There needs to be a G5 FOOTBALL ONLY Conference of 8 or 9 teams. All those teams could get into a Conference without Football which is the best fit for them in Basketball and everything else. Something Regional. But a NATIONAL and STRONG G5 FOOTBALL-only Conference of Top Level G5s would be a Playoff Contender EVERY YEAR. Something like Army, Navy, Air Force. San Diego St, Tulane, South Florida, East Carolina, Boise St and somebody in Texas (who idk - North Texas? UTSA?)
I didn't think my USF Bulls would be in a conference with West Point in football again. The planned American football schedules need to be revised in a hurry. Also, I expect West Point's football deal with the CBS Entertainment Group to be grandfathered into The American's media deal like Navy's was in the 2010s.

Agreed. VCU and CofC probably the best options as most AAC schools are still large public institutions bar Tulane after SMU's departure. I have to say though that I don't think the American basketball is a step up from the A-10.
@kyleorndorff1304 how is it not? Fau is coming off a final four, Memphis is a perennial tournament team and huge brand, witchita is a good program, unt and uab both coming off 25+ win seasons
@@willsportz I think whole FAU thing will be over quick. Wichita has not been great recently. Memphis, while fun and usually pretty good, will likely not be in this conference too much longer. I think Dayton, SLU, Loyola-Chicago, & VCU is better. It is close and American might make more financially.
I may not be @d1_360 but from what i heard: The Army vs Navy game will continue to be the week after Championship Saturday for CFB. And i believe they said it will be non-con. Not too sure about that one thou. Army's deal with CBS/CBSSN will remain until 2028. Just as Navy's tv deal. Army is not giving that up. And from what I've heard the league is on heavy discussions to add VCU as a non-FB member. I could have seen them add no additional members but i have no issue. Obviously besides VCU, Dayton, SLU had to be options. Should any of these or other schools join the AAC, I'd expect the A-10 to probably target Charleston whose stock is rising. But honestly, i would stay at 14. Honestly, the league needs to split into 2 leagues because not everybody is spending the same amount of resources into their basketball programs.

In a scenario in which Army and Navy finish in the top two in the conference standings, matching them up in the league's title game, they would play each other in back-to-back weeks -- first for the AAC title, and then in the rivalry game the following week, the source said" If this report is accurate Army-Navy could play each other in the AAC Championship at the higher seeds home field and then turn around and play the "rivalry" game a week later at a neutral site. Have to imagine this arrangement is required as part of thr existening CBS deal that expires until 2028?

I think VCU would be the best fit for geographical balance outside football. That's a trip that would save Temple a flight.

They should move it back to the last regular season weekend but give it its own window. The CBS "tradition" is only since 2009 deal with CBS
