Oh nice progress, I started just a few days back my journey too. I never played on anything, but after a couple years watching videos on youtube, I bought my own piano and started learning.

Nice to see another adult beguinner. I had a keyboard to practice singing, and played the bassoon in a amateur orchestra, but from february 2020 until September 2021 in my country, every amateur practice was cancelled due to lockdowns and limitations. So what to do ?
yep, I started learning piano at home, with apps and very old practice books. After 2 year with " gaps" due to schedule, I decided to go further.
On 21st of april, I started a notebook, every day I write here how long I practiced, what I've focused on, and in general, any music related stuff: video that I watch, tutorials, music theory, music listened, dancing lessons, and so on...
It worked magic, not only I practice now almost everyday, and longer ( between 30 minutes and 1h30), but I can also see the real progress, and keep an eye on my listenings, and try to listen to more various genre than I did previously. I try to listen everyday to at least one track or disc that I've never listened to before, and one track or disc that I already know, with the idea of really paying attention to the details.
And also started taking real lessons since September.
I will see in April what will the real progress, but it already skrocketed quickly.
I don't work right now, so I use this free time to learn as much as possible, when I'll find a new job, it will be more complicated to play as much as I want.
Next step will be changing my old keyboard, and find a real piano with the pedals.
Keep up the spirit, it's already a pretty cool result 👍

Thanks for sharing your experience! I think being consistent is the key. I work as a teacher full time and yes, as you say, it's difficult to play as much as I want, but I'm very proud that I managed to play just a little bit every day!

you are a fast learner. once you have a music background, it's quite easy to catch up i guess. The harmonic, appergios, scale & key. I'm a guitarist before about 15years. Now is my 4th month learning piano by myself also. Love to watch others journey. Inspired me. Piano is about to keep focus on both hand and melody until the end of the song.. It's hard.. !! 😂 Wish me luck in my piano journey & i will make my 1 year journey too after this

I have always wanted to learn piano. Never went far with it. Played in a rock band in my 20s. Now at 54, I am buying a Yamaha P145 next weekend because I have prior commitments, so I have to wait. But I am ready to start this journey. Not looking for being a professional. Just want to be able to play and 99% Christian songs. Already found a site for that. They black keys are a huge help knowing where a-g is. But we'll see where this goes.

Thats so great. I told myself id practice everyday for 10-15 mins atleast. That didnt quite happen. How many times a month do you use a teacher? Like u, i also play instruments a little but never had a training. I cant read sheet music.

If you want to learn it seriously, I recommend practising reading sheet music from the beginning. I neglected it for a long time and I still find it very difficult now. Start with some very easy pieces (there are a lot of free beginner notes on musescore for example) or check out "Improve your sightreading grade 1" by Paul Harris, that's what I'm currently practising with.
