    From a dutch perspective that cycle tour is a great way to sample dutch culture. That relaxed feeling of freedom on your bike is basically dutch life in a nutshell.

    My goodness, that girl reminds me SO MUCH of ME when I first arrived in the Netherlands (I'm 71 years old now and have lived here for over 30 years) .. I'm still just as enthusiastic as I was the day I arrived .. just like her. Hope you enjoyed your stay guys. 🌹

    Dutch pancakes isn't really breakfast food. More lunch or even dinner, mostly a fast and easy meal to please the kids with.

    I love that you guys did this bike tour! Riding a bike in that kind of weather in the countryside is THE most Dutch thing there is and only very little tourists get to experience that. Really appreciate you guys for picking all the not so touristy stuff and by that showing the people on your chanel the real and not very well known side of the Netherlands!

    Loved the vlog but just to be clear; there's no such a thing as a display-windmill. All windmills were actually in use and are still in use but maybe for a different purpose then grinding wheat or pumping water. I'ts not part of a 'display-for-tourists' type of thing:). Just wanted to straighten that out for y'all.

      Hi!! Thanks so much. We take that as a huge complement. We work very hard to put out 5 videos a week and continue to create high quality vlogs. We find our music on sound cloud and make sure its royalty free. Our Travels are funded by Josh working on the side for a client, TH-cam and Patreons. At this point if one of those fell through we couldn't afford it. -Ash

    The town I am in has a real working windmill from the Netherlands and it grinds grains oddly also the name of this town in the states is Holland Mi. founded by the Dutch.

      It's not odd it grinds grains. :) We have two types of mills in the Netherlands. ones that pump water to make land and ones that grinds stuf, like grain and stones. So you have 'normal' mill.

    I think the last time I hopped on a bike, I must've been around 10! But I'd be more than willing to get back on for such a tour. I probably haven't forgotten how to pedal. lol
    Interesting fact about windmills!
    One thing I'm wondering..is "Holland" just another name for the Netherlands? Or is it like a state/province within the country?

    • @gstar1084
      @gstar1084 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Holland was the name of the most powerfull province in the Republic of the Netherlands (that's why everyone knows the name). It was broken up in two parts, North-Holland and South-Holland: two of the twelve provinces of the present day Kingdom of the Netherlands.

    • @jarikvanduijn
      @jarikvanduijn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have 12 provinces in the netherlands one of them is called north holland the other one south holland. in those two provinces are most of the bigger cities the goverment etc. so the correct way is saying the netherlands but it is not a very big deal.

    I have two suggestions for you next time if you come here , come to my hometown Nunspeet you can rent here a bike with an old fashioned motor on it and then you can ride them to elburg (tiny city (because of the city walls) ) surrounded by farmlands and its beutyfull and second suggestion go to lelystad thats the most impressive way to see something below sea level because you go down massive dijken (really beutyfull sight 👍🏻 but love these vids man(and girl😆) keep them coming 👍🏻✌🏻️🇳🇱

    There are rumors that The Netherlands are so flat that on Saturdays you can already see who comes for a visit on Sunday ;-) You have been lucky to visit Amsterdam before 2 severe storms
    hit Northern Europe. Today, Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin and other cities have no train connections at all as trees fell into the rails. No weather for biking, for sure.
    Should you come to Germany next year, bring better weather. If not, we will name the first storm of 2018 "Ash" ....

    Not to be rude, but if there's no difference in flavours (a.k.a. you'd like the Dutch pancake as well) and you're going to experience the Netherlands, wouldn't you just get a Dutch pancake with bacon and egg, instead of the American one?
