@IamNinjaOfNinja they didn't exactly nerf them. They did not know what they were up against. They underestimated the situation that Strange tried to make them understand. To be fair, the heroes in the comic underestimated the situation with Wanda's mental breakdown before she remade the world.

This fight is so bad on several levels, like, they had Magneto and Storm in the same place, only the two of them managed to end the fight in seconds, apart from Cyclops and Xavier who also managed to end the fight in seconds and they did nothing
'It is the things that we fear, which we try to suppress'. If Jean/Phoenix was actually allowed to grow up, learning her powers carefully, one step at a time... how would that not be beneficial? The 'mind blocks' that Xavier tried to put in place, only made it worse, because he was afraid of her potential. She was far more powerful than anyone.... but perhaps, maybe... if he had let her learn things in her own time, one step a time, she would have learned control?
This stupid movie. They had a good cast. They shouldn’t have tried to redo Phoenix and instead just made a good X-Men movie. These fight scenes are fun.

The famous ending that was the result of a massive reshoot because the original was to similar to the one from the first MCU's Captain Marvel... And because Fix was in the middle of the negotiations to be sold to Disney, they bent the knees !

Disney forced them to change the ending of the movie because it was too similar to the outer space ending battle in Captain Marvel.
