Axel Cortez The 650 and the LCD-4 might not be a great comparison. The 650 is a fantastic headphone and one of my favorite general use headphones but the jump to the LCD-4 is still pretty significant in terms of price and audio quality. Also the 650 is just a warm set of cans in general. I can tell a huge difference moving up to the 700’s and then the 800’s or 800S and that is on a much more basic setup than yours. I think the diminishing returns are ironically clearer starting at the HD800 or LCD-4 and then moving up to the Final D8000. I bought the KEF LS50W's for $2000 a few months ago, and I feel "lost" in the music everyday. Everyone is saying it's super expensive, and that you could buy a car for the same price. But, consider that well-made speakers/headphones could very well last you 20+ years or even longer. Laptops & phones are all crippled by Moore's law, you'll have to upgrade every ~4 years or less to not feel left behind. But, sound quality does not change. ONE investment in high end audio equipment gives you the ability to approach music in a more intimate manner for decades to come. So, my overall point is to not look at the upfront cost, but look at the cost over time. From that perspective, high end audio gear is much cheaper than your phone or laptop. And it completely changes the way you listen to music. For me, music is not just something I keep in the background anymore. It's something I pay attention to meticulously in the foreground.
i call bullcrap, i myself am an audio enthusiasts not eliterist, but can tell you this much: 1. audio quality of products does indeed change. Take the old orpheus for example, it still costs 20grand used but is not as good as the newer hd650 2. Take the accessories and mainainance cost into account and suddenly even you long term price seems stupidly high 3. You only hear out the extra details when you are focused on what your hearing. And at that point your doing something wrong because you are not feeling the music. 4. Sound quality is subjectiv and you may not even have the right ears to hear the details with your setup, and since your not constantly A B testing them you will get used to the quality and not get the feeling of supreme audio So do yourself a favor and get some cheapo earbuds, plug them in your phone and enjoy
But....you failed to bring us through the experience ultimately...you attempted to at 1st ...but ended up giving an unbelievably long winded/complex review without actually "reviewing" anything
I have $15 earbuds too check out the "Trn v20" in AliExpress you won't be disappointed all these JBL t110i ain't got shit on these bad boys amazing clarity and bass for the money.
There is a very clean, nice looking 1991 Lexus LS400 for sale should the corner from my house for $2500. It much rather have that Lexus than a pair of headphones
But was it worth it. There's a price point where you can hardly notice any improvements afterwards. Like with smart phones, they use numbers/stats to sell a phone, but people can't if not barely tell the difference between 460ppi and 500ppi.
Thapelo Mokoto you make a good point there I would recommend that you go to a audio convention and listen for your selfe. There is deffinitly a difference between all of them starting with the AKG N90Q and ending at the deffinitly absolute amasing orpheus from sennheiser. But if you can hear the difference depends on you ears and you passion for musik if you don't love musik like I do you would probably hear the difference but not notice it.
Brought an alpha 5 2017 from Samsung when my note 3 died and the thing is fire. 3 gigs of ram 32 internal plus sd card, full HD 5.2 display, fingerprint scanner, full metal and glass 16 megapixel camera front and back and it sports an octocore (4250 geekbench score, an s9 is over 8k) alongside a 3 amp battery. For £250 brand new! Altho if you shop around you might find it for a little less.
Love it...this guy cracks me up...it's like he just had some spiritual trip with the dalai lama and wants to sound down to earth explaining it...but can't. Love it...keep the videos coming...you're an entertaining dude!
Leon Rivia ...and then playing them on a OTL amplifier like the Darkvoice. Even noob audiophiles know that OTL tube amps and Planar headphones usually don't mix well.
Lew is using all this because those headphones will not be your everyday headphones that you use with your phone. These are more for studio professional work.
@@highpineapple Well the thing is it's not necessary for everyone to be good at English cause it's just freaking language nothing more than that. Dumbshits like you irritate me alot
The leap from cheap/mainstream headsets to audiophile grade ~$300 headsets is a leap people must experience. However, the difference beyond that is minimal. The problem is, once you get used to sound in that range, it takes more and more money to make you feel like that $300 headset made you feel. You just get used to quality sound, and then all you can do is notice the problems in lesser headsets while being unable to truely enjoy the improvement you get with quality gear. It is depressing.
No you wouldn't. After listening to those and realizing what proper sound quality is, you would listen to more. You would have a new hobby. You have no idea what Lou just experienced.... :) massive endorphin dump got him good.
Company from Japan: * *claims to make the greatest headphones ever* * Sennheiser: * *laughs in HE 1* * For real though, I dream that one day Lou will get his hands on the Orpheus and review them. Pretty much the Rolls Royce of the high-end headphones market globally.
That's one hell of a claim they make for sure :) Orpheus is definitely up there but not perfect and not a good fit for everyone or every music. You also have to plug it in to a far better amp then it came with at its original $15k price to really hear it at its best. Yes heard it with a ~ $15k amp / source and I own the baby Orpheus with Woo Audio GES tube amp besides a number of other setups. It's awesome for sure alhough for my preference there are better setups.
@@dariusf2 yeah i guess when it comes to audio to each there will always be their own, as different ears hear differently. But IMO nothing beats the feeling of luxury and nothing says "high-end" quite like the HE 1. That marble box is just too pretty.
John David you should get urself a listening chance before saying that. After having that kind of experience (not necessarily a $4k headphone, just a $600 perhaps, with proper amplification and a good DAC). I know a lot of people think buying those headphones and amplifiers and DACs and DAPs are throwing money out of the window. But which hobby does not cost? They’re enjoying themselves and enjoying getting, trying the equipment, hearing 1 song you’ve know for so long changing so much through different setup, just to love that song again... In short, I just think you should try it before talking, cuz there’re reasons for everything to exist. They even make $50,000 headphones and there’re people who buy it!
I know this is jokes but when u get an amp connected to anything it makes the quality jump 10 x. Buy some studio headphones for like 150-200 with an amp and u will be really happy at the differences.
Focal Utopia are pretty great headphones, but they didn't stand up against the Audeze LCD-4, which are probably the best well rounded cans within this price range.
Noble Varghese you can hear god through the €50000 Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1 :) Through these and similar (Stax SR-009/Focal Utopia) you hear the music like it is live in a studio played exclusively for you, with a perfect recording. You won't miss a single string or breathe by the vocalist. Everything is crystal clear and vivid with absolute realism ir atleast the company's flavour of sound which can be realistic or slightly tuned towards certain frequencies. Either way the sound should be mesmerizing at this price. I will own a pair of Stax or similar someday but I don't think I could afford the Orpheus hehe

