  • It was a beautiful and very windy day today, but I managed to film some nice footage with my Blackfoot... I'm quickly getting used to the bow and arrow setup. One very important thing that I noticed today is: You need to grip this bow perfectly. It has to sit firmly (not too tightly though) in your hand, it must NOT move during and after release. If it does, your shot will get messed up bad. Keep that in mind, if you want to shoot the "Blackfoot". No 1 priority is a perfect grip on the bow!

    I have owned dozens of bows and the Bear paw Blackfoot is also one of my favorites. Great quality and design. A very stable and accurate shooter with the right arrows.

      Its a nice longbow for its low price! It can not, however, compete with a handmade custom longbow, not in terms of quality, nor performance. Its a very good bow for someone to start archery with and also intermediates will have a lot of fun with it. I like to shoot it every now and then, but it has not become my "go to" bow for competitions and such.

    Superb. I enjoyed every shot. The downhill on the buffalo , that's my kind of shot, I love those.
    And if the tree comes down, you should get a couple of staves out of it and make a self bow ;)

      I'm not sure what kind of tree that was, but that's a good idea ;)

    Hey nice video, glad you're enjoying your blackfoot.
    Today I've ordered a 45# Hopi from Bearpaw, I'm so excited! Cannot wait for it, my current bow is so bad. (A 40# bow but it feels like you're drowing a 55 pounder, crazy).
    Cannot wait for it. Thought I'd let you know because the Blackfoot and Hopi could be classified as "twins" in my opinion, obviously a flatbow and a recurve.

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thats nice :D Yeah the Hopi is definitely the recurved twin of the Blackfoot. Same materials, same colors. Let me know how it shoots for you once you have it!

      Great to hear!
      Mine arrived yesterday. Unfortunately, 45# turned out to be just a bit too much for me.
      Decided to send it back and get either a 40# Slick Stick or Dakota

    • @Vccine
      @Vccine 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear you like them!
      I kind of want a bit shorter bow and plus I wanted to get my hands on the slick stick every since it came out.
      And you're totally right, 30-35# bow is perfect for practice, no need to go over 40#.
      Unfortunately my "pride" always pushed me to get a higher and higher poundage even though that started to take away joy from my archery. Feel so stupid once I've realized there's no need to go for those big 45#-50#.

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ErnestG 35-40# is more than enough, especially when you shoot carbon arrows. So i recommend go for the lower draw weight when in doubt.

    Your release is static which is fine but why the fake back tension movement after the release?

    What spine arrows are you using and weight of them . Thinking of getting this bow

  • @martinstahle2006

    i ve a 40# Bearpaw Cayuga Longbow 66". Unfortunately i ve an extention length of 27,5". So 40# is not a high Draw Weight. I tried to shoot at 50 meters with Carbon Warriors 700 Spine and 85 Arrowheads and it was ok. But 60 Meters i ve to aim with my bow Hand - so i still cant see the Target. I think with wood arrows the 50 Meters would be a Problem for me.

    where is this? If i can find some archery sites around Trier or Kell am See in Germany I will take my Blackfoot. Might even take a trip to Bearpaw and get a few bits. I have the #35 bow and can shoot all day. #40 I can draw easily but it puts too much pressure on bow elbow. Fractured and chipped the bone a few years ago so have a piece of bone floating around the elbow

      Ah, that sucks, sorry about your elbow! This 3d course is in my hometown of Pörtschach am Wörthersee in Austria.

    are you using tab when you shoot to protect your fingers?

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I am using a tab. Simple leather tab with a finger separator.

    perhaps you will find it easier to take arrows from a quiver suspended from the waist.

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is easier, especially if you are just at the range. I prefer the backquiver in the woods however and for style :)

    What is your arrow set up with this 35#?

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arrows are 5/16 diameter spruce wood shafts, 40-45 spine, 70 grain point, 4" fletching. 28,5" total length, around 330grain total weight.

    • @ahmadzuhairi
      @ahmadzuhairi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The same arrow setup as your indoor 3d range video right.

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahmad Zuhairi no! Indoors i use 11/32 spruce shafts, 100grain point, 45-50 spine, 5 inch fletching. Around 420 grain total weight.

    • @ahmadzuhairi
      @ahmadzuhairi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah any reason why? It's a much closer range.

    • @TheDayne
      @TheDayne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The close range is the reason why! A heavier arrow with more fletching will stabilize better at shorter range. It will fly straight after a very short range in flight. Also the thicker diameter lets me get more points, because I will very often touch the higher ring on the target.
      The heavy arrows are a disadvantage outdoors because their trajectory is a lot worse than those of the lighter ones, but that does not matter indoors.
