Thank you for visiting this place mam. I have lived my entire life in India but got the chance to visit hampi only last October. Me and a friend of mine had the plan to stay in hampi for 2 days but once we got there the place just cast a spell on us and we ended up spending an entire week. Last year it was less crowded and the weather was much cooler. We took many sunrise walks and would walk upto any mound or hill and just sit there absorving the absolutely magnificent view of the ruins. Its a magical place and everyone should visit and atleast spend 3-4 days to really observe the place.
I want to visit Hampi and pay my respect to those heroes. EVERY BODY SHOULD LISTEN THE PODCAST OF Sri Sandeep Balakrishna and Sri Subramanya Swami about THIS great empire. Mysore Dasara originally started from Hampi.
This is the ruins of the Imperial Capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, that is the 'City of Victory', Vijayanagara from the 1370s to 1565. The City was the largest city in the world (many recent studies are now saying larger than Beijing). The core urban area was 45km2 but the Metropolitan Area was 180km2 with a population of around 1 million people. The Imperial Palace was massive comples of about 0.5km2 in size. The City had 7 rings of fortifications with the innermost fortification marking the Royal Enclosure. The City had several districts. Each district had a main temple at the centre, with a water reservoir, and a bazaar. For example, Hampi Suburb had Virupaksha Temple, Vitthalapura had Vijaya Vitthala Temple, Krishnapura had Balakrishna Temple, Kamalapura had Pattabhirama Temple. The Outer Suburbs included smaller walled townships like Malpanagudi, Santhanur, and Hosapete. Hosapete was one of the last suburbs built (by Emperor Krishnadevaraya in 1520s) where a new Imperial Palace was built along with the massive but incomplete Ananthashayanagudi Temple. The City had very wide highways and roads. The Virupaksha Bazaar and Achyutyaraya roads were 30metres wide, Vitthala Bazaar Road was 40m wide, and the Krishna Bazaar road and the the highway linking the North-East of the City with Hosapete to the South-West were both 50m wide. The Imperial Palace was described by foreign travellers from Europe to be larger than entire cities like Lisbon. The Palace had several royal apartments, an administrative complex, a noblemans complex, and a ceremonial complex as well several smaller temple complexes, warehouses, gardens and stables. There is an Olympic sized swimming pool where the members of the Royal family would sit in little boats and squirt waters and colours during Holi festival. The city was described by travellers from Europe, Persia, the Middle East and North Africa to be the best provided city in the world. The Bazaars were packed with people and carriages, goods from all across Asia, Europe and East Africa. There were diamonds and other gems and jewellery being sold on the streets. (The Vijayanagara Empire had a complete monopoly on the World's diamond supply back then). The City had a very advanced water management system which in some part still survives today. Surrounding the city was a complex canal irrigation system as well as Aqueducts (like the surviving 14th century Bukka Raya Aqueduct), and large reservoirs like the massive surviving Kamalapura Lake. Most of the houses were single story buildings made of bricks and wood with tiled roofs or flat roofs. Within the city walls were many gardens and even some land for agriculture and orchards.

