Giving a robot emotions related to its mission is actually really clever. Sure, without emotions you have an efficient killing machine, but with emotions you have a drive for the machine to not just do its mission by the book, but motivation to *go beyond* the baseline.
Creating models without emotions means that they can end up learning things that they shouldn't, not because they share ideals or sensitivity, simply because they "learned it", as a text model, without emotions that lead ,it wont have to have a preference or loyalty to anyone, if you create a terminator terminator you need Assuring you that it will remain on your side precisely to eliminate the units that are no longer, makes all the sense in the world and is even an intelligent use of the real nature of emotions as dogmatic impulses to direct a thinking mind,so yeah, really clever to give T-X a range of emotions

I think the TX was actually great evolution by skynet. It was essentially a better T1000; It had multiple fatal onboard weapons, was smarter, faster and stronger. It could also control other machines. If it could've split itself in half like Rev9 did, it would've been literally unstoppable.
I think the TX may be able to control other Terminator models but probably not the T-1000 since it lacks a CPU and is composed entirely of liquid metal. The T-1000 also seems to have a mind and will of its own and is capable of thinking outside the box. It's kind of funny how each Terminator Skynet sends back ends up getting destroyed by humans and their Terminator allies so they can definitely be outsmarted, if not overpowered.
@@dkamphaus43 Not really. It depends what is considered to be an improvement. The T1000 only advantage is shape shifting. Everything else compare to the TX is weaker due being vulnerable to extreme heat, cold, trauma and acid. The TX has the same liquid metal as an outer layer recover from any outer damage, but the robust inner frame to take on more brute force damage. Aka explosive, heat, cold, etc. X also possess futuristic weoponary aka laser, plastic, etc. Not even a fair comparison.
I think the Gun makes sense, this way it can take out its victims far more subtly than with a plasma cannon for example. At least it made sense to me, it probably thought a pistol would be more efficient and it wouldn't draw too much attention to itself.
Plus it probably doesn’t have an infinite power source. And it’s plasma gun is primarily for taking out other terminators. Makes sense to use other means to conserve energy. It goes straight for the plasma when it meets the T-800 so
@@princeytron Nah the series is kinda shit after T1. I think the reason (lore-wise) that the T-X would seek out weapons when it had its own built-in arsenal was for power-saving, vulnerability's sake and infiltration directives. It's less likely to change the timeline if witnesses see someone shooting period-appropriate weaponry, as well as be less likely to cause a stir in general. Using internal weaponry usually required the T-X to fold back its protective liquid alloy, so it does make it more vulnerable in some ways when it uses those weapons. And of course, any type of energy weapon uses a lot of power, so hold those things in reserve to preserve it's overall power storage makes sense too.

Regarding the emotions, and something I wish they'd done for the movie, was in the book version (which the movie is actually loosely based on), the TX unit was actually a human that had basically been upgraded and had an AI chip/neural lace installed in their brain. There was actually an entire series of them, that skynet effectively raised and trained.

No solid target.. no real hits.. - Scary..
I think T3 is the last one to ever gave me the vibes of despair and hopelessness while watching. I could argue that the original music from T1 is among the factors. They should've used it for the entire franchise..creepy asf.!
The more I look at the T-X as a whole, the more I think it's basically a female model version of Mega Man with the whole idea of having multiple weapons in one arm cannon. T-X model is my favorite out of the terminators because of how cool the terminator mode is designed.
I overall liked the endoskeleton + liquid metal design of it, it seems like the next logical step, but I thought the built in weapons were kind of over the top. (from a movie standpoint).
I feel like the T-X was a mix of three concepts that all together really didn't work too well even before taking in it's portrayal in the movie. 1) Give a Endoskeleton a liquid metal sheath. While much could be said about how the concept takes the best of both to cover each other's flaws, the big advantage here is that the liquid metal sheath means that it can retain its ability to blend in even after it has taken cosmetic damage and it can switch disguises on the fly. This makes the resulting terminator an extremely effective infiltrator. However, this does nothing for it's role as an Anti-Terminator Terminator. The liquid metal sheath doesn't help disguises it from the sensors of reprogrammed terminators, nor does it actually provide it with more much significant armor against weapon's fire, especially supersonic ammo or plasma weapons. The former is known to pass completely through the body of the T-1000 and the latter is shown in the comics to be one of the few weapon types that are effective at actually killing a T-1000. 2) Female Terminator: giving us a female terminator seemed like a no brainier. Sex sells after all and the fan service practically writes itself between the typical nude arrival and wardrobe damage. Making the next terminator a female also means that if it's rocking the classic endoskeleton, retaining the same level of physical capabilities means that its sporting more powerful motors and actuators. so there's a clear progression. Unfortunately this also lead to things like tasting blood for DNA profiling cause ... that's someone's fetish? and the raw size difference between the T-X and Arnold meant that it would look like the weaker unit and thus the underdog. The actress portraying the T-X would thus really need to sell the role which, unfortunately, Loken didn't. Loken didn't really have much presence at all. The it also meant that even before the poor effects and questionable gimmicks were factored in the T-X physically dominating the larger older model was going to be more difficult to sell as it would look odd. 3) Anti-Terminator Terminator: A terminator designed specifically to wreck other terminators makes a certain amount of sense if the Resistance was having greater and greater luck capturing and reprogramming older units, but at the same time, you have to wonder just how many terminators the Resistance was was reprogramming to make such a design actually needed. I mean seriously.
It seems like the logical progression in technology would be T-800 where there is only an endoskeleton, then T-X where the liquid metal tech is still being developed and at this point still requires an endoskeleton as a base, then T-1000 where tech has progressed to the point where no base endoskeleton is required. Just my two cents.
7:04 I can explain why she only used a handgun at first. If she went around blasting her targets with a Plasma cannon that emits a giant Orange blast of plasma that might draw more attention to her then say capping someone with a .45 ACP Smith & Wesson 4506-1 handgun. It also would look like the work of a random psycho, not a killing machine from the future.
@@MMBN4bluemoon In more ways than one. Just think of all the careers that movie world kill; the actors, the director, the producers... Even the craft services guys!

