As a finnish american, i will testify, this is 100% true, people here in Finland live a great life, have everything they need, usually own a family summer cabin and sauna by a lake, have plenty of money, and mote importantly, time off to travel and vacation, and take time off when important life situations come up. Rent is affordable, housing is affordable, In the US, if you skip a week or two of work without pay, your pretty much fckd, its a full time ratrace, and the hamster wheel never slows. Finland is a phenomenal place for your average person and family to live, america is a great place to be rich, rip people off, and rake in money while paying your workers peanuts, and working them to death. Or more likely, your average american eorker id do conditioned to the disgusting work culture, they will willingly work themselves to death, and claim its not financial/economic slavery.
Living comfortably in America requires being upper class. For the lower or middle class, Europe offers a significantly better quality of life. In the U.S., “turbo capitalism” rewards entrepreneurial efforts, making it almost necessary to start a business. On the other hand, in Europe, where bureaucracy often hinders entrepreneurship, working for a company is a more practical path. It allows you to enjoy middle-class stability-holidays, a house, a car, and a balanced life. As a German who spent half a year in America, the most frustrating aspect for me was the food quality and healthcare system. The food often contains ingredients banned in Europe, and it feels like you’re paying for something that ultimately harms your health. When I visited a doctor, I had the feeling that they were more focused on prescribing unnecessary treatments or medications to make money than providing the best care. In America education is so expensive In Germany education is free Despite that , I’m considering moving to America, particularly San Francisco, because of the startup culture.

To live comfortably in the US, you have to be young, healthy, highly educated, and single. If you don't fit any of these criteria, then it's better to stay where you are.
Thanks for the video response to my comment, was actually rather aware, haven’t worked in the US but was in a startup in Singapore for a while a long time ago that had a very Silicon Valley vibe, as well as having studied in international American schools for most my childhood.
The property tax for my country house is 600€, the house is in good condition, built in 1992, 210 m2 / 2 260 sq feet, lot is 5600 m2 / 1.38 Acres with about 100 m / 109 yards of lake shore. It was cheap, only 156k €.
2:57 been in many states. LA most expensive place in USA. In NJ live cost much less, but the City is expensive too. Just one example about LA many drivers can not afford a car insurance. Think about this😮
You pay property taxes for apartment also in finland. The difference is if you live in apartment the tax is issued to whom owns the actual property the house is based on. That is usually split to annual costs of living eventually to who live at the apartment building etc. It's rarely a personal tax for people who live in apartment.
I live in utah and we are nowhere near the worst tax offenders but man is it bad. Most civil wars to include the Hebrews being freed from pharo's rule in Egypt happened over far less. @alro4153
The property tax in Finland varies from municipality (kunta) to municipality. Interestingly, as a local tax it seems to reduce NIMBYism having made people more receptive to windfarms and even nuclear power plants. Comparing income and costs between countries is complex. @alro4153 The Finnish government isn't actually the one who provides free medical insurance or funds pension funds. Using too generic terminology becomes so easily misleading. Pension funds are founded by different pension funds including the national pension fund, which gets funding in the form of insurance payments from employers and employees. The national pension offers the minimum pension for those who don't get at least similar pension from other sources. I simply don't understand what you mean by a free medical insurance. I think you might have become confused by mixing different types of healthcare and medical care systems and their funding systems.
@alro4153 Free medical care - still a sign of not knowing how medical care has been arranged in Finland. That is understandable it's somewhat complicated and also always slightly changing. Finland has a hybrid system of public and private medical care providers. Medical care is not free in that sense that they wouldn't be any fees using public services. But fees for patients who are residents of Finland, or EU countries, aren't based on actual cost of providing services. There is also an upper yearly limit even for those small fees. So they are affordable fees. If you're unable to pay them, social services can help. The idea is to have health care services available for all. The main responsibility of providing medical card services belongs to Wellbeing services counties. There are 21 wellbeing services counties in Finland. They provide the following services in their region: health services social services rescue services Each municipality belongs to a wellbeing services county, except for the City of Helsinki, which produces its own social and health services. This means that it does not belong to any wellbeing services county. The wellbeing services counties receive their funding mainly from the state. They also receive money from client and user fees. The wellbeing services counties do not collect taxes from their residents. Tasks of the wellbeing services counties The tasks of the wellbeing services counties include primary health care specialised medical care social welfare services for children, young people and families mental health services substance abuse services services for the disabled pupil welfare rescue services. In addition, the wellbeing services counties are responsible for social welfare and health care centres, hospitals and rescue departments. You can influence what happens in the wellbeing services county The wellbeing services counties are self-governing. The highest decision-making power is exercised by the county council. Its members are elected every four years in county elections. You can influence what happens in your wellbeing services county by voting in county elections. You can also submit an initiative on a matter concerning your wellbeing services county. In addition, each wellbeing services county has a council for the elderly, a council for the disabled and a youth council through which you can exert influence. Where does the wellbeing services county receive its funding? The wellbeing services county receives its funding mainly from the state. In other words, the counties do not collect any separate tax from the inhabitants in the area.
It woul be more correct to compare Finland with New Jersey, than to whole USA. Two countries are too different by size, population, demography, nature, etc.

That thing about taxes in Finland is not true. Just right wing bs. If you get bigger salary you get more money. Tax percentage just gets slowly up more you earn so that if you earn 180k it is nearly 50%..
Moving to Finland from the US today, is not, probably, a good idea. Finland flourished for the last 50 years and had advantages over many other European countries, because it was maintaining its neutral status between the West and Russia. Now it is on the way to become a dumpster, something like the Baltic States with the (highly likely) perspective to be involved in the war regardless if Finns want that or not. It is not their decision. They made their choice to be sacrificed when they decided to join NATO. Better stay in the US, Mikaela.

In the US you pay roughly 25% in taxes plus 7.25% sales tax, property tax, you really probably pay roughly 40% in taxes of several kinds each year.
Sales taxes level are different by states, and counties. Most food and medications taxes are very low, or no taxes.