Eric Dahl best bang for the buck in audio, by far.
exactly bro
Eric Dahl At this moment I'm torn between LS50 and Swans MkII.
Did anybody compare those 2 closely?
MFHRaptor LS50s
i call bullcrap, i myself am an audio enthusiasts not eliterist, but can tell you this much:
1. audio quality of products does indeed change. Take the old orpheus for example, it still costs 20grand used but is not as good as the newer hd650
2. Take the accessories and mainainance cost into account and suddenly even you long term price seems stupidly high
3. You only hear out the extra details when you are focused on what your hearing. And at that point your doing something wrong because you are not feeling the music.
4. Sound quality is subjectiv and you may not even have the right ears to hear the details with your setup, and since your not constantly A B testing them you will get used to the quality and not get the feeling of supreme audio
So do yourself a favor and get some cheapo earbuds, plug them in your phone and enjoy
But....you failed to bring us through the experience ultimately...you attempted to at 1st ...but ended up giving an unbelievably long winded/complex review without actually "reviewing" anything
Agree
The big issue with high end audio is that you can't actually review them beyond spec, it's all about emotion a this price point.
True that
cuz chances are you will never even buy this.. ever..
He is an unboxed, he just unboxes stuff

Dapper Dop you could buy mine for the price I bought it twice and a full tank of gas for both.
A fully working car? Or like just a chassis sitting on blocks?
There is a very clean, nice looking 1991 Lexus LS400 for sale should the corner from my house for $2500. It much rather have that Lexus than a pair of headphones
Not one you can actually use for more than work or something though
For 3800 dollars they better have blown your mind away

