I noticed this as well and thought it was quite cool. When I watched the semi final on TV I thought this was going to be similar to what Saara Alto did in her performance, but when I saw the final live in the arena and the whole toilet paper stage thing rotated as Rosa Lynn was getting ready to tear the last piece was super cool
As an American, I agree that France's placement was a crime. Fulenn was one of, like, three songs I found out about before this video because it was that good. The other two were Subwoolfer's song and the one about eating veggies and 😺.
That's probably because it's mixing the folk with modern music styles like Ukraine did last year. Usually, if people find similarities with an entry from the previous year, they tend not to vote for it. For instance, there was nothing wrong with Germany's entry back in 2013, but it was deemed too similar to Sweden's Euphoria from 2012. The public and the juries ignored it. :(
It was musically uninteresting. I'm French btw and overjoyed to have some of our local languages represented, but the climax of the music track had about the intensity the first chorus should have had, and the singing was flat. Per a friend, the national final version is better, maybe you could check it out!
Simply the best Eurovision 2022 summary video, because you focused mostly on the positive aspects, without criticising it for every little mistake they made. Well done!
To be honest... a summary about Eurovision is usually not without the flaws it had that year, whether you like it or not... this year had alot of them and in my opinion one of the worst I have witnessed in the 25 years that I can remember I watched it.
Tbh I'm glad that Portugal got the top 10 in the final (plus top 5 in the juries despite not getting 12 points from any country). It's very Portuguese yet other people outside Portugal including myself still can relate to the song. We stan Maro and her power of friendship.
The French song is sung in Breton, which is a Celtic language spoken in a region of France, the Bretagne. The lyrics are inspired by a folklorian tale of a woman who goes out to dance, which she is not allowed to, and who falls in the hands of the devil because of it. But the singers flipped that meassage on its head and made it about women's emancipation.
France was my no. 2 this year, their placement really was emotional damage for me :/ Also as a fellow German: I'm disappointed in the UK. It's supposed to be us at the bottom! You left us hanging there! Let's see in the following years if we get another bottom 5-buddy

I think Frances song was awesome but the staging was exactly the same as the one they had when they won the national final, just a little worse.
