They are grown-ass women Irene is like 30😂 i personally also prefer their more velvet side, the music beats & the styling and all, Be Natural is one of my favourites and it features predebut Taeyong!! Surprisingly enough, RV’s red side is so damn good, instead of cute i would say it’s more quirky and weird but like bright hahaha. These girls just know how to pull their concepts off so so well

If you haven’t already you should totally check out the song ”Monster” it’s not the whole group but 2 members from Red Velvet Irene and Seulgi sing it and it’s really good.
Jumping into Red Velvet's discography is life-brightening adventure. They are weird but awesome. 🤡

To me, RV and Mamamoo define the beginning of 3rd Gen. Now that those groups are hitting the 7 year mark, groups like (G)idle and ITZY are pretty much defining 4th Gen. In this fan's opinion, anyway...

Welcome to the best discography in all of Kpop girl groups. LOONA, IZ*One, WJSN, Oh My Girl, are all right up there but RV's collection of title tracks and B-sides is still at the very top of the genre.

You're right, you can hear stilettos walking in the chorus and if I remember correctly sirens are layered somewhere in there as well (I never really heard them, but the girls talked about it!) Bad Boy really hits different, musically and visually! When it was released some actually didn't vibe with it, called it too slow and kinda boring. Probably since it isn't your typically k-pop and has more of an western vibe - The Stereotypes were the producers, they also worked a lot with Bruno Mars! (Genius has a great video, where the producers talk about how they made the track: th-cam.com/video/HR3DcUMLeN0/w-d-xo.html) So yeah. And even tho Red Velvet has many different sides to them and Bad Boys more sexy/sensual vibes aren't repeated in any title track, I do think the girls have more of a mature sexy feel whenever they deliver their velvet tracks. Be Natural and Automatic (even tho they girls were still rookies at the time) are sexy as hell, but not in a flashy/too much way. Red Velvet broke with a lot of girl groups stereotypes with their unique concept - back then girls group always fell into either the cute or girlcrush/sexy categorie. And the girls showed how you don't have to cater towards a certain demographic to be successful.
And I'd suggest you watch their other MVs in chronological order. It shows their growth and their unique dual concept the best! And maybe you could ask for the viewers' two favorite b-sides tracks of each album whenever you watch the MV of the title track and react to the top 2 afterwards. That way you get a taste of their discography, and still could do whole album listenings on your patreon!
Hi! I just want to say the sirens in Bad Boy are when Red Velvet sing the "oh we oh we oh" part during the choruses.

Yep there were already senior artists/older artists that have done this kind of vibe before LOL. But yes in terms of 3rd generation idols and for Red Velvet to show their more mature/sexier sides (which they have done through the course of their career so far) it has been accepted by GP and international fans. For Peek-A-Boo and Bad Boy it was a pleasant surprise that GP liked it and saw a more darker, but also sexy mature side of Red Velvet. Compared to 2016, when they released a title track “One Of These Nights”..which was a gorgeous ballad with some r&b-ish influence in it. At that time, GP wasn’t ready for a mature sounding and looking Red Velvet, they were used to and loved the RED side. But by end of 2017-present.. GP accepted and liked seeing a mature/sexy Red Velvet

I think it's because the girl groups you mentioned are the newer generation groups! (4th or 5th i think) Red Velvet is a 3rd generation group. Their whole Velvet concept is also the mature rnb side of them whereas Red is playful bops. I think you it'd be a good idea to react to their MVs in order so you can see how their music transformed! I think as time pass by, they slowly master their colour.
*Kpop generations move fast, because the whole industry does...* Examples (far from exhaustive or complete): GG's 0th Gen (anything before 2003): S.E.S., FinK.L. 1st Gen, "Hallyu Wave" (2003-08): SNSD, Wonder Girls, BEG, KARA; 2nd Gen (2008-13): 4MINUTE, EXID, T-ARA, AOA, f(x); 3rd Gen (2013-18) = Mamamoo, RV, CLC, Gfriend, KARD; 4th (2018-23, presumably) = (G)-idle, ITZY, LOONA, aespa, and groups yet to debut.

i would suggest starting from the beginning tbh. but i also like seeing how a groups music progresses over time rather than jumping throughout. :) so pumped to see you checking out rv. they're my favourite kpop group.
Red Velvet discography is so unique, you never know you are gonna get. And their vocals are so good for r&b music, such amazing melodies and soulful.

