- Join me as I venture to Folkestone Harbour on the Kent coast to see what it has to offer. I couldn’t believe how good it actually was and I will be returning VERY soon - check out this video to see exactly why!
From the beautiful sandy beach to the hipster bars and food places on the harbour arm, there really is something for everyone here.

Jack I see you didn’t get to the other side of Folkestone. Walk up along the sea front towards the Pavilion and Band stand around there the view is fab. Then make your way down the ZigZag path to the beach it stretches way up to Sandgate the Hive. . From the harbour walk up the original cobblestone road into the town centre. Coffee galor. Next time eh 🌊🌊🌊🌊☀️🌊🌊🌊😎

@@jackryanmiller nice one 👍. A seaside town that is still chilled during bank holidays. We take our bikes and ride along the beach walk ,way along for several miles 🌊🌊🚴🚴♀️🌊🌊🌊 once in an awhile, fold up bikes in the car from London that is. Keep Smiling 🥰😎☀️🌊🌊🌊

It's a shame that you are a couple of decades too late for the "Rotunda Amusement Park" and the large Sunday Market on the promenade.
That is a shame, I just looked up the amusement park it looks great !!
I did use to be a train station. It was called harbour station. it was last used around 2006, as the harbour closed. Soldiers from millions of soldiers left there during WW1. The fort is a Martello tower, built as a defence against Napoleon. There are around 5 of them. It’s bluebells over the white cliffs of Dover.

You have just gave away the best kept secret for an up an coming seaside resort !!!
It's becoming Shoreditch on sea with so many great bars and restaurants and with the old town with creative artists in all aspects.
The beach in the harbour is tidal so is always very clean.
The coast path towards the Lees is a lovely place for families to enjoy the park for children of all ages.
The Mermaid beach has a great cafeteria with great food and drinks with beach an sea views.
Also the pebble beach is a good spot for families enjoying a picnic and have a swim or relax on an inflatable.
You will not find a funfair or shops selling kiss me quick hat's !

You can book a cheap ticket in advance from International St Pancras to Folkestone West or Central train that only takes under an hour ???

The art sculptures you see around Folkstone was done by Creative Folkstone who are run by the Folkstone Quarterhouse witch is in Tontine Street, down at the bottom of the old high street, left side road. I believe that they have another Antony Gormley in Margate. Did you walk up the old high street. One of my favorited cafe's is called Steep Street, it's is a book cafe. As it used to be a book shop. I hope this has help you get a littlie bit more about Folkstone. 🙂
Hi mate, thanks very much, I was actually in Margate 2 weeks ago and the tide was out, you could see the other Antony Gormley piece top half coming out of the water 😄I’ll defo check out the Steep street cafe next time 👍
@@jackryanmiller Just a head's up to let you know about Steep Street. The annoying thing is there are quite a lot of people like to come in and work and not really buying anything, then it's taking up space. So you might get asked, if you find a table alright.
The train station at the Harbour Arm was in use until 2009 and latterly used to serve passengers on the Orient Express. During WW1 it was called “the gateway to the trenches” and nearly 10 million service people and workers passed through on their way to France. For many it was their last ever time on British soil. Folkestone is steeped in history and there’s a lot more fascinating stuff to explore.
The birds you saw are cormorants.
The artwork is from the Folkestone Triennial and is the biggest public display of artwork in the UK. More is added with each event and worth a visit when it’s happening.

Hi Jack! Folkstone become the first music town back in 2019, it's know for it's people that plays music around in this area and in the town. Yes, that did used to be a train station, the last train that went down to the harbor arm was 2008. In 2018 that when they did up the station up. Through May - September on Friday evenings, they put on a free cinema for people come and watch.

You missed the beach side along the gardern path. Hythe is also has a miniature train which runs from Hythe to Dungeonese.

The harbour arm used to be out of bounds to the public (apart from the walkway used by anglers) but they needed to find other uses for it as there was no prospect of ferries ever returning to Folkestone.

Sadly like alot of seaside towns Folkstone has alot of Brown and white Dealers ( Heroin and cocaine) Dealers & Addicts that line the streets at night Begging to feed their habits.. The police are fighting a losing battle..So it is not all sunshine and roses ..😢😢

Bit dramatic. I've lived in Folkestone all my 53 years and I've never seen addicts "lining the streets". We have our scumbags, like everywhere, but it's not like it's in your face.
The old railway station that is on the harbour arm used to take the soldiers to the boats to go across the chanel to fight in the war!
That is amazing, especially as the shell of it has been left behind but they’ve developed it with bars and food places

Free films and sports on the jumbo screen all throughout the year on the harbour arm, with plenty of food and drink out let's also dj on the beach on Fridays and Saturday.
