The plaintain is the clear winner here - easy sew, great design, good size range. I even had it adapted to a cardigan and it worked! Then adapted to a sweater and it worked!

How amazingly useful. Brilliant video. And "Snap!" -- we've been doing some of the same things. I visited the Girl Charlee stand at the Knitting and Stitching show and met all their fabrics face to face ... my quest is for a really sturdy, mostly cotton t-shirt material and a lot of their are lighter and drapier with gorgeous stretch AND recovery. Sturdiest is their cotton spandex base.
Even though they aren't quite what I was looking for, I've ordered a lot of half meters from them and been sewing up a storm with Plantain and Burda 6990.

Love the fact that Itch to Stitch won the first round I love their patterns. This was great fun I am off to get the Mandy now :)
Love Girl Charlee. One of the few, maybe even the only, online fabric store I feel 100% confident in buying from. Like you said, they list the content and % of stretch and the weight and the size of the print or repeat. You really know exactly what you're getting before you put it in your cart. I love sewing with knits (I sew what I wear and I am a comfy homebody, so knits are my best friend) and have yet to be disappointed in a purchase from them. Plus they always have sales (at least in the US, I don't know about the UK branch)...For the tops, Plantain is my fave. I've sewn up 4 or 5 (two of which were hacked into tank tops). So easy to whip up and great basic.

Hi girls, great video again 😁. Love the Lago tank and the dutch fabric so I think that one was the winner for me. I have made a top with the cabloom fabric which I love wearing, even though I'm not really a flowery girl and I may try the plantain tee as well. Funnily enough I have the fabric that the wonderlust is made of but haven't used it yet, so may try the wonderlust with it. I have to say that I love the hemlock and I think that is because I am quite short, being five foot three and I love the band at the bottom with the stripes going in the opposite direction. I will try this one for sure. The Mandy tee is good too and I love the magenta striped jersey so may have to splurge on that now that I have seen it made up and looking so nice. Living down south it's great to see garments made up in the fabric's as it helps decide on what to use it for, so a very useful video for me😁. Thanks very much girls and keep up the good work 😘
I've made several versions of the Plantain and I love it! I would definitely vote for that one for round 2. I agree with your call on round 3 as well. I think the Mandy has a more flattering neckline and sleeve shape, and you could always adjust the length. This was a fun video; thanks for the reviews and comparison!
This is such a fun, and informative video. Thank you for putting it together...I really feel I need to try more of these patterns. I love the Hemlock for yoga and stuff, but haven´t tried the others. Plus I now feel the need to look more closely at Girl Charlee fabrics. Suzy

fabulous blog, as usual. I really liked your Grainline version, it looked fabulous.Thank you. I did just want to mention my experience of Creative Bug, in that I canceled my subscription and stopped my direct debit, but they continued to take the monthly payment. The bank said some companies are naughty and do this. I ended up having to cancel my card, and order a different one. Don't want to be a party pooper, as the patterns looked fabulous, i just thought it was worth sharing my experience. sorry.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the different free patterns made up - I think my VERY favourite was the Plantain and I have seen several of these made up and have liked them all. There is another free pattern on Creativ Bug that I LOVE and have made several times -- The Endless Summer Tunic. You must try that one out :)
Loving this vid! Do you think you could do a tutorial on how to add a different neckline to a free top pattern? I’d like to do the plantain but with a slash neck.

Thanks for this really helpful video... I'm inspired to make the plaintain... I alway have to shorten patterns and I wondered if you chop off at the hem or use the shortening lines? The fit is just perfect on you and I want mine the same... I thought of the same question regarding the Oslo cardi...Thank you too for the cardi challenge it was great!🙂
Hi Ladies! Great Video! I have most of these free patterns and have made a couple of the hemlock tee's but with a very fine knit used for head scarves. Will have to tag you on Instagram so you can see them. I am a size 8 so it came up quite large on me. I reduced the front and back width by 1" so 2" in total, reduced the sleeve length by 1", increased the neck band length by 2" and I took the sleeves in by 1" at the wrists and tapered up to the armpits - phew! So quite a lot of adjustment but it is a very straightforward pattern to follow. Going to try the Lago Vest Top next! xx

I have made the Mandy Boat Tee today. Quite impressed that I made something I could actually wear - often it ends up in the scrap bag! I'm a size UK 16 and I thought it was huge on me and very long (I'm 5'10") I will definitely make some more, but might hack the pattern a bit. Love the fabric you have for this one ..... might have to get some too!
