This is a great pin curling tutorial even for those who don't use this tool. It gives lots of tips that most tutorials don't cover.
I do have this tool, I have been using it for front rolls. I do bumper bangs using it. I have fine, thin hair and I don't like using fillers, and in some cases can't because my hair isn't suited for it. But with this tool, I can make hollow bumper bangs that don't have a hair rat, they turn out beautiful and I can do them quite fast.
A little tip for people who do or want to try hollow bumper bangs: make sure the end of the section you are rolling is in the absolute center of the roll, and when you secure the roll to your head, only secure the center of the roll (use as many pins for this as you need and make sure it is very secure), leaving the rest of the roll pin-free. This will allow you to have maximum control when pulling out the sides of the bumper bangs, more control when securing the edges of it to your head, and it will make for a smoother, more even roll. The wider the width of the roll that you pin to your head, the less leeway you have to style the roll.

Women often went to the salon every week or twice a week to have the professionals do it for them :P also, as someone who sleeps in rollers every other night, sets tend to last a couple of days or so - so it's an hour in front of the mirror every couple of days to make hairstyling infinitely easier for yourself. Sounds fine to me! I just put on an audiobook, they might've put on the radio or a record.

My Grandma did pin curls every time she washed her hair for 96 years 🥰 Sometimes she would ‘allow’ us to help her when we were old enough. Then of course, as it got harder for her one of us could step in and help her during those last 10 years. These times were always a pleasure and an excellent time to hear stories for her youth or stories about our parents when they were kids - what kinds of mischief they got up to😂.
She passed away in her sleep Jan 22.
She never wore pants - ever
She always wore stockings, never nylons
..and I used to wonder why my Grandma was on all the money when I was little? (I’m Canadian and my grandmother looked just like Queen Elizabeth)

As someone who has had a halo of frizz since hitting puberty ages ago, I am forever jealous of your perfectly smooth, shiny hair. 😍

Thank you! It comes with its own struggles. Curls not wanting to set or just looking flat or lifeless.

My arms hurt just watching this. This should double for an arm workout routine. The end result looks supreme! 😊

I remember my mother doing this in the 1960's when I was a little kid and she didn't use a tool just her fingers. lol Her hair was short though not long.

All you gotta make your par and then each wind the hair around your finger . You don’t need that tool .

I have tried to pin curl with my fingers but just couldn't get the same smooth results as when I use the tool.
