Thanks Tim! Just had my bicep removed at shoulder and bone pinned with titanium, with repaired 3/4 labral tendon rip and freyed rotator surgery. I thought my flycasting days were over, at least for a long time. AL at Tacoma Bass Pro learned Skagit from you and we've been best friends since our military days over 3 decades ago. This fellow Oregonian today got hands on training from your student in Skagit casting with my 13' St. Croix Imperial on a huge grass field at McCord AFB. I truly sucked at first, being a lifetime conventional fly caster. Once settling in to Skagit casting form, I was effortlessly and painlessly casting a 500gr Skagit head 120 to 130 feet! Al introduced me to your channel and patiently taught me your techniques and intro to Skandi. Just had to thank you for breathing new life into a slow healing 62 year old! Blessings for what you're doing!!!
awesome vid, I was wondering if you know of any cheap traditional lines I could buy off Amazon. i heard Maxcatch has something like it. could I just get an 8-weight double tapered line made for a single hand and put it on my spey rod. I'm 14 and don't have the means of paying 60+ dollars for a line, I just buy the cheaper Skagit heads and stuff. i learned how to spey cast on a double tapered line and I'm a pretty decent cast, I ended up cutting it back for sink tips and now I need a new line. any recommendations would help.
@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins 13 ft sage. it's an older model. it may seem silly but I'm a better cast with longer lines so I'm looking for something more traditional.
The tip looped on this Skagit head was a Rio 15’ floating replacement tip. www.gorgeflyshop.com/store/pc/RIO-Replacement-Sink-Tips-15-Floating-11wt-Closeout-p14806.htm

Thanks brother! That makes my day.
Thanks Tim!!!! I recommend your vids to all my friends. You are very understandable and easy to learn from!! Thanks again, Lew
Nice of you to help a fellow caster. The man has a clear understanding of casting, cudos to him as well.
Thanks for the support buddy! Appreciate you!
Love these videos very very educational, especially for us new casters
Thanks. Glad they are helpfull
Thanks for getting back….but just to wrap my head around it, was it like a tippet attached to the replacement tip. Like a poly leader?
Yes, a tapered tippet. Yes you could attach a poly leader on the replacement tip and it would work good 👍🏻

What rod are you looking to line and what’s your ideal of an ideal shooting head for?

Tim. What do you mean ‘floating tip’. Do you mean a scandi line with a just a leader (tippet) or scandi plus poly leader plus tippet? Thanks, Lew

Also. There was a 9’ tapered leader looped on the end of the Rio floating replacement tip. Seemed to work fine
