One of my favorite races, so great to see it in whole. My word, the air USA-1 gets is insane, what other Motorsport launches 10,000 pounds of leaf sprung truck 20 feet up and 80ish feet across 12 cars. Compared to later record breaking jumps , USA-1 still has the stock Chevy 1 ton 3500 frame, beefed up of course. And the Only high technology on the truck was probably the ignition and Rod Litzau’s driving. Not to discredit the other trucks though. John Moore ran hard, 20:06 No Problem would’ve won that match against anyone else that day, except USA-1. I could go on, thanks for posting.
The 1988 USA-1 was the first truck to utilize a Profab quick change transfer that allowed for a higher gear ratio. Further more, the truck was one of the very few that was able to run straight off the axle without planetaries, thus allowing it to achieve greater speeds.
@@tsmitty777you sure the axle broke that day? According to Litzau, the bell housing on the transmission cracked in half down the middle from the pressure of the bounce and then the transmission went out. I know he broke an axle on one of the closed arena courses against bigfoot, but I'm not so sure it was an axle that broke that day

Also, I still hope you have Toronto 1989 Shows 1-3, Long Island 1989 Show 1, Chicago 1989 Show 1, & Nashville 1999 Week 2. I even found out that there are other 1989 videos that are either missing parts or aren’t even on here.
