Damo has no idea.. And to say those free kicks wont affect the outcome is silly. 24 points were scored over poor umpiring. In a game thats played in the wet and is such an armwrestle in the first half will absolutely squash momentum. A good team like Collingwood can comeback from these types of scenarios, Essendon almost did but their efforts (those 2 HTB frees soon after) were just not rewarded and they just lost composure under frustration. There were Cats fans on their own pages saying how blatantly horrendous the umpiring was for Essendon. It did almost looked 'fixed' in the 3rd, that'show bad it was. Obviously it wasn't but that level of fuckery has to be addressed.
As long as Umpires have the bullcrap backing of Laura Kane they will forever be untouchable. Commentators have a responsibility and they shouldn't be gagged or reprimanded or be scared to lose their job if they DEMAND umpire accountability. Teams will be winning premierships or losing them on the back of an umpire. It's become a pathetic joke.
Umpires aren’t accountable, they should be, however time the AFL looked at some betting sheets. Too many games decided on very dubious frees and bad non paying of frees this year. Some of these games decided by less than a goal, looks good but sooner or later someone is going to spill the beans. Too many umpires on the field for this many bad decisions, some are turning a blind eye deliberately, if not then they should be sacked. Who is this Laura Kane?
Kane is a feminist DEI appointment who is determined to put her woke politics into the AFL. She needs to be sacked! Footy supporters need to start a campaign for her removal and a former male player to be appointed in her position. Dillon is also useless … 🤡😵💀
The exact same deliberate call was made against Richmond in the opening round in a critical moment, changing the momentum of the game aswell. I remember the media saying they weren’t sure either way but if that’s the precedent they’re setting then so be it. I’ve also seen this call made I think 2 other times this year. We may not like it but at least they’re being somewhat consistent with it. And at the end of the day… it is a deliberate tactic.
If you think those decisions don't change games then you have never played the game, I know from playing 15 years of footy that umpiring decisions have a big effect on players. IT gets mentally exhausting to have obvious decisions continually go against you, it's called human nature.
Umpires need to start getting fines and suspensions made public for pathetic performances like this. If only the AFL had a CEO/Boss who knew what they were doing!
In the first half the umpires were inconspicious as they should be but in the 3rd quarter they decided they wanted to stick their stupid heads in the game & it was one of the worst umpiring efforts I've seen in my 56 years
Turn it up. The Draper free was 100% there, but the rest were 50/50 calls. Supporters of every club could find their own examples of those not being paid every week.
Geelong supporter here who DIDNT watch the game. From those examples, all of them were free kicks except the deliberate which I think was a fair call because Menzie clearly didn't want to keep that ball in. I feel for any Essendon supporter as those calls were pretty pathetic.
Why not show all the times Sydney blatantly threw the ball, or every time it was holding the ball? But once again, they only get mad if it's against a Vic team.
These kind of calls happen every game. Why is is suddenly getting so much media scrutiny? I agree it shouldn't happen and it is frustrating but why now?
"Wasn't results shaping" my a**. That third quarter showed the umpiring fraternity is incompetently inconsistent. It's true that Essendon dropped their bundle after the momentum shifted following the string of woeful decisions in the third quarter. But it absolutely had an impact on the momentum of the game and the way the result played out. I can't wait for the AFL's explanation tomorrow. It'll something along the lines of: "Looking at the trajectory of the moon and the sun, physics are responsible for what happens on a football field, therefore the decisions were correct. Don't thank the AFL. Thank the moon's gravitational pull."
Depends on what your definition of 9 metres is I clocked that as deliberate instantly, and I'm a Dons man Having watched through all of the calls in this video. If these are people's main points of contention, I think the game is doing just fine 😊
I agree it was deliberate but he had no where else to go.The two Geelong players had him covered.Consequently, the rule provides a "get out of gaol free card" and deliberate was permitted under the circumstances. The umpires call should have been "rushed behind".
I think everyone's definition of 9 meters is the same. He did deliberately take that ball over the goal line, well picked up on your behalf 😂 That fact is though, that is never a free kick.
@@richardbehan8118 the problem is, 9 metres isn't physically defined on the field. It's always going to be a rough estimate Anyhow, he had the option to kick the ball infield up towards the wing, he chose to concede over the goal line having looked over his shoulder to see both Cats players hanging off him. That's a free kick every day of the week. On to the next round
Literally a rule that allowed u to do that if someone is within a certain distance. There was one with GWS earlier this year, forgot what game and it wasn’t paid

@@carletonclements4931 personally I don't mind the rule. The 2008 GF was definitely why they felt they had to bring it in. And today if you look at how far the man on the mark has to stand back for the kick out, and the player kicking out can just run out of the goal square without kicking it to themselves first, rushing behinds would be every second score. We should go back to 90's rules and allow the game to evolve authentically rather than the AFL forcing so much change. Honestly I don't know why I bother watching anymore.
Become?
Afl journalists, i use that term very loosely are to scared to criticise the afl or umpires
Consistent? Port did against the Saints yesterday and nothing was called.
Umps are dogshit.
The rest were definitely not 50/50. I don't know what game you were watching. Though by your comment I can only assume you didn't watch it.
Geelong supporter here who DIDNT watch the game.
From those examples, all of them were free kicks except the deliberate which I think was a fair call because Menzie clearly didn't want to keep that ball in.
I feel for any Essendon supporter as those calls were pretty pathetic.
The rush behind rule states he can rush it in that instance.
