      Thanks for the kind words!!! I don't get too precious about the ways and means of getting out in our beautiful country as long as we get out!! Always fancied the idea of traversing some of these lochs with the bikes (pack rafting I believe) maybe one day!!! ATB

    Great adventure and Kinglass is on my Bucket List. I think I would approach from Taynuilt and then after the traverse from Glen Kinglass I’d head down to Tyndrum. I thought your footage of the route after Glen Kinglass lodge was excellent and gives me a bit more confidence in choosing that way. (Not a fan of excessive hike-a-biking!). Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed the video.

      Graham - I think your idea of a route sounds better than ours... I mean we loved it but I don't think I'd do it again!! - Glenkinglass is a must do... we managed to cycle it all on fat bikes - what are you riding? gravel bike?

      @@hikebikescotland9121 I ride a hard tail MTB (Trek 3700 with upgraded components). I’m happy to do a bit of pushing but try to put routes together where the riding is a bit easier. We’ve 2 trips planned so far this year (Cairngorm Loop and a ride up the NCN route 1 from Alnwick to Carnoustie.). I’m also hoping to do the Outer Hebrides this year over a couple of weeks which would include taking in a few hills on the islands as well.

      Think you'll be fine on a MTB to be honest and any hike-a-bike will be limited to a few meters at a time if any... - Sounds like you have a great year lined up!!! - both the Cairngorms loop and Hebridean Way are on our to-do lists but I never seem to get the appropriate time off work!

    Excellent video but a wee fyi when it comes to Bothies to keep them from being trashed it's better to not mention where they are or their names 🙂 it's kinda if you know you know.

    • @hikebikescotland9121
      @hikebikescotland9121  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well MBA bothies are public information (on the website) although this isn't one of theirs, but is on OS maps so I'm guessing not too secret!! But I take your point.

    How do you find fat bikes for bike packing ? Any real drawbacks or advantages

    • @hikebikescotland9121
      @hikebikescotland9121  ปีที่แล้ว

      P Three - we love them but not everyone agrees!! They are heavier and slower than just about any of the alternatives but they can soak up terrain where other bikes will struggle... we're not looking to bash out 70 mile days (not fit enough!!) and if we did we'd end up covering all Scotlands bike backing trails within a couple of years - lets be honest it is a finite thing... So the fat bikes suit us, they slow us down and increase the available options (like snow if you've seen some of our other videos). Road sections are the worst - any more than a mile or two and it gets tiresome so I try to minimise them as much as possible but sometimes needs must... - There really is no right and wrong and I started with my road bike a few years on frankly terrain I had no business being on. Strengths and weaknesses all round, just go with the type of bike that suits your riding and route style.. but do go!!! - ATB

      Haha actually the first time... But when the missus was like who's Steve.. and then furious typing and then followed by a snigger - I think that says it all 🤣🤣🤣
