Its a bit difficult.. swedish songs its a lot of references to living in the high north.. its kinda Alaska! In anyway.. its still this femal/male thing and find a partner.. get going and make a family! Soo.. a femal swedish version, how to get togheter.. and become partners/a family! th-cam.com/video/EIJbpR0vIos/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Quiddity Its this, swedish women supose to be equal, have education.. they have the same problem to find the right spouse, like the guys!
Good choice! I'm lucky to have seen her perform on stage. Captivating! She had a fantastic start in her career, singing with a lot of jazz legends in USA before moving back to Sweden. Lucky us for getting her back!
If you want to react to more of Monica then I HIGLY recommend "Sakta vi gå genom stan" And her version of "Ack, Värmeland du sköna" is one of my favorites
Monica Z was very talented in many genres; as jazz and schlager singer, actress ( The Emigrants 1971 with Max Von Sydow) and as comedian in many shows. She was loved and famous in Sweden and abroad.
Pianist Bill Evans went to Sweden to make an album with her. Listen to Monica singing his song Waltz for Debbie. (Some say he was in love with Monica after meeting her in New York)
Monica Z represented Sweden in Eurovision 1963. We really sent our big guns early in that competition. We also sent another beloved and famous jazz singer, called Alice Babs. Her most famous songs are _Regntunga skyar_ and _Swing it, magistern_ - both from the movie _Swing it, magistern._ Both are legends today.
Monica was a part of AB Svenska Ord (Swedish Words). A production company owned and operated by the genius duo that was Hans Alfredson and Tage Danielsson (Actors, comedians, writers, lyricists, humanists and philanthropists). She also did a marvellous song called "in new york" which is a swedish lyrics set to the jaz hit "take five". But if you guys wanna hear the most amazing song with Monica it is: "Sakta vi gå genom stan".
Some other great songs by her are Sakta vi gå genom stan (We walk slowly through the town (Stockholm) and Att angöra en brygga (To dock a jetty). The latter song is from a movie she acted in, both the song and the move bevcame hits.
”Sakta vi gå genom stan” is a cover of ”Walking my baby back home” with Swedish lyrics by another all-round entertainment legend, Beppe Wolgers, and the brilliant arrangement by yet another giant, the recently deceased Georg Riedel.
7:30-7:50 she sings about meeting the other woman with a hammer hidden under her coat. But when she sees her, she forgets what she wanted to do and they end up becoming friends, sort of.
This is a great song by Olle Adolphson. If you get a special song written for you by Bill Evans (Waltz for Debby) you know you are a great singer, and that´s exactly what Monica Zetterlund got. Fantastic! R.I.P.
I've been listening to another of her recordings of this song a lot, but never seen her sing it! It's absolutely amazing! The perfect understated acting timed perfectly with the words... Brilliant! Monica's Waltz is another great song! Trubbel was written by Olle Adolphson from a male perspective, but apparently she asked him for permission to change a few words to make from a female perspective, it took a while for him to approve.
Monica died in 2005, when she was 67. I remember that day. She had called the equivalent of 911, saying that her bed was on fire. She had probably been smoking in bed. Her last words, as far as we know, was "I don't want to die this way." She was so loved in Sweden. Her death is an absolute horror story. I personally think she was a better vocalist than Alice Babs (and if you don't know who that is-- well then I envy you your next TH-cam searches).
Jag var ute och gick på Östermalm då brandkåren plötsligt ryckte ut framför mig. Senare när jag hörde om hennes död förstod jag att jag passerat precis när olyckan skedde och att det var därför brandkåren ryckte ut.
I wouldn't really call this song tragic. It really has a fairly humorous undertone. It's really about a person who always avoids conflict at any cost, and how everyone takes advantage of that person. And since being afraid of conflict is prety common in Sweden, a lot of people here see the person in this song as an exaggerated version of themselves, and it makes them laugh. My favorite song with her is "Sakta vi gå genom stan", a song that's mainly about how beautiful Stockholm is in summer.
Z was the voice of a generation. Trouble was a great one. ”I walked in with the hammer under my jacket…” Its a song about murder. Except it didn’t happen in the end.
MZ was Aldo called ”a lingonberry rise put in a cocktail glass”. Fantastic singer!! TIPS! Another Swedish singer with kind of the same ”airie” voice is Rebecka Thörnqvist. Listen to her jazzie songs - many of them by her own hand - and take this videoclip as an inspiration. /JohanL, Stockholm • Sweden th-cam.com/video/CqBLZVlSyMA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pym5z2_sCATWA2rG
Tip! Listen to “Allt det vackra” by Benjamin Ingrosso (video with Kungliga filharmonikerna here on TH-cam)✨ Benjamin’s Swedish albums are magical but he’s also exploding right now with English songs alongside his tour in Europe🥳
If you want to listen to more classics I would recommend- Cornelis Vreeswijk Balladen om herr Fredrik Åkare och den söta fröken Cecilia Lind (super long name I knooow, so I’ll leave a link to it here also) th-cam.com/video/TJgdrkMtyA0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dNSP4zJX3pwWlryv
It was Olle Adophlson who right the song.. as a male song how it is living in far north, and have marige problems! Monica did a femal version of it! In anyway, heres the original; th-cam.com/video/6KHKrkj5CoY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=OlleAdolphson
The song is by en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olle_Adolphson. The clip is from some TV show, not a movie. The best known movie Monica did was probably en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emigrants_(film) with Max von Sydow and Liv Ullman (several Oscar nominations but no win)

Her version of Toots Thielemans Bluesette, called Bedårande sommarvals in swedish, is very very good and higley recomended.
Good choice!

❤this singer.

Monicas voice is legendary.

Very talented singer. I love listening to her. Greetings from Sweden!
She was a great singer and so incredible beautiful. I am from Sweden too. Thank you for the reaction😊
I like the song - En gång i Stockholm with Monica Z .(from 1963 )
Trubbel is a very famous melody in Sweden. It is written by Olle Adolphson. And there are many artists who have recorded this song.
Monica Z represented Sweden in Eurovision 1963. We really sent our big guns early in that competition.

Alice Babs was Duke Ellingtons favorite singer. He wrote A Sacred Consert for her.

She pulls off that "jazzy blaze gaze" off 100% staring into oblivion, an attempt to detach from emotion and trauma while talking about it.
This is a great song by Olle Adolphson. If you get a special song written for you by Bill Evans (Waltz for Debby) you know you are a great singer, and that´s exactly what Monica Zetterlund got. Fantastic! R.I.P.
I'm so glad you posted this. The video of her singing has been copyrighted so this is the only way I've found to see it.
Monica Zetterlund is kind of underrated. Try listen to her song "Att angöra en brygga" it's from a swedish comedy movie.
I've been listening to another of her recordings of this song a lot, but never seen her sing it! It's absolutely amazing! The perfect understated acting timed perfectly with the words... Brilliant! I think you would like Bo Kaspers ”Undantag” and ”Svårt att säga nej”
Everyone born before 1968 knows who she was, even me 😊

She represented sweden in eurovision 1963
Listen to a young Zara Larsson ”Uncover” 9 years ago she sang this
My mother went to school with Monica. They were both tomboys. 😎
Here she is kind of talk singing which fits the song, but she did more singing in other songs
MZ was Aldo called ”a lingonberry rise put in a cocktail glass”. Fantastic singer!!
