Yes, the book is trash. But the Story is so popular because it is about a man who transformed a scared, insecure little girl into a powerfull and strong woman.
It is about how She changed him, in the end, from the cold abusive monster that he was to a loving and healed man.
So they exercised control and power into one another. They turned each other into ther Best selfs, isnt it what True Love & Relationship should be like ?

The book makes it seem like she is attracted to him but intimidated by him, and gets confused with his mood swings. It's only when they open up more, she is more comfortable, but until the second, not fully comfortable.
