- The carillon is played by a silent and masked "spirit of the bells" that appears only to breathe life into the instrument for the performance. The "spirit" and creator of Cast in Bronze, Frank Della Penna, began his studies in Valley Forge, PA, and is a graduate of the French Carillon School in Tourcoing, France.
ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE.We have even heard him play at Disney World in Orlando Florida back in the 1980's! We just love Mr. Della Penna. We see him and his other partner at Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, TX EVERY APRIL TO MEMORIAL DAY!
Same in Colorado
That is incredible, and his talent has no equal! I would dearly love to play with him! I am a Native American flute artist and I think the wood flutes playing with him and his incredible instrument would be absolutely incredible. I think it would sound like heaven! I think I will get a hold of a CD of his and see if I could play along.
It would be ! Awesome Instrument.
Bonjour. Cher Défékator, je ne vous savais pas ce talent ! Bravos !
The reason for the mask is carillons are usually heard from bell towers and no one ever sees the performer.
This guy is amazing. What a talent and life to have, and play that instrument
Saw him at Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival in West Newton, PA. for the first time in 2009! And seen him every year after that until he retired. I have all his cd's & dvd's with autographs.
Now Charlie is doing the Carillon. Bells 2 Go, can be found here & Facebook!! 😊
2021..I still love you 😍 n sharing
This guy is a real beast. What a true master!
Truly remarkable to see in person!
I just saw Him today at the Erie County Fair, Hamburg, NY for the second time...! A TRUE Maestro of the Carrilon!!
He is amazing! We've been watching him perform for many years. First discovered him at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival over 10 years ago. A brilliant person!
I listened to him at the Renaissance festival and am truly obsessed he is amazing and people only hate because they can't make something sound so beautiful👌 the first time I heard him play I cried it was amazing ❤
I saw this at the Pittsburgh Ren Faire in 2005. Brilliant.
He's excellent I'm so glad I got his CDs and autograph in colorado
Christina Henze same. It’s super cool
Same
He used to perform yearly at PA Renn Faire in October. It was the best month of the faire. We got his CD's and autograph, as well. His music is haunting and beautiful.
I saw his show at a Renaissance Faire and found him and this instrument to be mesmerizing. When he plays The Carol of the Bells it is nothing short of amazing. His show is worth seeing again and again.
this is why i love going to the festival this man right here
2019 I m glad I just went to the Renaissance festival today :)
He was playing an awesome skills wow .I m a fan :)
my son and nephew got a pic with him at a fair cast in bronze is great I hope to see it again
I just saw him perform this evening in Pa, and he was Awesome.
I disagree, the background music, the mask and movements create an even more eerie effect
Back ground music to loud
I am a big fan of yours, and of the Carillon instrument. You are creative, and amazing!
I like the mystery of the mask that goes along with the performances! I've not heard this piece before. It's wonderful!
Yes I know it is Frank and have been friends for years. I go ever weekend to listen to Frank play the bells.
Was there today! Was always my fave! From Pittsburgh- Jen
@Bignuke87 I think it is look at how he moves just unmasked
@@Razoor_ it isn't, we spoke to a guy who knows Frank, he said Frank retired and this new guy is his apprentice
Thanks for everything! Here’s a little something for you: th-cam.com/video/qDeVxNat4Hs/w-d-xo.html
"An instrument so rare, no one knows it exists."
My God, really?
Sheesh.
I am sure his performances are different, but the song I really enjoyed was the one right after this [would you happen to know which one I am talking about]. Like I said in an earlier post, the background music, the mask and his movements, really made the song I am talking about eerie and awesome.
I've had the most amazing experience in listening to Cast in Bronze at Scarborough Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie, Texas a number of years ago. He is a true talent and very expressive preformer. Thank you for sharing your friend's wonderous gift, Gman611.
So talented! What an awesome show!
Saw him at the NC state fair ,Amazing
Ali khan
My wife and I did too. The garden setting at the state fair was magical. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is my favorite tune of his... Maybe one of my favorite tunes of all time!!!! I would like some more music of his along the lines of this particular song - any recommendations???? I have Bells From Hell and Spirit Of The Bells already.
