Don’t know about the complete headlights, but I have two pairs of the Morimoto MLED 2.0 projectors (I pair for each side) in my 1997 Acura Integra Type R replica build. I had to retrofit them in myself and used laser pointers and a 3D printed bracket to align them all lol. But it worked out great and I figured since many of those Morimoto Headlights have 2, 3, and 4 projectors per side, that I could do it without the light being overkill. And I am so glad I did. Now even without the fog lights I have an amazing time driving and seeing at night. I’d the optics are at all similar to the ones I have which I believe they are similar designs. Then you have some absolutely amazing headlight output. I had a few people tell me that when I was coming down their street pulling up to their house that they thought it was a much newer car since the lights looked just like new cars lights. And they said they saw colors ranging from purple to blue to yellows and pinks and reds when the cutoff bounced high enough to reach their eyes but didn’t blind them at all. So Morimoto makes some absolutely amazing lights as far as the engineering and cars that goes into controlled light. Which allows you to have the most usable light on the road without upsetting everyone around you in the road by blinding them.
Just got myself a 06 about a month ago and have been reading the threads and watching the videos and just havent been able to make up my mind, so your timing is impeccable!
I don't like reading comments lol its like consoles wars (Sony vs Microsoft) except its morimoto vs alpharex. I've ran both the Morimoto Xb and Novas. I give the slight edge to Novas. In my honest opinion the morimoto only throw about 10 yards or so further on low beam, which isn't much. I love both lights but I'd rather see into the ditch for wildlife then 10 yards further up the road.
Glad you mentioned how you had them aimed at 13:09. I see a lot of guys throwing all three of these headlight options in their truck and they have them aimed sky high; which is somewhat misleading anytime they report the performance. Great non-biased and comprehensive review!
I didn’t show it in the video, but all three were aimed to the same legal specs, which is lower than I’d normally run them. I wanted to make it fair though!
If you follow the exact rules, it’s about 3.5” off the ground when parked 25 feet from a wall. If it’s how I personally set my lights, I just park behind my wife’s car on level ground and make sure I’m not completely blinding her mirrors at normal driving distance haha.
Great review Andrew! I had just placed an order two days ago and this video popped up. I was kinda dreading what your results showed and if I had made the wrong decision. I have watched a number of reviews and your side by side comparison as to the differences was more valuable than the actual light data provided from other reviews. Being an engineer, I am almost always driven by the data. In this case, your video (data) showing the strengths and weaknesses of both the single vs triple projector was the defining difference of which lights I prefer. For me, having the more filled in light on the sides is what I prefer. Thanks again, and keep up the great vids!
Solid review. I've got the Luxx in my '07 Ram. I've had them for a couple years now. I love the features but wish they had better light output in my honest opinion. I have to use my led fog lights in conjunction with them. Adjusting the lights is definately a hassle but once you get it right then you ahouldn't have to mess with them again.
From looking at the video Morimoto looks like it has the best throw and the light where you want it while driving. The luxx isn't far behind though. It's light is focused brighter closer to the truck. Thanks for making this comparison!
Don't have the morimoto for the 2003 ram😭😭 but they still have the novas which am glad I can be able to see at night.. they are a grand but worth it... Plan to get them because I plan to take the truck to Mexico.. in the near future... Has held up crazy . Plan to get it painted in Mexico.. leather seats. Lifted truck and all.. and has a led cross bar on top.. replace all the windows with ceramic all the way..
And while that is true, it's all a matter of what your eye likes. Mine likes the more full light pattern in the beam rather than just the focused beam of the single projector. I had the Luxx series for nearly five years in my 05 dodge ram 2500 5.9cummins, and there were more than enough times I wished I had more fill light in the beam and more spread with and a little more throw. Now, with my 06, I just purchased the novas after having talked with Alpharex for over an hour, and they said that not only would I get the brightness, but I would also get the fuller beam with the wider spread and a good throw down the road. I did ask Alpharex why they didn't put the Osram led chips in the luxx series or a comparable brand like philips or something, and they said it would just make the headlights more expensive (I dunno about that, I think they could've partnered with GTR or something but regardless, the luxx series headlights aren't anything to sneeze at either).
