He isn't the asshole that look at him as a disposable pawn and put him on a fight he couldn't win, just to try to make a point.

The whole movie was filled with hypocrisy on all sides. The humans wanted the protection Hellboy offered, then they turned on him because they didn't like the way he performed (I can't blame that mother, though, her kid probably had burst eardrums at the least) or the fact that he wasn't human. Nuada was perfectly fine with using magic creatures as cannon fodder in his campaign against humans for their crimes against magic creatures... No one got to be the hero in this one. Which kinda fits the whole Hellboy theme. Great movie.
Glad I wasn't the only one who felt that way; he set the creature on the humans, knowing killing it was the only way to stop it, and then throw shade because it gets killed?
That really was the moment I wanted to see the Prince beat down.
A trilogy that should have been finished properly instead of rebooted

This was my favorite monster in the entire movie and was a little sad we didn't get to see more of it

The death of the forest God was always depressing for me. I remember my first time watching this and hoping that Hell boy could come to a compromise with this creature being that he was the last of his kind. Even more depressing when you see it's blood transforming the city. You get a pretty good idea of just how beautiful this creature could make the world and how it probably looked before the humans took over.
I allways liked how how prince Nuada was played. Most “villains” when they learn of a minions death they don’t really get emotional. But when wink died you can clearly see the Prince take the loss hard, that was in friend after all. The prince wasn’t evil, very much far from it. In another age another story he would have been the hero. Hell hes seen mankind’s rise. And how in a very very very relatively short time we have nearly fucked this planet into a coma, he wants to stop it. If that means blood must be shed so be it
Sometimes you need to take a look at the villans eyes
Since they think What they do is right
Del Toro is a master in creating monsters and creatures even they have less screentime they are remarkable and unforgettable

I always felt bad for both the creatures and hell boy as they are pitted against each other against their will the Creature fighting cause its afraid and in a different environment and Hell boy as he is forced to be the Executioner of this species and feeling the weight of his actions.
This movies were and still are masterpieces!!

Del Toro is amazing. When I saw this in theaters, people actually cried when Hellboy had to kill the Elemental. Which shows how amazing Del Toro's vision is. I think the Hellboy movies show that just because a movie is based off something doesnt mean it'll be good. The recent movie was such a disapointment and the Del Toro movies were so good and even beautiful in some parts.

If we are to continue on the theme of "Forest Gods" I suggest taking a look on the Forest Spirit, also called Shishigami (シシガミ) and Night-Walker (デイダラボッチ, Deidarabotchi) from Studio Ghibli's "Princess Mononoke". I do believe the entire movie is worth a video at least :-)

Princess Mononoke. Such a beautiful movie.
Fun fact: When I was at college and we had a lecture about Japanese culture and religion we had to watch Princess Mononoke as a homework. That was a homework I truly enjoyed.

While I wasn't a fan of this movie, (I didn't hate it. It just didn't click with me) I always thought thks dude looked really cool. Hellboy II was in theatres when I was 12 and had yet to start developing some semblance of intelligence. I haven't seen it since.
Edit: I might watch it again today if I can find the money.

I always figured that when it died it released more of its king from the flower. And that might be minor plot point in the 3rd hellboy. How does the human world react to the supernatural world coming out from the shadows.