Having a traditional cyborg with liquid metal over it seems more like a step backwards from the T-1000.
Nah I don’t think so having that hard endoskeleton was a disadvantage for me - more fluid state has alot more benefits
@@dkamphaus43 Not really. It depends what is considered to be an improvement.
The T1000 only advantage is shape shifting. Everything else compare to the TX is weaker due being vulnerable to extreme heat, cold, trauma and acid. In short while the liquid metal can help the T1000 recover virtually almost from any damage, the damn thing itself isn't exactly robust. Breaks easy.
It was shown in the video that the TX was basically indestructible to conventional weapons and possess the strength to rip off car doors and throw another terminator through walls. It could easily brute force kill people with strength alone.

Great video as always. Love the Terminator series since I was a kid. When you said why the TX took the gun, it would need to kill and stay low profile. A gun used would look like a murder or serial killer to present day cops. Keep the signature low in case another resistance fighter comes back and sees weird reports of a person using a cyborg arm shooting plasma blasts on kids. Then of course it's other objective is to ensure Skynet lives, so it doesn't want to alert the military.
I’m not gonna lie I really the TX combining the ideas of T-800 and 1000 make for rally cool action scenes and I like that Skynet is prepared for when a unit gets reprogrammed

It was actually to disarm the police officer. Nobody thought of that ?

I find it hilarious that skynet never really used human emotion as a weapon. I mean it did a couple times later when it leaves the t-800 to screw with John Connor but what it could have done was use the TX to fall in "love" with John Connor and when he's vulnerable in a very intimate moment snap his neck. Some super computer

“Extreme elation”
The "extreme elation" that usually comes around during consensual internal organ rearrangement 😂 Skynet must have downloaded too much of the internet
No she isnt, that was Serena Burns a completely different model
The primary weapon of the TX was a plasma rifle in the 40 watt range
I believe that she used a gun as her internal weapons took time to fire
Her onboard weapons also make it pretty obvious that she isn't human
I think the T-X as a concept had a lot of potential, but was sadly squandered in a lackluster movie.
The movie was absolutely stunning. It’s your Brain that is squandered and I don’t say that as an insult… It’s just the truth. As we age we believe it’s everything else around us getting worse.
It’s not… It’s us. Pull yourself together in body and mind and then watch it again when you feel fantastic. It’s better than t1 and t2.
@@mackcarlomost Terminator fans would agree that T2 was probably the best of the Terminator movies. Personally, I didn't think Kristanna Loken was anywhere nearly impressive as Robert Patrick as the T-1000.

Please do an overview of the TV show "Legion". I'm absolutely fascinated by the Marvel character and would love to hear your take on him.
"It's thighs could crush with the force of an industrial hydraulic press"
The more I look at the T-X as a whole, the more I think it's basically a female model version of Mega Man with the whole idea of having multiple weapons in one arm cannon.
T-X model is my favorite out of the terminators because of how cool the terminator mode is designed.
I overall liked the endoskeleton + liquid metal design of it, it seems like the next logical step, but I thought the built in weapons were kind of over the top. (from a movie standpoint).
When sky net adds another letter to their terminator line names.
It’s time to run they’ve grown to smart
The T-X is so intelligent it throws Brewster instead of just killing her immediately.
Has he done a video on Halo? Like one on the Master Chief or the UNSC.

TX seemed the most practical model for eliminating humans or other terminators IMO.
t-1000 still seems like the most dangerous so far
Nah the T-X is more dangerous and not to mention can kill the T-100 easy
Controls other machines, multiple super-powered on-board weapons and is resistant to heat/cold that would kill a T1000. If the t1000 is an 8, then the TX is a 9.5.