A friend of mine has a truck with the Lux lights and wow. 4 years ago I was okay with OEM lights and LED bulbs but there were no options like these available then. I drove that truck at night for hours on a road trip and honestly they were better than anything else I have personally experienced.
Great timing and nice review. Good to know there is a Morimoto option available now. I am pretty sure the bull bar on my bumper will block the beam which is an issue since Morimoto moved the projector farther outward compared to the center position of the factory headlight. I retrofitted Morimoto HID projectors into my 2006 but considered the LED projectors since my ballast had issues but the bull bar is a real concern since it already blocks the width of the beam with the center position of the projector.
I ran a set of the novas on my 4th gen, I only had them on the truck for about a month and had to take them off, WAY too much foreground light, it totally killed my distance vision, narrow beam pattern and the high beam made me feel like I was in a tunnel, I ended up retrofitting a set of stock lights with the morimoto mled 2.0 projectors and was much happier with the output.
Morimoto if you want top dog for legit output down the road. The alpha keeps the foreground bright and loosing steam short. Plus the brightness in the foreground makes it harder for your eyes to adjust down road. If you want more info go to headlight revolution. They do drone footage and lux rating with down road output.
I actually like the review. Really unbiased of all three and more on what the customer is wanting and needing from their headlights based on facts. One thing I'd like to point out is the this varies greatly depending on your vehicle's year and make. Those of us with the Dodge ram 3rd gens (2002 - 2005) don't -at at this moment- have the option for the Morimoto projector headlights unless someone builds them then sells which will cost an arm and a leg. So we only have the Alpharex Luxx a d Nova series to choose from. But other than that, great video. I myself did the Luxx series and I'm pretty satisfied for the time being but have to say, aim one Luxx headlight correctly (the first passenger headlight was defective, Alpharex replaced it,) and one alone will blow the majority of oem -even new ones- clean out of the water.
The Alpha Rex Luxx is my choice for my 06' 3rd Gen Mega Cab. I like to keep that amber turn lower light and I prefer the switch back feature of the amber lighting. I have a pair of aftermarket headlamps I have held onto since purchase for 5 years. They are still in the box with plug and play wiring. They have the black bezel of which I like. And they came pre-equipped with hallo LED lighting on both low beam and high beam. But the Halo LED rings appear outdated vs those that are available today. Plus, I had bought from Morimoto a set of Projector Lenses to install in this set of headlamps. I have never installed them as yet since I am not a fan of ripping open the lens only to reseal it again. But I have the correct Morimoto sealant. I am at a crossroads now, as I like the Alpha Rex Luxx over what I have purchased previously, but never installed. If anyone is interested in my still new headlamp set as described, I will consider selling that set. Thank you.
Really a fantastic review man I mean seriously I’ve been hungry for a direct comparison of the Luxx and Nova , and I mean one that clearly isn’t biased like some other channels out there that are starting to become more of a damn comercial and being so enthusiastic about whatever it is they’re trying to push your bloody annoying. Personally I’ve got an 07 Powerstroke but the lights themselves are very closely built as far as Nova vs Luxx and well unless I want to build myse;f a custom set or go pay someone way to much money there’s no Morimoto option or any other option other than Amazon junk out there for me to choose from. When AlphRex decided to break the norm and came out with what seemed to look like an actual QUALITY option for us 05-07 or even the 99-04 guys who can fit 05-07 with a very simple minor mod it was basically hurry up and take my money until I couldn’t decide between the 3 different options. Glad I caught this and also your voice is very soothing the way you speaks being very clear and concise is so easy to follow. You give all the facts answering every single question that has popped up in my head and even a few that I was pleased to find out so I thank you! New subscriber after this and I look forward to checking out the rest of your stuff even if it’s Dodge or Cummins catered I’m sure there will be plenty enough that I’ll be entertained truck diesel that’s hit the 2 marks I look for. Lol
Thanks for the support and glad I could help! I’ve got a 97 OBS 7.3 that will be on the channel more soon too. My recommendation: go with the Novas. They’re definitely a decent step up!
