Miyata vs Randy was PEAK GUYS
For sure one of the best fights in the manga
I'm not ashamed to admit there were no onions being cut when I read this fight, just pure manly tears

I also think it would be awesome to see Randy Boy Jr come back as an opponent for Ippo once he returns to the world stage. Narratively, I think there is a lot of potential there. It builds the Miyata fight more.

I remember when I first read this I was SO MAD that Miyata had decided to not fight Ippo, thus prolonging the manga like 20 more years. Nevertheless, in hindsight I think that the Randy Boy fight was not only PEAK, it further resolved Miyata's arc prior to his fated match with Ippo (which I think will be the last fight of the manga in like 2034).
I really hope George trains his assistants more, that way he could do less drawing and more writing, thus getting more manga out per release. I think Morikawa has turned into a fantastic artist and do not really want to see that less, but since the passing of Berserk's author, I have been scared of the same fate coming to us. I think that relying more on young talent for the manga's last leg could remedy this and even if the worst came to be, at least there could be a prewritten structure to follow to finish it.

I hope your planing in the future to do an analysis of Ippo vs. Alfredo fights, it's my fav fight and imo Ippo's important fights because it's expose him how limited he was as a boxer and have a strategy that Alfredo says his boxing is from the stone age and outdated and lead his downfall since Miguel predicted after the Wally fight.

Thank you my friend. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. There is so much that needs to happen for the story to finish properly. Each major fight will take at least a year respectively. Takamura has three belts left. That’s three years already, if we assume there won’t be time skips. And Morikawa isn’t a guy who likes time skips.

I think they’re saving miyata vs ippo for the last chapter after ippo faces Ricardo or that fight can happen before Ricardo for last chapter
Maybe a few more fights , after Ricardo when ippo does fight , miyata will definitely have another fight , so will takamura, and the story with ippo and kumi and also her brother is Def tied in with the plot.

It’s a very tough one. Especially because Ippo vs. Miyata was the first “fight” in the manga. People have been waiting for that for decades now. I don’t know what would be more rewarding. I’d love a basement sparring session, but a final fight would also be good.

Randy Boy Jr was extremely close to beating Miyata. Suprising the ref didnt stop the fight earlier when Miyata was getting mauled and ragdolled. Randy was an interesting character. If we ever get Ippo vs Miyata it would likley be for the WBC world title at Featherweight which McCallum vacated since Miyata said he would avoid Ricardo for the WBA.
Yes he was close, but Miyata was also extremely close multiple times. I think Randy was almost K.O. on his feet. Miyata was just too gone too engage. He could have finished this by points easily. But he wanted to go into the action with the counter. So he created the hard situation where Randy almost won by himself.
In reality, Randy was never close.
@@KingKoohii I remember Miyata rolling on the floor and crawling up to his stool. Referee couldve ended the fight with a TKO. Randy was close to knocking Miyata out. In terms of points well Miyata was outboxing Randy with his speed and jab. Its crazy Randy broke Miyata's ribs yet Miyata was still able to move so quickly. Miyata's new form counter came in clutch to save himself from Randy's own punch.

It was stated that he could have won by points during the fight. The fact that Randy managed to stay on his feet after the Jolt is even more shocking. How is that possible? It suprises me more how Miyata is even able to move so fast while his ribs are broken and still lock in as if hes not even in pain. I guess Randy ate and Miyata ate? I like the idea of Miyata's corkscrew jolt counter giving him a slight edge. I wonder if later on Miyata will fight McCallum or a new recently crowned WBC Champion for the belt
@@Intenxsify he was pretty much crippled at the end. The right he set up did the job. He had to lure Randy in to really reach him. But still a close fight. If the ref really wanted to be assertive, he could have ended it. But that’s exactly how Takamura vs. Eagle continued. Eagle even pushed the ref to continue.
I would love to see Miyata vs. McCallum. That would assert Miyata’s legacy and skill set even more. I think he’s never fought a guy that technical before. But for that fight, one of them would need to go up or down in weight.

my opinion might be quite weird, but honestly, in my opinion this might have been one of the WORST fights of the series. There was so much hype around RBJ and that he would destroy miyata and other outboxers. But when the fight actually started miyata was literally destroying RBJ, and with ease aswell. Only halfway in the fight did RBJ somehow fight miyata, BARELY, Sawamura and sendo were still glazing the hell outta RBJ for some reason tho, even tho RBJ was ass and could barely hold his ground against miyata. It was also stated that miyata couldnt use counters but he was literally using them throughout the whole match lol. RBJ's biggest hype point was that he can switch hit, but even that was thrown away, he only used it a few times in the whole fight when he should have been using it all the time, i dont understand how they hyped this character so much just for him to be a wuss.
I’d agree RBJ was destroyed. There wasn’t a single chance for him to win the fight. But it wasn’t THAT one sided. He was a threat at one point in the fight. And the ref was very close to stopping it. Obviously, it was also extremely strange how he managed to stay on his feet after eating the Jolt. Very odd.
He was still an amazing fighter. Dangerous and tough. And having switch hitting abilities doesn’t give you some secret weapon like a Genkidama in Dragonball. It just means you’ll have to figure out more and strategize better. It’s also a little obstacle for us readers. It makes us worry and engage more with the fight.
Also: The perspective of Sawamura and Sendo didn’t take into account that Ichirō was sparring two opponents at once to prepare for Randy’s switch hitting.

Styles make fights. Randy's style usually counters Miyata's style. Ippo could close the gap better on Randy than he could on Miyata. So theoretically Ippo could have an easier time beating Randy than Miyata

I like his character. He’s very straightforward with what he wants. He has his father as a hero, just like Miyata. It was a nasty move to confront Miyata like that, but it got his attention. Otherwise he wouldn’t have agreed to the unification fight.