Rushing behinds should be outlawed
Why not show all the times Sydney blatantly threw the ball, or every time it was holding the ball? But once again, they only get mad if it's against a Vic team.
These kind of calls happen every game. Why is is suddenly getting so much media scrutiny? I agree it shouldn't happen and it is frustrating but why now?
Because 5 or 6 horrible decisions were made in as many minutes that resulted in goals.
Broad got pinged for that in opening round, the rush behind
Depends on what your definition of 9 metres is
I clocked that as deliberate instantly, and I'm a Dons man
Having watched through all of the calls in this video.
He did deliberately take that ball over the goal line, well picked up on your behalf 😂
That fact is though, that is never a free kick.
@@richardbehan8118 the problem is, 9 metres isn't physically defined on the field. It's always going to be a rough estimate
Anyhow, he had the option to kick the ball infield up towards the wing, he chose to concede over the goal line having looked over his shoulder to see both Cats players hanging off him. That's a free kick every day of the week. On to the next round
@@danwillreview and he had every right to rush the behind. Stop being stupid on purpose.
Excuses it's plain to see the bombers aren't just good enough a lack of quality players their forwards aren't good enough lack quality
A game over 100 years old and nobody knows the rules. Only in Australia.
Why are they letting Nathan Brown talk football it's an embarrassment to the game 😅
The deliberate was the correct call foe mine but the rest were clearly wrong.
Literally a rule that allowed u to do that if someone is within a certain distance. There was one with GWS earlier this year, forgot what game and it wasn’t paid
Wrong...2 Geelong players putting Menzie under pressure inside the goal square, both players were less than 9 meters away, wrong call by the umpire.
@@justinkassis8273 except that rule doesn't apply if you had "prior" - menzie made a fake baulk and then ran over the line. The option to not rush doesn't have to be a good one it just has to have been possible
I cannot see how it was an arm chop to Draper.. Toohey's arm didn't even touch draper until the contest with the ball in vicinity was finished. I probably would have howled if it was the other way around, but looking at it now.. good contest
Arm chop or front on contact, either way free kick to Draper
That list of teams that Essendon has beaten this year says it all.
Yeh. Teams like Melbourne and Fremantle have lost to WC. Sydney to Richmond. Adelaide beat Carlton in Melbourne. Essendon best WB and GWS that have better more mature lists. They drew with last year's premiers. So yeh, that list says the competition is pretty tight. 🙄
After them getting away with playing Rugby league the week before with the umpires blessing, they shouldn’t be whinging about anything.
One throw by Merritt the week before not seen by umpire is hardly rugby league.
Jayden Daniel’s?? 😂
browny surely isn’t going to be a host in the coming years how does he keep doing this?
Woke afl and umpires have destroyed the game we knew
Damian Barrett is right. That was deliberate. Duh.
Lol it was deliberately rushed, but obviously not a free kick
@@richardbehan8118, you're acting as if my point was "hmmm, what do the A.F.L. say?" rather than "is this a stupid rule?"
@@carletonclements4931 I didn't read it as either of those.
You don't like the rule?
@@richardbehan8118, I don't like half of the rules. My profile picture (T.N.G.) stands for That Negative Guy. :p
It's like the book 1984, it's my 5 minutes of hate.
It is the umpiring and it is THE JOKE OF A DRAW.. AND FIVE DAY BREAKS WHICH ARE RUINING THE GAME.. IN FACT the game is just about stuffed.... Well done AFL which cares all about money. Essendon took their foot of the peddle after half time and why because they have a big game against Collingwood next week... one week teams look great and the next their soft... put simply AFL football is not like what it use to be... it has become money driven to the MAX...
" Essendon took their foot of the peddle after half time and why because they have a big game against Collingwood next week..."
Is the weather nice in your reality?
Sorry Meant NOT singlarly Dons out.
@@markmcdonald9260 That makes your comment even less clear. What the hell are you talking about? The Bombers didn't take their feet off the peddle because they have a big game next week, they were in a big game at that moment. They went into their shells because the umps were robbing them and then leaked goals in the 4th trying to catch up. Your conspiracy theory makes no sense.
Essendon couldn't beat a packet of chips
Geelong players telling umps the rules 😅😅😅😅😅
Umpiring was fine
Sack DEI Laura Kane … 🤡😵💀
Geelong have been getting absolutely screwed by the umpires for nearly 2 months now so to have a few 50/50 calls go our way last night was long overdue. I thought the front on contact and deliberate over the line were fair enough, but some of those incorrect disposal calls were poor. The umpiring sucks every week and is a literal lottery, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
Not 50/50 calls blatantly wrong by the umps in the third (at least 6 calls in 10 minutes) killed the momentum for the Dons and the game.
@@peterscrace3530100%. As an Essendon supporter who was at the game, I tuned out after those free kicks/non free kicks
So good to have a show without TJ. All he does is complain about trivial bs
Essendon still haven’t beat a single good side this season.
I thought the umpiring was Great ! Essendon lost ! Happy days are here again !
It'll teach Draper for being a mouth. They are certainly paying him back for it
some one call the WAAAAAAMULANCE. how many free kicks has the bomber got this year ? +32 ???? f off
Clearly you didn't watch the game flog, get some glasses.
Damien Barrett! You have no credibility whatsoever. An AFL puppet peddling AFL dribble. Grow a spine and start calling out inept umpiring which clearly shapes outcomes.
Where’s my little Essendon bunny
@stevelozevski8151
Surly he’s here to whine about the cheating umpires😂😂
Well I don't barrack for the bombers but that umpiring especially in the 3rd quarter was deplorable.