You can adjust the low beams on the Alpharex Luxx with them in the truck. Pretty easy actually, done it a few times. I’ve had no issues in the nearly 3 years I’ve had these lights in my 08 Ram 3500
Also, while I don’t have the Morimoto headlights (personal preference, I like the Luxx better and the price is much more reasonable) I do have Morimoto fog lights. The two together are pretty legit. Wish Alpharex would make a fog light for these trucks but oh well
Great vid. Morimoto it will be for my ‘07. Styling looks better to me, more OE. Although the other two don’t look as bad on a truck as they do by themselves
I have to say alpharex came into their own, My first launch they were basically making cheap knockoff OEM looking lights, but they've really turned it around.
Another great review/comparison, thank you! Any info on which housing holds up better to sun fading? My OEM have completely faded out on top and was wondering if the plastic housings are better than than the OEM?
Great comparison video thank you! I am looking at the Lux for my 16 ram 1500 Laramie as the stock projectors just not bright enough.. plus the 5th gen look is pretty sweet
Since I have an '03 2500 I was somewhat limited on lights. I had installed a set of OEM lights new in 2018 to replace the aftermarket junk the seller had installed. The lights were simply not good enough. I'll be 69 soon and need all the light I can get but don't want to be blinding the other drivers. I settled on the AlphaRex Nova after seeing your videos. I am quite happy with them, EXCEPT for one thing. the "amber reflectors" in the fixtures, that DOT requires, are actually NOT reflectors. Back off at night and shine a light on them from 50 or a 100 feet and the OEM ones light up and reflect perfectly, the AlphaRex ones have ZERO reflecting qualities. I added round Grote reflectors (tape) on the ends of the bumpers for my own safety but BOT rules require the lights to be as good as the original without any supplemental equipment. I really like the lights, don't get me wrong, but the reply from AlphaRex to my email was not encouraging, When you spend a grand on something, you want it to be right.
Thanks for this review! I think I prefer the look of the Alpharex headlights over the Morimoto. Not sure if it is worth the extra $400 to get the Nova over the Luxx, but I haven’t experienced them in person either.
Great video as usual but a couple questions…I didn’t notice the alphaRex nova brights? When are the brights on compare to the morimoto (which was very clear when they went)? Also, for adjustment, you mentioned in the video you could adjust them higher but what did you use as a guide for adjustment?? The stock lights have the one screw in or out for low to high. Do the new these not have that adjustment which is why you have to take them out and in to adjust?? Thanks again for great content!
The Nova brights are the 4th projector our of the three, so it isn’t quite as pronounced as the Morimotos where you have a single projector with the cut off line opening up. Both are plenty bright, and it’s really just a difference in single vs quad projector. Sadly it’s hard to film! As for a guide, I followed standard aiming procedure which is parking about 25 feet from a wall and then aiming the cut off about 3.5 feet from the ground. Super conservative but figured that would make it fair. I usually run mine as high as I can without blinding cars lol As for adjustment, sadly unlike the stock lights where the adjustment screw is right up front, these are in the back of the housing. It kinda sucks, but you have to remove the light, make adjustments, pop it back into the fender, and repeat until they’re aligned.
You don’t have to remove the headlight to adjust the beam for the XB Morimoto, a long shank Philips and you can reach it from under your truck, the adjustment screw has a side gear which works well with the Phillip’s. The light output by the way is insane! Best headlights hands down👍 Put them in my 09’ 3500. Huge wow factor.
Honestly, the Alpharex seems to just throw a bunch of light everywhere.. it’s looks like it has a brighter foreground which can be disorienting.. Morimoto is definitely more focused and cleaner.. I’ve been torn between the 2 for awhile now for my 5th Gen.. I’d like to see a video like this for the 5th Gen Rams.. Alpharex Luxx and Nova vs Morimoto XB and XB hybrid.. been looking at these options for 6months now.. lol The OEM halogens leave a lot to be desired.. great video!! But it didn’t help me make up my mind 😂
I assume you mean OEM projector LEDs? They require a different wire harness and AlfaOBD to program.. they are also quite expensive.. the OEM LED reflectors still need alfaOBD to change the ECM for them to work.. been looking into this option as well
Not the OEM reflector LED headlights! They’re such a let down. Every option from Alpha Rex and Morimoto puts out more focused and direct light except the Pro series Alphas. Those suck haha.
