    The wireless model can be used while charging, so it won't be dependent on being charged for you to use it. If it runs dry of threatens to, you can just plug in a wire and charge it while using it.

    I love the sliding mute switch of my Modmic 4, as I use it while in VR it makes it easy to know that I've muted or unmuted myself, so I'm definitely not a fan of the digital mute switch as I can't feel if it's muted or unmuted so I'd have to check.
    I'm all for that Tactile feedback so I don't have to use my eyes for double checking.

    How to make Modmic 4/5/Uni sound good:
    1. Get a sabrent USB card for like $5 on Amazon.
    2. Use the short cable plugged into an usb extender. Don't use the long modmic cable as its not well shielded and adds noise.
    3. Thank me later

      i recommend USB because the 3.5mm jacks, even the one used in this video with the USB sound card - have unwanted noise.

    Just popping in to warn anyone, do not buy the uni mod mic, it doesn't sound nearly as good as the omni directional mic, and is AUX only. Unless you've already got a good amp, your PC's AUX port will more than likely not push enough power to drive it, and it'll sound terrible and faint. Don't cheap out on the mod mic, or you'll shelve it, and it'll gather dust in its lovely pleather case in your tech draw while you invest in a half decent boom setup.

      Hi. I'm trying to decide between the uni and usb. I'm going to be using this for my Xbox one but I will be plugging it into an Astro mix amp pro that I have via a y adapter. Do u think the mix amp will give the uni a good enough sound quality increase or should I just get the USB and plug that into a port on my Xbox?

      @@agoogleuser9025 Nope, but last I checked the V-moda requires the headphones to have a 3.5 mm jack and detachable cables. That sharply limits your choices for what cans to use with them. I picked up the Modmic USB and because it's completely unconnected from the cans it will work with anything I can glue the mounting piece to. Using the cable clips to clip its cable to the headphone cable means it's not really bothersome either.

    I've bought two Modmics, the 4 and the 5 and both of them broke within 1 year of use, and Antlion refused to warranty them, So it's quite difficult to justify buying them. I feel as though their quality control is very poor. I like the mics otherwise.

      Just commenting on my 5 month old comment that I happened to stumble across. I've used the Modmic wireless for nearly 6 months without any problem. Still getting
      11-12 hours out of a full charge and the mic works perfectly. Only had problems attaching the magnetic clips, just decided to superglue them to my headphone and no problem.
      I also used to have the modmic 4 for years, which still worked until I sold them. I guess you're just really unlucky, can't comment about their support though, since I buy from amazon.

      I have the ModMic 5 for about 2 years now. The Omnidirectional mode on it always gave a bit of feedback (noise) to my teammates, so I ran it in Unidirectional for the majority of those two years. I JUST got the wireless ModMic in last weekend - while in Discord on my ModMic 5 - I told my long time gamer friends I was going to switch over to the new wireless ModMic. They told me it sounded better; note: I did go back and forth between Omi and Uni on the new wireless one - and they said Omni was better as well. So... as long as I got the same or slightly improved sound quality, I am happy since the wireless convenience is a game changer. I was afraid the wireless was going to be too heavy; it's not at all, and without the extra wire dangling there, it makes a noticeable difference in comfort to the overall setup. I can now sell off my Mayflower ARC and upgrade my AMP/DAC.

      Helpful comment. (I have a ModMic5 and it's pretty good but pretty bad in its own league).
      Without the overheating was the ModMic USB easier to setup? I find the ModMic 5 to be far too quiet, even with a soundcard and have to use AGC but from what I understand the ModMic USB uses a preamp already...

    Great review man. Question though, have you ever tried the modmic wireless with an iPad running iPad OS?

  • @theone-eyedcat2641
    @theone-eyedcat2641 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's not proper testing Z! Three things real quick:
    - You can't set the Modmic W on the left because you need to be able to use while charging and it won't work this way with the cable
    - Battery of the Modmic W doesn't hold that long and takes age to charge
    - The lights on the dongle are annoying as fuck, it has to be said
    Great product though, just needs some improvements.

    • @totalbaddie

      Samson Q2U is pretty good. I recommend the cheap Behringer audio interface pairing just because if you leave the usb plugged in and restart your computer the mic peaks continuously. (at least on my computer)

    • @Brunnen_Gee

      I use a cheap Chinese condenser mic, the Zingyou BM-800 ($27.50 on Amazon right now with the Black Friday sale for the kit with the boom arm) with a Neewer phantom power supply (under $20). Cheaper than all these ModMics and sounds way better.

    I'd advise making these videos shorter! 9 minutes before you have tested anything. Just a suggestion.

    • @ot9er
      @ot9er 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, extremely repetitive and could even have made the whole thing as short as nine minutes. The constantly moving camera made me seasick, too. I'm not dinging his rating, because it was easy enough to predict when I could skip five or ten seconds at time, like during the umms and other repetitive or info-less periods of time.

    don't buy or shill this garbage, zeos posted a better and cheaper mic to use with the shp9000s. These mics break easy and sound like shit for the price, their marketing budget is probably 100x the cost of production to make this shit.
