry leaves. Allow to cook on medium heat till peas are mushy . This should look like a soupy mix. Gently scrape the drumsticks , wash and chop into about 4- 5 cm lengths . Add this into the pot and allow to cook. When soft to the touch , remove from the heat and set aside . In a small fry pan or skillet ,heat the oil. Add the sliced onions and garlic till light brown and fragrant. Add in the cumin and mustard seeds . Just as they begin to splutter ,pour the whole thing over the cooked dhall and give a good stir. Garnish with chopped coriander and your dhall is ready to serve.
I saw in your video how you processed the leaves into powder, 😍 but I didn't see that the leaves were washed! 😮 I want to order some of your beautiful green morninga, but I have to know what I asked you above. Please let me know. Thank you.
Hey there! No, we don't wash the leaves at all, but we don't actually sell the powder. That would require licensing and a different kind of kitchen for us to offer this to the public as a finished product. That being said, I don't know if you're in or around the Phoenix area, but we may have fresh leaves available in the future if you're not able to grow the trees at home.
I am excited to start growing moringa. The onions I got from you are doing well. They are in a pot in the greenhouse waiting to be planted. I'm planning on starting the moringa in the greenhouse in January. I'm zone 8b so I think I can plant them as soon as the frost danger is over. My 80 yr old mother likes to eat a couple of leaves every day during the growing season. Thanks for all the information you give. You are so awesome 😎
Woohoo, glad to hear those onions are doing well for you! With the shorter growing season you have there, your best bet would be that greenhouse. They're not really happy until it's over 90 degrees!
What is moringa good for? Can I throw a handful of leaves into an omlette? I have a large tree growing in my yard but dont know what to do with it. Happy New year 🎆🙏🏽
It's an excellent green that can also be used raw or cooked. They have a strong green flavor, so I would start with a small amount and see what your palate thinks.
We use the larger pieces of leaves and stems that do not completely powder down in our coffee. I mix it right in with the coffee container so we get something nutritional with our coffee. Waste not, want not. 🙂

Does it taste as healthy as it looks? Or can you hide it successfully in a smoothie?
It does have that typical "green" flavor to it, but it hides really well in the smoothie we make in the mornings.
I pair moringa together with apple in a smoothie. They seem to taste well together.

a tablespoon at a time? Please let me know. Please and thanks.😊

Can use as parsley flacks to add to any dish.