@@JustDiesels The OEM projectors (not reflectors) are probably the best option. I’ve been bouncing between the XB hybrids or the Luxx.. The Luxx have been tempting me because of the optional amber DRL and the overall looks.. however I’d really like to see how the Luxx for 5th gens perform. Beam pattern etc.. do they use Osram? Based on your video they looked decent but it’s hard to capture real world lighting on camera.. wonder if you have to remove them to adjust.. that’s almost a dealbreaker.. thanks for the videos great content
Hi man Great video and content as always. I do have a question, though. I'm needing to redo my lighting package on my 03, and also need new foglights on my 07.5. What foglights are you running? I know this video is over a year old, but I'm hoping I'll get a reply. Thank you
Great content!! I’ve got a 2006 mega cab with a set of alpha Rex novas that were in it when I bought it. They are great headlights no doubt. I’ve got another 2006 that is a quad cab. I’m thinking about trying the morimoto’s just to try something different. I love the Novas I have but I also think I’ll really like the focused light out put of the morimotos. I can’t remember what channel it was but there’s another TH-cam channel, an actual dealer that sells both lights, that did a review including a lumen meter test. Both the nova and morimoto performed well but the morimoto light output on the lumen meter was higher. I think you can’t lose with either one though really.
@@bradleylillard3656 not sure on an 08, but they the DRL wasn’t totally plug and play on my 06. It was easy to set up but if I recall correctly, you had to run one small wire to power. I didn’t actually wire mine for DRLs, but because I didn’t really want them. So I don’t know exactly how hard it would be but the directions I remember seemed pretty simple.
I have alpha rex pro series on my 06 rn and hate it every time I drive at night. Minimal visual at night with too much foreground, light lighting closer bottom bumper as there were fog lights.
Headlight Revolution channel also has a good review that can supplement the info here. They measured the Alpharex Nova at 480 lux low beam / 840 lux high beam vs the Morimoto XB at 850 lux low beam/ 960 lux high beam. In actual use in your video, they look a lot closer than the measurements would suggest.
Another awesome video… I just purchased the morimoto lights for my 3rd gen however, can you do a how to adjustment video I am having troubles adjusting the lights to specs. I’m having on coming vehicles flashing there high beams at me I just can’t get them low enough. Also I do have a front leveling lift kit on 295/17 which makes my truck a little higher then stock? Thanks
The general rule of thumb is to park 25 feet from a wall, and the cutoff line should only be 3.5’ above the ground. I usually push it a little higher than that though.
The one thing i did notice from the Luxx that i had in my 05 dodge ram 2500 cummins is the top and bottom light bars did the sequential start up in amber and sequential turn. So i dunno if its the same with 06 trucks, as Im getting a 06 dodge ram 2500 cummins since my 05 got totalled here recently in a rear end collision (I got rear ended, the toyota camry got obliterated).
Price difference from lux to nova is fairly steep. Do you feel the nova is worth the $400 increase? Needing it for my 04 Ram already have baja fogs which is amazing but now can’t stand stock headlights. Thanks for your great videos!
Hey Andrew, great content. There is one thing that you could have included...you didn't address hyperflashing that happens on 3rd gens when going to LEDs lights. I purchased the Nova series from CJC and love them...yet wasn't anticipating hyperflash. I would think with for over 1000+$ this would not be an issue.
@@JustDiesels I purchased a set of recon tail lights with the Alpharex nova and there's definitely hyperflash. Very disappointed. I also installed the same Recon tail lights and they too induced a hyperflash.
I have the alpha Rex Luxx in my 3rd gen 09 2500. It is decent. It's comparable to a newer ram headlamp in brightness but no way brighter. With that being said spend the extra and get the nova or Moris. And do not...I repeat do not use LEDs in the stock 4th gen halogen housing. The scatter is bad and I have it at 90 deg and pointed at the ground and it still blinds me if I'm driving in front of my wife in the 3500.
In my experience they are all plug and play on 99% of trucks, but some need an anti flicker harness with Morimoto. They provide that for free if it's an issue.