Vijaynagar empire was the richest in the world during its hey days. Only Beijing could rival Hampi during its hey days. Travellers have quoted that diamonds and pearls were sold on the streets of Hampi.
@Natalie's Passport Hampi also houses the birthplace of Lord Hanuman (of the Ramayana era) and Chakrateertha (reached by a ferry) is the place Lord Vishnu (one of the divine Hindu trinity) received his Weapon Sudarshana chakra from Lord Shiva (another one of the divine Trinity)
Although ,i am not a fan of monarchy in general , Hampi was a part of Vijayanagara, the capital of the very renowned Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th-century.It became a center of economic and administrative activity of the Deccan region kingdom. Historians consider the empire to to one of the most well run empires in the world statecraft wise.
Hampi is just beyond beautiful. Some of the places, like the Queens baths, lotus palace, elephant stables. It takes your breath away. The step well, canal systems. Carved plates/ thalis and katories , amazing. The monolith huge doors, which could only be opened by elephants. Secret underground chamber, so the king could have discussions and no one else would hear. The administration area is spectacular. You see carvings of elephants, horses and camels. That was a sign that trade used to take place with Persia and Arabia. There are two pillars near this area, which were used as lathes, to shape the pillars into perfect rounds. The technology behind all of this is so wonderful to see. The main temples, the chariot, and the musical pillars. if it was in a western country it would have been wonder of the world.
Wow, I guess it was a city, extraordinarily beautiful. Imagine how beautiful Hampi must have been in its glorius days, before invaders ruined it. Visit Hoysaleshwara and Chennakeshwara temples while there, saw on YT, incredible sculptures.
Amazing you just transported me back to Hambi , I was there last November! I walked to all the places you went except that Laxmi Narashima temple . Hope you visited the chariot temple on the next day !!!
Many structures were destroyed by Muslims, yet numerous others still stand strong. This reflects the city's immense wealth and capability in the past, as it could construct so many buildings with such advanced levels of architecture.
Ancient India with those ancient architectures was way more beautiful than today's ordinary architecture of Indian cities...!! India should stick to it's old architecture models hmm🤔🙏
I hope you are doing well and believe all your trips across India were great, i noticed that you have been to Chandigarh, incase if you ever make plans again, be my guest, surely we can visit other places as well such as Shimla, Dharamshala , Mcleodganj, And many others… warm welcome to India
Hey Nat ... you are back ... good to see you ! Yep you really cover some very interesting and inviting places in India.. this one also looks like to go on my bucket list... hope to see you again soon...take care, stay wild and safe !!!
You must come to India next month October...festive season starts from next month to Diwali in November and winter will also start from November. And must travel in toy train from Shimla to Kalka in winter season surrounded by snow. You should also visit Ellora caves in Sambhajinagar Maharashtra.
That sounds amazing!! I’m hoping I can make it for a little 🤞 I actually did the toy train from Kalka to Shimla last February! It was amazing 😍 but no snow.. and I didn’t do a video as it was too cold to open the windows and videos through the windows didn’t do it justice 🙈
@@NataliesPassport but this time you should do when there is snow and the best time is in December. There are few places like Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Darjeeling where everyone enjoys the winter..you should definitely try to visit

@NataliesPassport if you didn't know as per mythological basis this empire was created from the boon of a goddess. One story says that this empire will come to life again for another 200 years but not sure when..
Omgosh…. Great video!! I loved all the temples and ruins and the amazing sculptures. I don’t think I would have climbed up that mountain though…. and those monkeys are just too scary!! Also loved the music you added to the video. Stay safe! Love you!!♥️♥️
Oh, you were on the path by the river on the way to the Vitthala Temple, the one with the stone chariot and musical pillars, but went back. You could have got a ride back to the village on the golf carts.
They say when Rome was in the dark ages Vijaya Nagar Kingdom was one of the richest empires in the world. That's Bazaar which is in ruins that's where one could buy all the gold, Jade, Ruby & Pearl Jewellery.
5 Muslim Kingdom United, invaded to destroy and burnt Hampi for 6 months. In 1565, at the Battle of Talikota, a coalition of Muslim sultanates entered into a war with the Vijayanagara Empire. They captured and behe@ded the king Aliya Rama Raya, followed by a massive destruction of the infrastructure fabric of Hampi and the metropolitan Vijayanagara.
Hampi was the second most populous and richest city in the 15th century, comparable to the Roman Empire. Muslim invaders destroyed the entire city, burning it for months and looting all the wealth.
It is a magical place which takes us back into those ancient times. It was ruled by one of the powerful dynasties i.e The Vijayanagara Dynasty and the most popular ruler even though he ruled for a short period Sri Krishnadevaraya made an indelible mark in the history of India. We are in eternal debt to him as he took the art and architecture to its Zenith and left an unparalleled legacy of these artforms and magnificent architecture. The serene Tungabhadra river on the banks of which this Incredible kingdom once flourished is still the lifeline to the modern civilisation. There is an old saying which goes like this “Tunga paanam Ganga snaanam” which means ‘One should drink sweet water of Tungabhadra and one should take a dip in the holy Ganges’ (Atleast once in thier lifetime) I am glad you got to drink the sweet Tungabhadra water and now its time you take a dip in Holy Ganges :)
@@NataliesPassport Yea the Ganges water is pure and indeed super cold near the upper reaches of Himalayas. As we go further south the river water is well suited to take a dip. For instance in Varanasi it is comfortable enough to take a dip. I hope you have a nice time in our country and I also wish that your future trips are successful and bring you a lot of joy and happiness 🙏
Great artitecture, lovely buildings so serene and beautiful area. You present well and showcase great features when you are about on your adventures. Its amazing how India is so diverse in culture and daily life always seem to amaze. Them pesky monkey's. Beautiful sunset. Great vlog Natalie 🩷🥰🩷🌹🌹
This is also place of Most famous diety of Hindus, Hanuman. This is also place where Vali and Sugreev ruled and you must know Sugreev description of the worlld and coutnries is 5000 years old
@@NataliesPassport Dont forget to visit Mysore, Karnataka state from today for next 9 days is Dasara festival.. Being celebrated for more than 400years now...
You should have had the tender coconut water - that would have kept you well hydrated and energized in the heat as its full of electrolytes. At 14.00, just when you turn to go towards the river there was a stall selling tender coconut.

