Tak also means "I" or "will/might/would do" or "do" at certain point in Indo (is it works too in Malay?). For example: Tak (I) baikin(will repair, slang) ini (this), and Aku (I) tak (will/might/would do / do) pergi (go) ke (to) pasar (market) aja (this acts like "hai" word in Indian or means "just" depending the topic).
Edited to add the word "would." Forgot as my mind didn't made up of that word a little time ago.

    • @TinaAmir
      @TinaAmir  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Different...
Tak always mean tidak or no, in Malay.
      Aku always mean I
aja shortened from sahaja, yes mean "just" as well :)

the syntax is surprisingly similar to my language romanian, we have "nu" for "no" and "nare" for "dont have", one word is used for different negative meanings. thanks for the videos! i am learning this at 3am out of curiosity haha

This lady use Malay language that we use everyday. But if you go outside of Kuala Lumpur. You can see many Malay people use Bahasa Melayu that is very different that you see in this video. It will be more difficult to for non Malay speaker to understand it. For me I live in Selangor. For example:
English : What time is it?
Bahasa Melayu (Baku) : Sekarang pukul berapa?
Bahasa Melayu (Selangor, Outside Kuala Lumpur) : Skang ko bape ah?
But yeah, that is how I say it. But it depends on the person. Some people say it in a different way. Also, sorry for my bad English.😅😅😅

      Hi Bilal
Do you think I speak too fast? I'm sorry, but I cannot speak too slow,
otherwise, simple lesson won't be finished after three hours!
The best thing about video is that you can regulate the speed
on your own, that suits you best!
      Here's
how to adjust speed of videos :)

Great tutorial! This tutorial is about everyday colloquial Malay as spoken in Malaysia, not the extremely standardized rigid one..
Ini tutorial yg cukup baik, ia mengajar cara bercakap Melayu harian, bukan bahasa Melayu yg terlalus tandard dan membuat penutur yg baru belajar menjadi kekok.

Hello, thank you for the video, I am learning a little Malay to add to my repertoire of spoken languages, and to speak to the Malaysian students at a large university in my job there. Fun stuff, it is fairly easy to get the phrasing first, then after becoming familiar with the sounds, the background information helps it all make sense. I will check back later when I feel capable in conversation with a native speaker.
    EDIT:Subscribed!