Hi I have a 2006 1500 mega cab would like to have my shocks replaced but there so many different opinions and want to get your input for a truck that I'll be using for light work and use no towing.
Morimoto really did a nice job....but the Nova, to me, just looks better, both in appearance and light output. The Nova seemed very bright like Mori, but also seemed slightly more natural and soft, if that makes sense. I ordered mine a long time ago for my 03 and am just getting them on now. Do you know if I need that extra wire bundle you talked about? Great review!
I have the Alpha Rex Nova Series for my ‘08 Ram. In my experience, the look nice and are very bright, but they DO NOT LAST!!! Mine quit after about a year and the manufacturer would do nothing about it. Their customer service is terrible, seldom returning emails or texts and ultimately gave me the run around and did not honor the warranty. I ended up taking it apart myself and found that the internal wiring was too small and melted at 2 connectors. I liked the way they looked, but they’re not built good.
Any chance you could compare the GTR lighting ultra 2 led bulbs in the stock housing. My thoughts have been Alpharex, Morimoto, or GTR lighting bulbs. GTR bulbs would be the cheapest by far, but how much worse would the light output be? Thanks!
It’s not even close. That’s actually a great idea though as many people do it. Long story short, putting an LED in the stock housing results in scattered blinding light since the two were never designed for each-other. Putting on a quality LED projector gives you the hyper focused light you see in these videos. I have LEDs in my TDI vw and it’s bright but super scattered.
Andrew is bought these morimoto lights and when i use the factory plugs the driver side works just fine but the passenger side the lower led strip and side marker led will not come on. I didn’t hook up that fuseable link is that my issue? Or is it a problem with the light?
I upgraded my stock headlights on my 06 Dodge Ram 3500 Duelly with Morimoto XB but had issues adjusting the height (you could only turn the adjustment screw 3 times max) could not get it to move, called and they replaced them and still does not equal with the other side…did you have an issue? Is this normal having passenger side lower than driver side?
Zero issues with mine so it sounds like maybe something went wrong with your install? The Driver’s side should be lower than the passenger with a stepped cut off like shown in the video. The Morimotos were actually easier to adjust than Alpha Rex.
I would have done the Pro's with HID's and tossed them in the mix. They would win but the signal and DRL is too weak to makes any sense. Stock sport (blk) projectors (4gen) with HID's beats all these for brightness and distance. JS.
No sense to. You can’t put the rear seal caps on the housings with them, so they’d just fill with water and dust. Why cheap out when there’s a better turn key option?
My buddy got the Nova’s on his 2014 Ram 3500 and I gotta say the light output was crap. I have a S.V-4 led bulbs in my oem headlights for my F250 and the light is brighter and shoots further. His lights look cool, but has less performance than my $180 bulbs but he spent $1200. Really disappointing, because I’ve seen many videos of these headlights looking bright but it must be the camera over exposing the light because in person they ain’t that great. Personally I will be doing a Retrofit with a MLED 2.0 Bi-Led as they are significantly brighter than these AlphaRex or XB headlights.
I have Alpha Rex Nova on my GMC I had one stop working after a week, they sent a new one and that one is broken inside. They sent another one to replace the broken one and now that one hyper flashes for some reason. I took one apart and it looks very cheap inside, cheap looking Chinese circuit boards.
Do not buy from alpha Rex. I paid like 900$ and they got fogged up etc. Any season they always fog up. I tried airing them out etc but nothing works. And alpha Rex won’t help. They keep replying to me by “ ohh did you install them in moist weather? Did you try air them out?” Always same excuses. I would not recommend AlphaRex.
It does say it in the title lol. But honestly the information is pretty much the same for both years. Light output is similar and it just comes down to looks and features.

Wish Alpharex would make a fog light for these trucks but oh well
@@thelifeofjessejamesthey do and tbh I think they are better than the morimoto. Dual color option is very nice.
Great vid. Morimoto it will be for my ‘07. Styling looks better to me, more OE. Although the other two don’t look as bad on a truck as they do by themselves
Great review. Very thorough analysis of features and characteristics. 👍
I have to say alpharex came into their own, My first launch they were basically making cheap knockoff OEM looking lights, but they've really turned it around.