Such a refreshing experience to see someone react to the original ver of Bad Boy having watched the eng. ver first 😂 the lyrics to the orig ver. is cheekier but all in all still one of their best songs. I hope you react to more RV!
You should definitely watch Monster and Naughty by Irene and Seulgi. They are just amazing. The video, choreo, and vocals are just top-notch.
Fun fact: aespa are Red Velvet's junior they're in the same company (SM) as TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls Generation, SHINee, F(X), EXO, NCT
Wow someone who know the English lyrics to Bad Boy! Its not a direct translation between the two languages but fairly close. Happiness was their first song, released in 2014, before Yeri started performing with the group. It is definitely Red side!

Just as a note, they also have some songs that stray away from both straight pop and R&B, sometimes including influences from hip-hop & EDM. eg: Attaboy, Time Slip & My Second Date, though they don't have music videos.

Red velvet is just different man. They’re different!! If producers/hiphop artists/underground rappers commend you for your artistry and not just by the looks you know they are special. If you'll be a Kpop fan for a long time then you'll know by heart that Red Velvet is the most unique and most versatile girl group alive in Kpop history.
I was not pulled in by Psycho or Bad boy but their B-sides got me completely and that's crazy because it's so rare for me to love almost of their B-sides which never happened to me in any other girl or boy groups in general.

Oh I'm so happy you went with these ones next! They're probably their best loved title tracks on the international side. RV's discography is extremely varied in genre but they always bring the vocals. Haha Irene is the Original Visual after all. Your headphones weren't glitching, you were right they added the sound effect of their heels clicking. They actually have a wide range of ages, Irene is 30 (SHINee aged) and Yeri is 22 (just one year older than Aespa Karina and Giselle, same age as NCT Mark) Who is that was Joy. WHO IS THAT was also Joy haha. Wow vocals are usually Wendy but sometimes Seulgi as well.
This is very understated sexy, there was a whole trend of sexy concept girl groups with incredible music around 2010-2014 like 9muses, AOA, EXID, Brown Eyed Girls, Girl's Day and even Kara and SNSD dipped their toes in a few times. Mamamoo are the ones who bring a grown woman feel to kpop these days.
My favourite b-side with a video is Look, it's a funky retro jam that they uploaded as a (very rare!) dance practice with studio quality audio, it's well worth adding to your list. Irene & Seulgi's Naughty is also a favourite, best choreo of 2020 tied with Taemin's Criminal imo. My vote is for chronological, but I know that's more of a commitment so whatever is fine! Would you want to watch a guide at some point?
Edit: Chungha! How could I forget! One of the best dancers in the business with an excellent discography who also sometimes leans into a mature concept, she was part of IOI (the original Produce series group) but has a very successful career as a soloist.
It’s SM of course there will be vocals and a perfect MV. But yes you understand the Velvet concept , Red Velvet is a mood you have everything you’re searching for here. You must check their MV and of course their albums 😘

Also, another group with grown-ass women is Mamamoo. If sexy is what you're looking for, I'd recommend starting with Egotistic. Or Wind Flower, which was inspired by 90's Hong Kong film noir for a more moody, darker vibe.
I know what you mean about the mature vibe. I am way more into boy groups but I find when I like girl groups it is more the mature vibes and not the cute concepts I like. That is why I like Mamamoo so much, their concepts always seem very grown up to me, I think you would like checking them out sometime. The two songs are two of my favorite Red Velvet songs along with Monster by Irene and Seulgi.

Psycho is such a bittersweet song. It's got amazing vocals, visuals,and the song is amazing but then Wendy's accident happened just a few days later and they weren't able to perform as a group for a year and 8 months

Thank you for reacting to Red Velvet. They are my ultimate girl group. Their vocal is top tier, their discography is very diverse, and they have amazing personality. Overall, they are versatile artists. For me, RV is 'that' girl group the same way as EXO is 'that' boy group..
I suggest you go by chronological order to see how they switching style (RED or VELVET).
I highly recommend you watch a guide to red velvet :) it will help in recognizing them and explain some things in their mv also, and also vocally this is my favorite girl group and I love their concept of using their name for their songs, they are both CUTE yet WEIRD in the best way possible. EXO and Red Velvet is it for me when it comes to kpop vocals and concept.

Question, have you been introduced to solo artists like Sunmi, Jessi, Gain or hyolyn? If not, I highly recommend you check these girls out because your mind will be blown. For Sunmi I would recommend tail, Jessi Nuna Nana, Gain Paradise Lost and Hyolyn Dally. I really hope u give them a shot because they are amazingly talented singers and dancers who all aim to break what women are allowed to choose and do in the kpop industry.

I think if maybe no other girl groups before them have done a sexy concept, RV might have gotten some scrutiny. But a lot of 2nd gen girl groups were much more blatantly sexy. Personally, I even found some MVs to be uncomfortable to watch when cameras are focused more on the girls' bodies than their faces or whole person.
