Sometimes you forget how the knight moves, sometimes you forget how the queen moves, and it is so embarassing that you don't ask anyone and pretend you know what you are doing and hope nobody asks about it. After this game Magnus googled how the queen moves and then went on to become the world champion.
Magnus' coach back then told him to never bring the queen out too early. So he took that to the next level and didn't bring her out before his opponent resigned.
The influence of the pieces was used (there was a point where Magnus would lose a pawn but it was defended by being on his queen's diagonal). However, it's still pretty crazy to not have moved them and for the game to be even basically to 'till the end.
I swear Chess can be more thrilling than a movie sometimes. I love when 2 players are able to win in less than 4-6 moves, and they both are just battling and defending and so on. Its so insane. I LOVE IT.
I got worried that he either purposefully blundered the queen early or somehow took it off the board. This is much better than I expected as I agree that it would be disrespectful to do that.