Vijaynagar empire was the richest in the world during its hey days. Only Beijing could rival Hampi during its hey days.
Travellers have quoted that diamonds and pearls were sold on the streets of Hampi.
Mann.. where is Beijing.. and where is Hampi.. look at our architectural style. You wont be anything like that in entire China.
@@prashanths9813china had multistoreyed building and paved roadways in 16 th century
I heard that - that Hampi was the richest! It’s amazing to imagine! 😍
Whenever i watch any foreigner indian vlog
Thn i on cc but in ur videos i never needed
Coz your English is so clear that i can easily understand
Aww thank you 🥰 I’m an English teacher so maybe that’s helped me learn to enunciate words properly…although sometimes I can speak too fast 😅🙈❤️
The great Vijayanagara Empire. Thanks to our Ancestors.
Definitely 😍
Wow looks really nice and also chill. Beautiful!
It really was! 😍
Thank you for exploring Our pride. Keep going ❤❤❤
Thank you 🥰🥰
Hey looks like you missed the most imp site. The famous Hampi chariot and the temple that its situated in. Thats a must!
There’s sooo much to visit in India!! 🙈 it was 3+ months of nonstop travel and there’s still so much I want to see! 😍
That’s amazing! Also how it existed so long ago 😍
ancient india is awesome.
It is! 😍
It's not easy job.. Lot of respect for you.. Thank you sister

So cool 😍
Back ground music so nice..tjanks for visiting Bharath 🇮🇳💐 💐💐
Thanks for watching 🥰
I completely agree 😍 it is a really cool place!! Soo much to see all over Hampi, yet it’s still such a nice chill place!
THANK u LADY, Greetings from Ireland ❤
Bro come to south India❤
Thanks for watching 🥰
Wow, I guess it was a city, extraordinarily beautiful. Imagine how beautiful Hampi must have been in its glorius days, before invaders ruined it. Visit Hoysaleshwara and Chennakeshwara temples while there, saw on YT, incredible sculptures.
Right?? It’s amazing to think of how it used to be so long ago! 😍
13:14 the stone structures u see is the place where they used to sell diamonds on the street like vegetables before india got invaded
So amazing! 😍
Amazing you just transported me back to Hambi , I was there last November! I walked to all the places you went except that Laxmi Narashima temple . Hope you visited the chariot temple on the next day !!!
India is the land of krishna and rama...
You just been to a place where the people where selling world's best diamonds and gems just at exchange cost. Greetings from Bangalore India.