Lossless music on an LG V30 and Sennheiser HDs was also incredible.
So you can't plug it into your phone?
indranil chaudhuri The real question
I think we can but it would be pointless ig. It would get enough power/juice to get it's full potential
Would not
No, the phone can't drive them
крапива a LG V35 or LG G7 or Axon 7 might be able to
But was it worth it.
But if you can hear the difference depends on you ears and you passion for musik if you don't love musik like I do you would probably hear the difference but not notice it.
get out of here you idiot trying to justify your stupid purchases
Brought an alpha 5 2017 from Samsung when my note 3 died and the thing is fire. 3 gigs of ram 32 internal plus sd card, full HD 5.2 display, fingerprint scanner, full metal and glass 16 megapixel camera front and back and it sports an octocore (4250 geekbench score, an s9 is over 8k) alongside a 3 amp battery. For £250 brand new! Altho if you shop around you might find it for a little less.
of course it worth the money
If you understand how and are willing to train your ears, yes, you can notice improvements.

The Headphones are so brain damaging, Lew said some strange sht out of nowhere in the last few minutes.
Ma boi lew claiming he audiophile while most of the time he judges quality on soundcloud where every song is on 128kbps smh
Leon Rivia ...and then playing them on a OTL amplifier like the Darkvoice. Even noob audiophiles know that OTL tube amps and Planar headphones usually don't mix well.
Leon Rivia, you will hear the difference between headphones even on 128k
Leon Rivia Is Then where should he judge quality.
And I'm over here enjoying stock ipod ear buds cause they comfy
Lew is using all this because those headphones will not be your everyday headphones that you use with your phone. These are more for studio professional work.
I got an ad of you unboxing the OnePlus 6
I got Gary Vee's anchor ad. Where is this data coming from?😁😀

Perfect Gohan oh shut up you’re the same
The leap from cheap/mainstream headsets to audiophile grade ~$300 headsets is a leap people must experience.
Richard Smith finally some good comment mate!

No it's not sandstorm. Assholes just say that to act cool despite the fact that they've done it to death for the last ten years if not more...
I remember when he unboxed that vinyl on his channel
And what if you don’t have a headphone jack?
You then realize you no longer have a device designed to play high quality audio on it's own without an external DAC.
What a fucking waste of money then
you plug them into your headphone amplifier
And what if you don’t have a headphone, jack!
Then you just wasted 4 grand on shit for then realising you are stupid

Company from Japan: * *claims to make the greatest headphones ever* *
Sennheiser: * *laughs in HE 1* *
For real though, I dream that one day Lou will get his hands on the Orpheus and review them.
Looks more like unit 329. Get your facts right man!
Calm down he just read a number wrong haha
For that money you can probably also get new ears... 💵

Gotta say, this is my favorite video from you. Fuck the headphones, that little moment at the end was incredible.
Even $4000 headphones don't compare to the impressive sound quality from my included earbuds with my phone.
They even make $50,000 headphones and there’re people who buy it!
the samsung galaxy ones?
i know what you mean bro
I know this is jokes but when u get an amp connected to anything it makes the quality jump 10 x. Buy some studio headphones for like 150-200 with an amp and u will be really happy at the differences.
VN Rays and the joke flew sky high above you.
Chill out bro it was sarcasm. I do have a Sennheiser Open Back and a tube amp each costing pretty much more than $3799 lol.

Focal Utopia are pretty great headphones, but they didn't stand up against the Audeze LCD-4, which are probably the best well rounded cans within this price range.

When the sounds is too good, you learn lessons
You read 323 but it was 329 xD
With £3000 I should be able to hear God through these headphones. >:/
Noble Varghese you can hear god through the €50000 Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1 :)
Through these and similar (Stax SR-009/Focal Utopia) you hear the music like it is live in a studio played exclusively for you, with a perfect recording.
It's not that smart to use cables that cost 50 cents, in a music center that costs 5000 dollars!
magnus fransson I also noticed that he used the cheapest interconnects possible
You scared the hell out of me, having a heart attack BEFORE you unpack the headphones.