Is the lens made of alot better material than stock? The stock ones scratch up so bad in 1 year.
Commenting for support
I usually run mine as high as I can without blinding cars lol
As for adjustment, sadly unlike the stock lights where the adjustment screw is right up front, these are in the back of the housing.
Andrew - Thanks for such a well-done video. VERY helpful to me.
If you can get your hands on the OEM 5th Gen LED's, you'll probably have better output than all of the options!
Stock Halogen projectors with HID's are amazing. Tried the mori's and its half the throw.
How are the headlights holding up. Morimoto, Alpharex Nova. Any peeling if clearcut, etc.... thanks
great video! I need some new headlights and now I've got some great recommendations
I think the equality of the light outputs might be due to both reaching the legal limit of allowable output.
Hi man
Great video and content as always. I do have a question, though.
I'm needing to redo my lighting package on my 03, and also need new foglights on my 07.5. What foglights are you running? I know this video is over a year old, but I'm hoping I'll get a reply. Thank you
I have an 04 and was contemplating doing the 06 front clip to be able to get the morimoto but seeing this I'll probably get the nova series for the 04
I want the intensity and cutoff line from the morimotos but the look and features of the Alpha rex
Alpharexx has more foreground light.
Morimoto has more distance vision.
Morimot ftw
I have an 08 quad cab (1/2 ton) and just bought the Novas, are they plug and play as far as the drl goes?
@@bradleylillard3656 not sure on an 08, but they the DRL wasn’t totally plug and play on my 06. It was easy to set up but if I recall correctly, you had to run one small wire to power. I didn’t actually wire mine for DRLs, but because I didn’t really want them. So I don’t know exactly how hard it would be but the directions I remember seemed pretty simple.
Great review thanks, I'm thinking I like the Alpha Rex.
Oh this is a great video!!!! Thank you so much!
Hey 👋🏼, nice videos dude, what Cain of gray color you use in the 3rd gen ram ?
Which is best quality and long time? Morimoto or alpharex? Xb Haybird or alpharex luxx headlights? Looking you reply appreciated.
I wish these headlights were out when I bought my Bighorn in 2008.
Question - Is what you call Morimoto actually the Lux, and vice-Versace
Also I do have a front leveling lift kit on 295/17 which makes my truck a little higher
then stock? Thanks
The general rule of thumb is to park 25 feet from a wall, and the cutoff line should only be 3.5’ above the ground. I usually push it a little higher than that though.
The smoked housing in the Alpha Rex Nova on your silver truck make it look very 5th gen'ish. I've got to compare the options for my 04.
Watching this after I bought the Alpha Rex pro 😅 I guess we'll see how good they are
So if I get the pro ( cheaper ) I won’t be able to run a nice quality HID kit for both high and low beam ?
You can, but the projector lens is kinda crappy, and the rear caps won’t fit so the lights are open. You spend less and get more just buying the Luxx.
Price difference from lux to nova is fairly steep. Do you feel the nova is worth the $400 increase? Needing it for my 04 Ram already have baja fogs which is amazing but now can’t stand stock headlights. Thanks for your great videos!
I personally do, but the Luxx is still a huge jump from stock so that’s really all you need if you already have Baja Designs fogs!
@@JustDiesels that’s what I thought as well. I purchased the Luxx this week. Thanks for the detailed video!
There should be no hyperflash if installed correctly. These lights are 100% plug and play.
@@JustDiesels I purchased a set of recon tail lights with the Alpharex nova and there's definitely hyperflash. Very disappointed.
I also installed the same Recon tail lights and they too induced a hyperflash.
I have a second Gen and I was wondering if there are options like this out there for them?
I have the alpha Rex Luxx in my 3rd gen 09 2500. It is decent. It's comparable to a newer ram headlamp in brightness but no way brighter. With that being said spend the extra and get the nova or Moris. And do not...I repeat do not use LEDs in the stock 4th gen halogen housing. The scatter is bad and I have it at 90 deg and pointed at the ground and it still blinds me if I'm driving in front of my wife in the 3500.
What bronze wheels are on the truck?
Do you need to install a anti-flicker harness with these or are they all bolted ready to work?
