Thanks! I'm binge watching! I'm a guitarist and just bought a used Fender Bass VI- with flatwounds! Have you done a McCartney lesson? Carol Kaye lesson?
You are welcome. Any hardware store has sponges. I simply cut them into the size I want. facebook.com/jim.stinnett.54/videos/vb.20804346/10101243413930519/?type=3
Brings me to the 1970's TV cops and robbers shows. Bad guy gonna pop out of the corner with a pistol and get punched out by the lead (bass) guy! Lol! Thanks for another great lesson. God Bless
Sure, Anita Baker, "Sweet Love", with Nathan East on bass. Earth, Wind, and Fire, "That's the Way of the World" "I Was Made To Love Her" by Stevie Wonder
ShrimpsTonic it’s the fender flea bass isn’t it? The Mexican made copy of Flea’s 61 jazz bass that came out a few years ago I think. A gorgeous bass nonetheless
Guys, that is indeed a fantastic bass. Remember though, 98.5% of what makes a player great comes from the hands/head/heart. The reason Jim makes that thing so killer is Jim. Not the other way round.
Thanks Jim, always a pleasure to see your videos. For me being a criterious player is the most important thing. Trying to be classy in my playing and not rushin all my licks at once! also making some space to enjoy with others dudes. I'm doing a research in youtube about PHRASE SHIFTING and BEAT DISPLACEMENT. I think it is one of the most important things when you wanna sound like you never play the same lick but in fact it is. Maybe you can clarify us with some ideas. Again, thanks Jim! :) Saludos desde Argentina
Pablo, I don't "think" quite so much about playing solos. I just try to play what sounds good to my ear. I don't worry about repeating the same ideas. I tend to repeat my "old friends" often.
Here in 2024, still learning from this amazing man. I come back to these videos regularly. RIP maestro.

ShrimpsTonic fair enough, I stand corrected. It’s a very nice looking bass.
The description of the bass in the text above. :) This model costs 4K.
