    Thank you so much Rich. After I had a stroke, some years ago , gradually I forgot how to do things with my iPhone, I am 68 yrs young but I get frustrated when one day I did something on my cell phone then if a week passed I would have no recollection so after watching you I think I can get around things better. I live in the UK . I will pop in from time to time to see what you have come up with…thank you 😮

    You’re slowly helping to remove objections to switching from pen and paper to notes. Thanks Rich

      Ha! Maybe I'm just old and so used to pen and paper, but it really is hard to beat. But I have my phone in my pocket most of the time and I don't carry a notepad any more so Apple Notes is slowly taking over. Even if my natural reflex is to grab a pen and paper! Thanks for watching!

    I must say I use notes all the time really for all my text needs: I’ve got over 250
    Saved notes. It’s better than using the text apps on iPhone because of notes being so accessible. I draft any complicated e mail I may need to send in notes
    I compose anything that’s going into a translation app.
    And I er… write poetry in notes it’s a great place to store poems, long or short.
    And of course you can send e mails directly from notes.
    It’s also good for storing links and web addresses. And I just shudder when I remember Apple very nearly discontinued notes !!!!
    Brilliant app long may it shine a light!
    And

      I agree with everything you've written. I'm so glad Apple finally built in some Notes improvements a few years ago making it much more functional. Thanks for sharing how you use Notes. It will help a lot of people who read these comments. And thanks for watching!

    • @johnlawrence2757
      @johnlawrence2757 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hah! Yes, we oldies (UK term) must stick together. Actually Apple also removed the ability to live from one note to another which was a bit anti-social of them, but perhaps the best thing about as a plain text app is you don’t even have to save them! They just stay within the app and never disappear into some arcane spot deep within your hard drive. I don’t give them separate folders though - just search a key world and up it pops. So have a good holiday and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Great video! I’m in the process of learning how to set up a digital filing system. Your system using notes is great. But what is the relationship with the notes app and the file app? Do you also have a filing system using the file app?

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a great question. You can actually use either app for a filing system. I used mouse the Files app for most of this stuff. But I've slowly moved to Notes as I find them more flexible regarding note taking as an accompaniment to what ever I'm storing. I need to do a video on this. Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi Rich
    Have you done a video on how to edit videos for TH-cam? I record a daily ‘ thought for the day’ on my camera and upload it to TH-cam. If I make a mistake or cough or something I start over and record again. Do you know how to edit a video on the iPad? Or in TH-cam itself? I have looked for help but they go so fast and are so complicated. I am a senior or retired living in South West England. Thank you.

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marion! Just watched your thought for the day for Dec 29. What a wonderful message! Well delivered with wisdom and clarity. So many need to hear this. As for your question, I've not made a video on how to edit videos. Ultimately, it takes time and effort to learn the technical side. I learn something new with every video. My experience has been as long as the audio is good and the content helpful, your channel will grow. I wish I could supply a shortcut of sorts, but the software I use (Final Cut Pro) has a fairly steep learning curve. Having said that, I'm sure you're more than capable of learning if you'd like to give it a go. And I encourage youth do so! I have edited software on the iPad with Luma Fusion. You might give that a try. Either way, I wish you the best!

    You make great videos but I am sometimes slow to catch on. I have watched your videos on notes numerous times and I am betting that most people got it quickly but I still don’t know how to use my notes app. I don’t understand what the little symbols mean to write stuff with or what to click on to add stuff, I know the folder symbol, the camera, and the invite symbol but none of the rest. I feel like an idiot for writing this but I am going on the cliché “there are no dumb questions “ which I have no doubt just proved that cliché wrong!!!!

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not at all! Sometimes people need a basic video - not one where it's assumed the viewer knows a bunch of stuff about the app. I've been thinking a lot about this lately and your comment supports the idea of creating a "basics" playlist for many of Apple apps. Once iOS 17 comes out, I'll probably start building out the series. Hang in there and thanks so much for watching!

    Technically I know all of those features exist but until now it's all seemed a bit too fiddly. I love the fact that photos and scans will no longer clutter up my Photos app. Brilliant. At 58 I don't consider myself to be a senior (I stopped growing up at 14, adulthood seemed far too tedious) or a tech newbie, I've had an iMac since 1999; on top of that I have a very minor role in a trillion dollar fruity tech giant so I should be teaching you--not the other way around! 🙂

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Both are notes. The difference is how you access them. The quick note is designed to be right at your fingertips when you need it - like a pen and pad. A regular note requires you to open the Notes app, tap on the new note icon and start from there - a little more time-consuming. Hope this makes sense. Thanks so much for watching!

    Once again you’ve brought us a very useful tutorial. This one on “Notes” and “Quick Notes”. I did not know Quick Notes existed. This will definitely be helpful when I need to write something down, especially in a pinch and have no paper or pen. Also, the scan feature is helpful to scan in receipts, business cards or any document you need. Thank you for explaining how to navigate the app. Kindness, Teresa