In my experience they are all plug and play on 99% of trucks, but some need an anti flicker harness with Morimoto. They provide that for free if it's an issue.
Hi I have a 2006 1500 mega cab would like to have my shocks replaced but there so many different opinions and want to get your input for a truck that I'll be using for light work and use no towing.
These headlights are looking great. How about warranties on these headlights?
Thanks
Morimoto offers a 5 year warranty and Alpha Rex offers a 2 year warranty.
@@JustDiesels Great Thanks
Morimoto seems better and better color.
Couldn't pay me to run the Moris! Novas look wayyyy better!!
For an 03 you will need to run the fuse tap, since there’s no running light factory on the older 03-05 trucks. Should be simple enough!
@@JustDiesels I haven't opened the box yet. Does this wire come with the light? Thanks, I am binging your videos!
Yeah! It will be in the box. It looks confusing when you first pull it out, but it only goes together one way so it makes sense pretty quickly.
Do you have any recommendations regarding lighting options for a 2nd gen?
Hold tight as it sounds like there’s some options coming…
@@JustDiesels Thanks! So is the viewing distance a lot worse in your vw? I really need to make my mind up since alpharex is 15% off right now.
Andrew is bought these morimoto lights and when i use the factory plugs the driver side works just fine but the passenger side the lower led strip and side marker led will not come on. I didn’t hook up that fuseable link is that my issue? Or is it a problem with the light?
Yeah you need the fuse tap unless you have an 06 with the connectors to plug it in at the light
Do these flicker ? On the dash
No they do not
Wish you did like for like comparison (alpha Rex nova and Morimoto XB *not LUX*) to give a better and equal review.
Wait this was like for like. I did Alpha rex Nova vs morimoto.
Morimotto has a 5 year warranty. That makes that decision a no brainer.
Wished there was as much lighting options for the 2nd gens…
I heard Alpha Rex has second gen options coming!
I really really really hope so
I upgraded my stock headlights on my 06 Dodge Ram 3500 Duelly with Morimoto XB but had issues adjusting the height (you could only turn the adjustment screw 3 times max) could not get it to move, called and they replaced them and still does not equal with the other side…did you have an issue? Is this normal having passenger side lower than driver side?
Zero issues with mine so it sounds like maybe something went wrong with your install? The Driver’s side should be lower than the passenger with a stepped cut off like shown in the video. The Morimotos were actually easier to adjust than Alpha Rex.
@@JustDiesels thank you I appreciate you responding…it’s my passenger side that is lower than my drivers side
Double check everything on your install. Maybe they aren’t sitting correctly in the fender?
I would have done the Pro's with HID's and tossed them in the mix. They would win but the signal and DRL is too weak to makes any sense. Stock sport (blk) projectors (4gen) with HID's beats all these for brightness and distance. JS.
No sense to. You can’t put the rear seal caps on the housings with them, so they’d just fill with water and dust. Why cheap out when there’s a better turn key option?
@@JustDieselswhat housings are you saying dont seal stock or the pro?
How come u guys r driving at night on the street that has to many lights? 😂 bro that street is all bright, we wanna see those lights on a dark road
unless you drive a silverado. then the alpharex dropped the ball on design... morimoto will be my choice. once i can swallow the price haha
Recommendation break the video timeline down so people can skip properly to each section
It is! Click the time stamps in the description or the chapters youtube shows based on those.
if only they made these for 2nd gens... Contacted Alpha Rex and they only do 3rd gens and up. Like WTH?
That’s going to change from what I’ve heard….
@@JustDiesels I really hope so!
If I have a spare $1k the headlights are very cool but I’m putting my money in the motor sorry fellas I’m not trying to be an a-hole
You should do a giveaway
Not worth almost $1200
Ugggggh!!!! 3rd gen!!! 🤦🏿♂️
Here I am thinking he's doing a 19-22 Ram.... but NOOOOO he out here doing 3rd gen. I was let down greatly here
It does say it in the title lol. But honestly the information is pretty much the same for both years. Light output is similar and it just comes down to looks and features.
And yet, the video thumbnail is 3rd gens. I’m certain your mother is greatly let down every time you speak…
3rd gens rule. No emissions, ease in maintenance, and good fuel mileage.