Met him Pittsburgh Ren Fest..he's amazing
The judges didn't have the intellect to see that this is an outstanding, trained musician. What he does is amazing, beautiful, and the mask keeps with the theme of the unknown musician playing the carrillion. The judges showed themselves to be a bunch of uneducated jerks. The comments really didn't need to be so cruel if this talent was beyond their comprehension!!
Unbelievable beautiful , but a litle bit .. scary
Does he talk to folks after the show and do autographs?
Yes Frank. Is glad to talk to his fans and sign autographs.
He is an amazing man.
I agree! Back in 15th Europe, these Carillon players were usually unable to be seen as they played them while hiding themselves. His suit is a symbol and homage to that. I'm not a fan of the mainstream stuff that they praise on that show. I mean, how many singers who play instruments have we seen? They praise them, then comes along a master of an instrument that almost no one has heard of, and they all give him the red x. If people want unique and different, I say give him a chance!
How much does that rig cost?
VOTE FOR HIM HE'S AWESOME DON'T JUST SAY HE IS HE IS GREAT
I saw him ..he's incredible
Explain to me just how they could all give him the red x on AGT today. >:( It's clear he's got great potential.
k thx man
Ur absolutely amazing i wish i could listen to u all day
This song is Reflection from Spirit of the Bells CD.
This guy should have his own show in Las Vegas.
I saw this in a movie
Eh, its ok. The synths get kinda lame like having a stratovarious jam out with a cheap pawn store bass. Get some pipe organs up in there and some timpanis and that would be a real jam session.
I think this has great potential, but I think it should be played alone perhaps without a backing track track. Either it's the over tones of some of the bells making them sound out of tune against the track or they just are out of tune because not all the bells sound this way. Just some of them. It would be less noticeable without the track...or just need a retune.
STELLAR!!!
Did they say no photographic or filming
I'm a friend of Frank and he gives me permission to take video and pictures for him. It was my videos and my account that got him on America's Got Talent. So he could fulfill his dream to get Cast in Bronze on national TV.
Ok thanks
(:
maybe they gave him an X because the instrument has so high voice coming from it when its performed loud, so ppl couldnt hear it well rather than getting annoyed by it.
But this is really a so great instrument to hear to and this guy knows how to play !
keep rocking Frank
I thought it was a great talent & all the X's on AGT were in appropriate. Maybe 'Carol of the Bells' was a poor song choice, since it is a Christmas song.
The judges on AMT sucked all the intelligence out of the room Tues. night. Bronze bells are the essence of tonality. Bronze is used in the bells and piano strings and guitar strings and other musical instruments. The fact that he could play this Carillon was amazing.
AGT viewers gave this "masked man" the heave ho, NOT the judges.
Yep they were only focusing on his mask and what he was wearing. Close the eyes feel the music see the music.
F A N T A S T I C...
Yes
Who cares what he looks like close your eyes and feel and see the music.
Thanks for the info :)
yes Frank does and search for CarillonBellsMan.
I agree and we all need to vote him into the finals.
I'd like to make a request. Anita's Ward's "Ring My Bell."
im there every year i love this guy...his name is Frank :D
He always scared me when I was a kid
I lave his work and can't wait for 2010 to come.
Does this guy have his own youtube channel?
We'll have to take your word for it.
he got lots of talent i would love to see this in person
That is really creppy
They got ride of his amazing talent AGT
I love everythhing about it.
i think hes great
This was the best talent in AGT
LOVE this!!
Watched this guy once when I was maybe 12. Always loves bells, chimes, and music boxes ever since.
Most influential musician I've ever witnessed.
yes they were
@ManicOne80
😥
Gwb
I can play the piano with my fists too, just never tried to make a career out of it.
when was the last time you were on America's got talent
does anyone know wat song this is?
What a ding-a-ling.
The music is great but loose the mask as the "Kiss" look takes away from the instrument, making the performance comical!
The bells deserve better than a "side show Bob" look.