India saport to you medam wellcom to India 💯🇮🇳🙏🤝🕉
So our empire was extended till indonesia, Bali. Thats why u see similar architecture.
Omg it was so huge! 😱
Many structures were destroyed by Muslims, yet numerous others still stand strong. This reflects the city's immense wealth and capability in the past, as it could construct so many buildings with such advanced levels of architecture.
It’s amazing to imagine how it used to be 😍
I have been these place 6 days ago on a college tour and it was really beautiful ❤️❤️
So cool!! I hope your class had a great time! 😍
@@NataliesPassport yeah we did enjoy alot❤️❤️
Ancient India with those ancient architectures was way more beautiful than today's ordinary architecture of Indian cities...!!
India should stick to it's old architecture models hmm🤔🙏
I’m sure it was gorgeous back in the day! Although I did see many nice places in India too!
I hope you are doing well and believe all your trips across India were great, i noticed that you have been to Chandigarh, incase if you ever make plans again, be my guest, surely we can visit other places as well such as Shimla, Dharamshala , Mcleodganj, And many others… warm welcome to India

I’m hoping I can make it for a little 🤞
I actually did the toy train from Kalka to Shimla last February!
@@NataliesPassport You should definitely visit Shillong, Meghalaya in the North East if you love nature, lots of waterfalls, caves etc, for you to explore... do check some of the videos here on youtube, and also check during which months is best to visit

My ancestors were military men manning forts in the Vijayanagara empire. They settled us in Coastal Karnataka. Am from the Kshatriya caste.
That’s so cool to know your family history like that 😍
@NataliesPassport if you didn't know as per mythological basis this empire was created from the boon of a goddess. One story says that this empire will come to life again for another 200 years but not sure when..
Excellent
Thank you 🥰
When in it's heydays, this was even richer tban Roman empire. It was contributing around 20% of world GDP, 600 years ago...
That’s amazing 😍

Aww I hope you get to! Although I’m sure there are SOOOOO many 😱😍😍
You wonder, how many temples are enough temples.
Soooo many temples! 😍
Recommenting to visit kailash temple in Ellora (Maharashtra, India) . Largest rock cut monolithic structure in the world . an underrated wonder
I’ve never heard of that before, but it looks amazing! 😍
Omgosh…. Great video!! I loved all the temples and ruins and the amazing sculptures. I don’t think I would have climbed up that mountain though…. and those monkeys are just too scary!! Also loved the music you added to the video. Stay safe! Love you!!♥️♥️
It’s yet another place that you would love in India! 😍 minus the monkeys 🤣🤣 ALTHOUGH when you first saw them in Thailand you loved them!!!
400 to 650 is a reasonable price so don't worry!!You got a good bargain!
Thanks for letting me know 🥰
Oh, you were on the path by the river on the way to the Vitthala Temple, the one with the stone chariot and musical pillars, but went back. You could have got a ride back to the village on the golf carts.
Aww I didn't know about the golf carts - I just walked everywhere 😅
@@NataliesPassport they do say Hampi is for people who can walk.
Thank you for visiting hampi ❤

They say when Rome was in the dark ages Vijaya Nagar Kingdom was one of the richest empires in the world. That's Bazaar which is in ruins that's where one could buy all the gold, Jade, Ruby & Pearl Jewellery.
I wish I could see it back then!! 😍
Wrong.
This is just less than amillinium old. Destroyed by Islam.
@@ahalyabs I don't know what you mean by wrong. Need to elaborate it
Always fun traveling with you 🙂 Lots of cool ruins and temples. the scenery was gorgeous. Enjoy, stay safe & be well ❣
Thank you! ❤️ it was a really cool place!
Visit Mysore if possible. This is the best time to visit Mysore as there is Dasara festival vibe till the month of October.
I’d love to visit one day! 😍
😱 oh wow I didn’t know about any of that! Wish we could’ve seen it how it was before they destroyed it!
Maybe one day 😅 some friends got in in Rishikesh, but it was January and SO cold!! 😬
Natalie you are always 13:04 smiling and be happy which is good. Keep on doing and keep on bringing us great content where ever you may be on your asventures. I love animals but i got bit by a monkey i am so aware of them i freeze on the spot. The local children so friendly. Its amazing how India is so diverse in culture and daily life always seem to amaze. Them pesky monkey's. Beautiful sunset. Great vlog Natalie 🩷🥰🩷🌹🌹
Thank you Alan! 🥰🥰 I also love animals but monkeys are really so scary!!! I want more dogs and less monkeys 😅🤣

You should have had the tender coconut water - that would have kept you well hydrated and energized in the heat as its full of electrolytes. At 14.00, just when you turn to go towards the river there was a stall selling tender coconut.
